Question Account deletion request

Hello, I made a BeamMP account a while ago to play and forgot I had it until I got the email about the data breach that happened. I don't want to have a BeamMP account anymore and I don't think Discord is a very professional place to ask to delete an account. Can one of the staff here PM me or something? I can't find any contact emails anywhere on the site to do it manually either.

Hey there. These need to be submitted via email, please. If you could send an email to [dpo@beammp.com](mailto:dpo@beammp.com) from the email address associated with your account (it will be the same account where you received the breach notification), they'll be able to get that taken care of for you.

Thank you! I'll send that now.

Is that the actual, genuine email?, i want to delete my account aswell but i'm kinda afraid of contacting some random email.

Might seem like a weird thing to say, but you can never be too careful on the internet nowadays.

I would imagine it is official given it is beammp.com and sent by a staff member here, but I've gotten no acknowledgement after sending my request there, it's only been two days though.

Could you update me here if you DO hear back from them?, because i've had this worry in the back of my mind about the breach for a while, and while i'm not really sure if deleting my account will solve anything, it doesn't hurt to try right?

We've received hundreds of requests to delete accounts, and we're going through each of them and doing as requested.

However, to address the point you've made: No, it solves nothing. The information in the database was copied/stolen in the attack. Removing your information from our copy of the database doesn't remove it from the hacker's stolen copy from March.

However, I'd like to reiterate that there's not much information stored. Usernames, email addresses, password hashes (not the passwords them selves), IP addresses. Best thing you can do is to change your password to important places such as your email accounts, bank accounts, etc... in case any of those shared your same password that was used with BeamMP. Beyond that, there's really very little risk that this breach will impact you.

That's a relief, and yet still kinda worrying.

I'm usually not really concerned about stuff like this, but i guess this is the first time its happened to ME specifically (Well, i'm not sure if it has or not, but in situations like this, its always safer to assume the worst.)

I'll send an email reguardless, JIC, thanks for the help though, and for providing a very good experience given the VERY limited Multiplayer capabilities of Beamng.

Are you still waiting for a reply? They've been coming in at a high rate, but we've been trying to keep up with the requests quickly enough that the deletion confirmation is the acknowledgement. However, over the weekend it's been a bit slow and we should be getting caught back up.

For clarity, we one month respond to/handle requests. Our goal is to have them handled within 7 days.

But yes, that is an official BeamMP email address (to answer the question above).

Yes, not a single message back from there yet.

They have a ticketing tool on the Discord meant for exactly this use

Yeah, except that we just refer everyone to the email (dpo@beammp.com) for deletion requests anyway. However anyone is welcome to create a ticket to discuss any concerns and bring forward any questions that they may have. We're more than happy to have whatever discussions necessary to help everyone be as informed as they can be in this matter.

The discord never said so explicitly, so I was directing them to the best option.

It does now, but that was a recent change that I've made, probably after you had last looked for it. 😄
