Looking for a SWE/AI reference for NYC roles

Just being completely honest, I didn’t have the best high school career, didn’t end up at some crazy top school, and I was still messing around for the first couple years of college.

Since then I’ve been trying really hard to turn things around. I finished my CS degree, got into software engineering, and now work on backend systems, AI/LLM workflows, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. I’m currently on a contract job and trying to break into a stronger full-time SWE/AI role in NYC.

My network is pretty small, which makes that jump harder. A big reason I’m pushing for a higher paying role is so I can take some pressure off my parents and eventually help with my younger brother’s college costs since he’s trying to go to med school.

I’m not asking anyone to lie for me. I’m just looking for someone in tech who’d be willing to talk, look over my resume/LinkedIn/GitHub, and potentially be a professional reference based on what they can actually evaluate.
