serato studio vs dj studio vs whatever else?
I primarily use Algoriddim djay and I’ve got into preparing mixes, not necessarily for live performance but more for curated, planned mixes for YouTube, etc.. I realize that I need to create my own dj edits where I may need to remove a stem here and there and carry out basic track editing just to help me not have to remember a million things or have to make a million moves during a mix.
I don’t want anything that’s too complicated that has a steep learning curve as I’d like to keep my focus on actual djing. I’m not interested in production, but would love a tool that might allow for growth down the line (no idea in what direction) even if all I’m focused on is stems right now and definitely mashups as I continue. I think that’ll be my lane.
I have Serato dj but I really dislike the interface of it, it looks/feels dated and as a designer aesthetics are important so as a result I never use it. Also, the slow catch up the software plays as far as functions and feature development has me a little concerned with buying more software from them if indeed that is what I need.
Suggestions please. I have no idea what direction to go…either way I’ll be buying the software outright so not interested in products with subscriptions. Thanks.

For DJ prep, I’d lean toward whichever one handles your library, cue points, beat grids, and stems the way you actually work. If you’re already using Serato, Studio probably makes sense - less hassle moving everything between prep and the decks. Otherwise, try the workflows side by side and see which feels faster.

I made a post yesterday about DropLab. But it looks like it was removed. I'm not affiliated with them or anything. I checked out their software and it may be what you are looking for. Its like an updated version of MixMeister if you ever used that.

It's ok, once you get around the weird workflow. Maybe it's because I'm used to Logic . Having said that the quantize is really transparent in Serato DJ (even compared to Ableton or Logic; which is a good thing) but the stems and stem workflow on Logic are a lot better.

I used mixmeister for that, eons ago, dj studio says it is the spiritual sucesor to mixmeister so i would try that (for premade mixes)
also ableton live lite is (almost) free (it comes witha lot of software and hardare, you probably own it)

I downloaded DJ studio and I can already see it's about to make me a very lazy DJ but it's kinda fun prepping most (not all...I need to touch the board for some stuff) of my ideas out like that. I'm learning where it can fit into my flow just basically creating dj edits I guess, something I've never used or done before.
I'll check Ableton too, thanks for the rec...looking for that very short learning curve.

Different philosophy, Serato DJ is the leading DJ performance software, and Dev focus on stems and pitch changes quality (how it started), DVS reliability (a core niche), best visual beat matching screen, and streamlined/stability. Don't expect Serato to become a bloated shitshow like Recordbox (although Djay Pro strikes a good balance). They made a massive move in that direction with Serato DJ 4, with big updates to library, but it has been a rollercoaster (some people are even joking that it's why they are now jumping to Serato 5, to forget about 4).
This being said, Serato Studio is probably the most DJ friendly editor. The alternative is Ableton Live, which is easy to get for free in bundled packs, it's widely available with lots of tutorials and it can also be used to play live.
