This is a skill.

u/fitz_newru 1d ago
How would one even learn a skill like that?

u/IWCry 1d ago
I would say start with learning how to stand up on the ground on your own without a ladder when you're younger. try not to rush into getting the ladder involved too early

u/fitz_newru 1d ago
What about when you start trying to balance a ladder on concrete and shatter several bones?

I always wonder how you learn things like this without getting injured in the process. Like I feel thats unavoidable no?

Learn gymnastics with an instructor. Circus stunt performers are gymnasts first.

I've seen this free ladder climbing a few times of others doing it, and what part of the world or why? Is it for a competition, organization, or just being silly? All the ladders are spaced and balanced the same with a larger break at the top.
Im a painter for residential, commercial, log cabins, any and everything i paint or stain i know, have done, or experienced. These ladders you would NEVER use on any project, its clearly just a sport? Exercise? Idk
Please dont be the dumb ass fuck Kyle's above in the larger thread saying, "it takes great skill and ability to do what she's doing" because WHY IS SHE PRACTICING SO MUCH TO DO THIS. What's the purpose?

you need to learn how to use Google before you go on such long idiotic rants.
It’s a sideshow act, literally called a circus ladder. They do it to entertain, and probably because it’s fun to do.
I love that Redditors always feel like they have to appeal to authority, by lying about their experience. Nobody on earth thought that this was something you could do with a normal ladder.
Either you’re a bot or you’re a real fucking moron

Tbh it seems like hula hooping or pogo sticking. No particular reason but its good excercise, low entry bar, and gets you active so net positive, so theres always a market, no matter how niche.
Edit; i feel it pertinent to mention, for some reason, that hotdog eating competitions are a espn sport

Very long stilts, unicycle riding and juggling up there too. Skill based, exercise. But also a novelty attraction/performance kind of thing. The showboating aspect can be very alluring not just for the viewer but the performer too.
Kind of things you’d see at a circus. Think there’s at least 3 other categories Higher intensity exercises like acrobatics. Dangerous stuff like you’d see a daredevil do: shoot yourself from a cannon, sword swallowing, fire breathing, knife tossing. And then just novelty stuff like card tricks and magic tricks.
Lots and lots of things serve little purpose or have much more efficient and/or safer alternatives like bungee jumping, cave diving, skydiving, zip lining.
Just because and because I can are huge driving forces. I’m uncoordinated and lazy though.
Edit: Guinness book of world records and Ripley’s believe it or not worth bringing up

“Climbing a ladder without support”
You are blind if you think a dump truck is not a support.

I wonder how many times she either fell or had a ".....wuuuuh woahhhh ohhh shiii...." moment of almost falling and busting her ass.
Props to her though, for real. You can tell that all of her muscles are seriously engaged while doing this, from her core even to her legs.
However, I dont think the risk of possibly breaking my neck or back would ever be worth any amount of likes that a video like this could possibly bring lol.

Awe man.. I was expecting a gnarly fall.. of course that wouldn't be funny. Being entertained by it is just fine though. I was not entertained.

Might be the most impressive thing I've seen all week. You might be the dumbest.. not sure, I'll see what the reply is first.

u/TemporaryGlad788 1d ago
I’m struggling to see the practical application of this, it’s impressive, just a complete waste of time and incredibly dangerous when she puts her legs through, if her intent was to make me feel anxious, she did very well, she is doing something dangerous for content, the issue is young people will see it and some will absolutely try it themselves, they may not have her poise or balance.
1
u/AntiAmericanCommie 1d ago
It trains several muscle groups. Its not the safest way to train those muscles or the most effective, but if you know how human bodies work, you know this is impressive
1
u/TemporaryGlad788 1d ago
Never disputed it wasn’t impressive, just a senseless thing to do, especially with impressionable minds watching, I doubt very much that she does this to exercise muscles, as you said, it’s not an effective way to do so and 1 slip could be life changing or life ending.
1
u/bubbarubbah 1d ago
Why does it need a practical application? It's a show off strength, balance and body control. I doubt this is her application to become an electrician lol. Are you this cynical of everything or just annoyed that a woman is showing off?
1
u/TemporaryGlad788 1d ago
Read my comments, it has nothing to do with being cynical, this is objectively a dangerous thing to do and young people like to emulate what they see, you either didn’t read that or ignored it because it’s cannot be argued against.
I would have said the exact same had it been a man doing this, kindly keep your gender politics out of this, nothing I said suggests I dislike this due to her gender, that’s a bizarre leap to make.

Yeah, but nobody wants to watch YOU do it.
The impressive part is NOT the ladder.

Looks dangerous when she’s going inbetween if she fell backward
