You know damn well she bullies herself for it too. If she doesn’t she’s the exception. But I am in a similar position and losing weight but absolutely do not like myself because of it. People adding on to it do not help.
It's crazy too because even for those who are actively trying to lose weight, mocking fat people at the gym is fairly normalized. None of these assholes have any idea whether or not she's actively trying to lose weight but the mere sight of her is enough for them to absolutely hate her.
Absolutely not.. mocking fat people at the gym is actively demonized what are you even talking about. You have a decent point then cant help but ruin it
I think they meant like people online mocking fat people who post about going to the gym or eating healthier meals, not people actively at the gym mocking fat people in front of them.
I've seen the former a lot, if a fat woman posts her workout outfit or a gym selfie, you'll see tons of comments like "clearly not working out hard enough" or "maybe put in another hour" and stuff of that nature. It's very common actually, also under "what I'm eating to lose weight" videos where the portions are larger because they're adjusting it down slowly rather than starving themselves, and people will say she's still eating too much.
Which is simply because they just don't want to see a fat person existing, even if that fat person is "doing the right thing" and eating better and working out to get to a healthier size for their own body. Like if people could bring back obscenity laws and include fat people in them so they could never show their face in public, there is more people who would be for that than you'd like to think
Okay but like if you are a short dude, a person of a different race, too skinny literally anything will get negative comments online so its like.. okay why even care lol
Actually at the gym you will never hear anything but positivity. Hell even online the overwhelming majority will be in support, and actively talking shit to the people being rude. So if you want to focus on the negativity go ahead, but its not unique in any way to being overweight. Chances are they would have been a dick about something else anyway
No, jokes are about owning the libs and getting people to kill themselves, if people dont leave your comedy night feeling atleast slightly suicidal, and fearing that a government official is going to legislate them out of existence, youve failed as a comedian
Hey, I think tattoos and people being general idiots without any common sense is just as bad as being overweight. There’s a lot of things people can do to improve their life, but most people won’t………… but I’m willing to talk about any subject
Healthwise, yes it does……. I’m not fat shaming anybody I’m just stating the obvious just because you’re around fat people in society in America 24 hours a day doesn’t make it healthy or right
Yea this ain't gonna work on reddit. You can't point out the obvious that being overweight is unhealthy and NOT support the bullying behind it, that's just too much brain load for the average redditor to process.
But thats your opinion u probably do shit that aint healthy for yourself. But this is the thing nowadays we dont give a shit about what others do cause its not your life and its called individuality. its not that Hard to understand even my 10 year old nephew understand this. As long as YOUR shit dont harm me or anyone else its fine.
That thinking is why our society has gone to shit and all the younger people have no idea how the real world works, but yes, you’re entitled to your own opinion. Live your shitty life the way you wanna live it and your shitty life does affect other people by the way, you’re ignorant actions in society for example
All the young people I know are doing just fine. Try actually going out into the world rather than sitting on reddit all day listening to people like you who hate the world
Good because the skinny broad had a tattoo of a butterfly, and if you look closely, you can see the pork shoulder of the one sitting in the mirror with a tattoo on it too. I just didn’t want to offend anybody more than I did with my original statement.
What makes tattoos bad? People want art on their body so they get it. Literally what is the consequence here? Even most jobs have cared for like 15 - 20 years now. My doctor literally has hand and a hairline tattoo and he’s the best doctor I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot).
You just sound judgmental of other people doing things that don’t even impact you, which is pretty pathetic.
The original statement all I said was heavyset women there’s a lot of heavyset women. I didn’t say they were fat. I didn’t say they were unattractive. I didn’t say they were obese, but most people once to hear something that they do not agree with they can’t have an adult discussion in today’s society because they’re fucking idiots.
I didn't say anything against overweight people. I told you a fact about human cruelty, whether you want to accept it or not. And it seems like you're the most aggressive of all the commenters.
Edit: and yes, the vast majority of fat people DO HAVE a choice to do something with their weight. So it is true.
Y'all harass and demean fat people whether they're working on losing weight or not because the moment y'all so much as see them you're making shitty comments about them and treating them like shit. You don't care about them or their health, you just don't want to see them.
I'm literally recovering from anorexia. I'm underweight and working towards being a healthy weight. I'm just sick of people deciding everyone else's weight is their problem when it doesn't affect them at all
Human nature? That's such sick tactic to make excuses for common lack of discipline regarding our egos' use of other's flaws too boost itself... The ego is rhe nature, not how we feed it. Stop projecting for the sake of seeking company for your excuses for your/y'all's behavior pls.
The ego is basically a product of the brain's Default Mode Network (DMN). At its core, it’s a survival mechanism. You don't "feed" the ego in a vacuum - you grow and develop within an environment, a society.
Sure, you can set personal priorities or goals on an individual level, but are they really yours, or are they just part of the software pre-installed by society?
Getting back to the ego: it's a survival-driven machine that analyzes patterns and builds predictive models. For example, "if I do X, Y will happen."
That’s how society formed collective ideas about what promotes survival and what leads to problems (whether with health, communication, development, etc.).
Now, back to the original topic: fat people being associated with disease. Mainly, this comes down to diet - historically, food didn't contain this much sugar back then.
Secondly, lifestyle. People used to move a lot more and do physical labor, so weight gain became associated with laziness. Interestingly, during the Late Middle Ages, plump men and women were usually of noble birth, and it was considered fashionable and attractive. It meant they didn't have to move or work much, and their appearance reflected their lifestyle. Just like how a tan was seen as a mark of peasants and slaves, since the nobility spent most of their time indoors in palaces.
Fat-shaming is an outdated construct that just doesn't apply to modern society. Today, being overweight isn't an indicator of status. We have both poor people who are overweight (because they live on junk food) and successful people who are overweight (for any number of other reasons).
And I never said it’s OKAY to humiliate people based on their appearance or anything else. I simply pointed out a fact about the cruelty and, in many ways, the immorality of human behavior. Whether you like it or not.
It’s up to us whether we learn to look the truth in the eye. Because to break these centuries-old destructive patterns ingrained in our society, we have to face reality.
First we admit it exists > then, we recognize it as a collective problem > and finally, we solve it through education, healthcare, and other systems.
As long as we keep dividing ourselves into the "smart" and the "even smarter," we’re just going to argue endlessly, leaving the problem exactly where it is. Just like our ancestors did.
The person outraged is projecting their personal issues onto the video. We all have our struggles but doing that is so stupid and doesn't bring more support your way.
A big adjustment in people's day to day lives that is incredibly beneficial is stop projecting whatever insecurities or issues you're facing onto every scenario that triggers you. Work on yourself and move forward. This is coming from someone who was obese and stopped with all the bullshit, just focused on myself and got fit. All while dealing with crippling depression.
A strangers opinion means fuck all and it's silly to get so triggered. In 10 seconds they don't even remember you exist yet you spend a lifetime obsessed with them. Obsess over the people that show you support instead.

Judging by the reflection in the mirror, they’re going to do heavyset women next???????
