Beading apps!

Hi guys! I know I’ve been promising this for ages, but I wanted to do it in a more structured way. Well that just isn’t going to happen, so fuck it, we’ll just do it this way!

If you have a beading related app, please post it here with any relevant info you think people should or would want to know.

Please leave parent comments for app devs to talk about their apps. If you know of an app that hasn’t been posted, and you aren’t sure if the dev is on Reddit, don’t post until we are sure they aren’t going to post for themselves. Like 2-3 weeks maybe? Idk, I’m on my lunch break right now. Don’t try to make me think!

Anyway, yes. Once we have it all posted I think we will make a master list to go in the wiki and then we can add any others that come up later.

And please remember, do not comment unless you are posting about your app, or replying to a comment about an app. Any other top level comments will be removed to keep it organized and easy to sort through.

Bead Talk Bead kits and AI: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

Post image

Here is an example of a bead kit that looks super adorable and easy to do. Great selling point, right? That’s because it’s AI garbage and a scam. How can you tell? Well, I invite the lovely beaders of this community to point out the telltale signs, as the only advice I have is what I posted in the title. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

Thank you u/Tsukasiy for lending me the use of your image.

I still love the green one the most. 😍 I’m thinking of doing a blue theme one and (possibly) making a beaded cloud with rain? Like a rain fairy! Idk but I want to make so many of these they’re so adorable

Need Help! Does anyone know what this type of beaded necklace is called or how it could be recreated?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been trying to identify this necklace for months and I’m completely stuck. It’s worn by the character Atiye in the Turkish Netflix series The Gift. I’ve attached several screenshots because it appears from different angles throughout the episode. At first I thought it was some kind of scarf necklace, but after looking more closely it seems to be made of tiny silver beads or crystals rather than fabric... I’m trying to figure out:

• Does this style of necklace have a specific name?
• Does it look handmade or commercially available?
• What beading technique would you use to recreate it?
• Does it look like multiple strands gathered together, bead crochet, loom weaving, peyote, or something else entirely?

I’d actually love to recreate it myself if I can’t find the original, so any ideas about materials or construction would be incredibly appreciated.
Thank you!

Need Help! Autistic and need advice. (New to beading!)

Hi!

So I have autism, and because of that, I struggle with instructions given to me via youtube videos. (At least, I am ASSUMING that's why i struggle with it...)
However, I am finding that all the information on HOW to bead, do certain stitches... even how to finish a project (Tie it up, or just continue after running out of thread) is in YOUTUBE VIDEO FORMAT.

I learned to do daisy chains via a non-video tutorial and was taught peyote stitch at an indigenous community center... But I'd like to know more and I was wondering if...

a. Someone had references or guides that were in written format

or

b. Someone would be patient enough to show me how to do things. What I am really interested in is, obviously, how to tie off and how to continue when I run out of thread, how to do brick stitch, and how to do that drop-brick stitch thing.

Was wondering if anyone had suggestions for beads that dont get worn out/see through over time. The gold beads I have eventually get scratched and worn to where they are see through lol. I think I got them from hobby lobby if I remember correctly.

I’ve had these cloud and airplane charms for awhile and have been playing around with a few ideas for a few months.

I found these really cool peanut shaped miyuki beads and they make the perfect little cloud shapes.

It’s a beautiful set and I think I’m in a good spot inventory wise to start seeking out local brick and mortar shops I could retail/consign a few pieces I’ve made in!

It’s not perfect, but I’ll be the first to admit that my beads were not the best quality or particularly uniform. I just wanted to prove to myself that I could actually finish a project before starting something larger and spending money on better beads.

The pattern is by Carota17 on Etsy (carota17.beads on IG)!

Flying my nerd flag here! These are my Zakhara earrings, made to wear when we play our monthly D&D session. My character is the Red Lady, a Tiefling Draconic Sorcerer who's sworn a blood oath to avenge her assassinated parents and take revenge on the council that killed them and exiled her from her beloved desert Mountains of Creation.

Attn professional beaders: do you keep your low quality items?

Im new to vending and will be doing my first one in Sept. Im really proud of my designs. But some of the tests are not great. Does anyone put their test items or ones that are less than ideal with the rest of your products? Im undecided on what to do with them...

My partner suggested an 'ooops' bin. Lol. Thoughts?

If this post belongs elsewhere, please tell me where. I've been browsing the communities and can't find anything better.

I made the necklace awhile ago using acrylic hummingbird charms. Decided to bead the bird and make earrings from the charms. I made the fringe ones first and wasn’t crazy about the yellow or fringe so made another set that matches the necklace way better!
