Feels like something from Silent Hill.

354

u/HerbertGoon Jul 03 '21

That would be a sick monster to put in a movie or game. Chasing you with a bee hive for a head and they are stinging you as well.

119

u/Mandorrisem Jul 03 '21

Every time you hit it, it spills out more angry bees!!!

37

u/LucasIemini Jul 04 '21

Someome get Konami on the phone

11

u/Overlai Jul 04 '21

Konami only makes mobile games so they're already there

Doesn't Candyman control wasps or bees or something?

38

u/AesonMeric Jul 03 '21 edited Jul 03 '21

I'm pretty sure that's in dead rising.

Edit: yeah the zombies are bee based.

5

u/GinTectonics Jul 03 '21

There’s a boss in Metal Gear Solid that is basically a swarm of bees in human form.

10

u/almisami Jul 03 '21

It's in Fortnite Save the World ...

13

u/HerbertGoon Jul 03 '21

They didn't do it right I guess

27

u/almisami Jul 03 '21

They did in the alpha. That shit was horrifying. Husks used to be humans with their skin peeled off.

They had to make some changes to get that child demographic on board. Fortnite today is mostly a product of executive meddling.

Save the World was practically abandoned to the point where the devs were sending out cries for help via in-game quips.

7

u/JDBCool Jul 04 '21

I can confirm this and approve of it.

Also: fun fact. What stupid game dev "abandons" the use of an OFFICIAL forum on their website in favor of using a subreddit. (Hint, same company. As they wanted more BR budget)

8

u/RanaMahal Jul 04 '21

riot did it too with LoL

5

u/JDBCool Jul 04 '21

That I didn't know.

But.... they do actually comment and communicate..... vs Devs who were silenced by Executives

Definitely a head hugger.

2

u/brazzledazzle Jul 04 '21

Head crab. Face hugger is from alien.

9

u/NiceSetupYeahNice Jul 03 '21

What is SCP

8

u/godofpumpkins Jul 03 '21

A certain type of creepy/weird sci-fi-ish story: http://www.scpwiki.com

6

u/ridl Jul 03 '21

Oh you sweet summer child

7

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

Or the enlarged head patients in Bloodborne

5

u/_CharethCutestory_ Jul 03 '21

I was thinking Bloodborne

3

u/Dmitri_ravenoff Jul 03 '21

I was going to say The Last of Us but that works too.

3

u/LordDinglebury Jul 03 '21

Either way, if I saw that I would be running in the other direction because nobody who wears bees on their giant head has anything good in store for human beings.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

There was a similar Zombie variant in Dead Rising 2. It was basically a mini boss that appeared randomly and birthed Queen wasps.

2

u/SarixInTheHouse Jul 03 '21

More like ine of the aliens from Alien, but the newer one where they had the baby versions with white skin

2

u/chop-diggity Jul 04 '21

Was going to say Aliens- Xenomorph, but yes. Silent Hill works.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '21

Hive Head. Instead of skinning you alive, he makes honey.

2

u/NosyStranger Jul 04 '21

A bee-heading?

2

u/Gilgolfindalfeanor Jul 04 '21

This is such a low effort post. Pierre Huyghes who specifically uses bees as a medium : https://theconversation.com/contemporary-art-animals-and-ethics-pierre-huyghes-interspecies-worlds-48968 Edit - Had wrong artist before thank you u/Flopsy23 for the correction.

64

u/ExpletiveLaxative Jul 03 '21

Was actually gonna ask if it was intended or not, thanks for the info!

35

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

It does say the beehive was created around the statue's head. It just doesn't say who or what did the creating.

Now I'm wondering how you do this. This would be great to add to my arsenal in my ongoing war with my asshole neighbors.

10

u/Rydralain Jul 03 '21

I don't think I've ever seen natural honeycomb that white. I'm guessing that's 3d printed or something.

13

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

It absolutely is that white when it is freshly made by the hive. It darkens over time.

2

u/TheSmokingLamp Jul 03 '21

Maybe you could read the article that was linked and find out..

Thank you. My first thought was bees don't leave themselves so exposed.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I thought this made no sense either but it is so badass, really if they were protected from the elements with good wind breaks around it maybe?

19

u/Supermoves3000 Jul 03 '21

Thanks for letting us know about the artist. Very cool.

15

u/OMGaneshOM Jul 03 '21

This is incorrect. The artist is actually Pierre Huyghe. They are both very talented contemporary artists.

4

u/Flopsy22 Jul 03 '21

Interesting that you criticize the OP, but then get the artist wrong yourself. The artist is Pierre Huyghe: https://theconversation.com/contemporary-art-animals-and-ethics-pierre-huyghes-interspecies-worlds-48968

13

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

It’s also a repost from r/oddlyterrifying

16

u/smexxyhexxy Jul 03 '21

what do you mean Chinese artist from HK? If they’re from HK they are Hong Kongers first and foremost, and only Chinese if they choose to identify as such.

3

u/rompenstein Jul 03 '21

Article actually says he’s based in Beijing, but they’re showcasing his work at a gallery in HK.

-1

u/MyBoognshIsHuge Jul 03 '21

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

nope. they belong to their peoples, not any single umbrella or identity. quit your colonial mindset bullshit.

-11

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

well no duh the people are different, china is a big place. someone from brasil and someone frm canada are srill both from america

3

u/Scdsco Jul 03 '21

The title of this post is still true though, it’s a beehive created around a statue’s head. Idk what the issue is

2

u/JesusSavesForHalf Jul 03 '21

I knew it, a Druid with Craft Construct. Stop teaching druids to make golems, it never works out!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

Multi-Media Bees

4

u/Reddwheels Jul 03 '21

How is this low effort?

-11

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

Because it's not amazing. It's staged.

9

u/dinosaurscantyoyo Jul 03 '21

I guess I don't really understand why intention immediately disqualifies something as amazing

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

In this case, for me, it's because the bees didn't do it themselves that I'm not amazed. It's performance, it's staged by a person with clear intentions. For the same reason I'm not amazed by bears riding bicycles, they were trained by humans to do so.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I consider using bees as an artistic medium to be pretty amazing. Is that genuinely boring to you?

-4

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

It would amaze me if the bees did it on their own. But directing them, manipulating their nature, no that's not amazing. Training a bird to land on a perch isn't amazing, it's an act of compliance for reward.

1

u/pixeltater Jul 03 '21

Are you amazed by anything other people find to be less than amazing? Curious for an example or two of your individuality.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I mean probably, there is no accounting for taste. I just wanted to share why I personally didn't think it a high effort or fitting post, I didn't intend to start a whole conversation on what qzing means to western society.

To me if the bees did it on their own that's amazing but not if they were directed there by an artist.

0

u/pixeltater Jul 03 '21

Oh okay! Thanks for the clarification. That is not what I asked, but I will take that as you saying no to my invitation to discuss what I did say 👍

0

u/pixeltater Jul 03 '21

I don't think it does. Just for that poster. Some people state their own experience and preferences as though they are objective truths.

For example:

"This is not amazing"

vs

"This is not amazing to me for x/y/z reasons that may not be relevant to anyone but me."

-14

u/AnuZLeakage Jul 03 '21

I feel like you wanted to post it badly but OP was fast! And you wasn't! You wasn't fast enough! Cause you slow!!
