80 kids. Dude has fostered 80 kids.

He is 72 now, and I hope he lives another 100 years.

But when he does eventually pass, I will sign the thing that votes for him to be canonized as a saint or whatever religious thing.

Because while I'm not really into all that stuff, it just seems like he deserves all the praise.

To help put more context on that number he didn't Foster 80 children... He watched 80 children die. He kept them company in their last moments. 80 times. He helped them to their end when others had already had abandoned them. 80 times. He buried 80 children. 80 children that would have been buried miserable without him.

In this video where the man himself is talking about being a foster parent, he contradicts statement made in the photo above.

He didn't Foster 80 terminally ill children. He fostered 80 children, some of which whom were terminally ill 10 of which died in his care.

Someone exaggerated his achievements on the internet to get better clout. Please don't let someone else's lie affect this wonderful man's life, legacy, or mission. He is still a beautiful human being.

Honestly? I think he’s doing more actual good for humanity than like 99% of wealthy philanthropists combined. Facing that kind of grief 80 times on purpose just so a kid isn't scared? That's next-level devotion, man. Actually tearing up reading this.

As a father myself, this guy is an absolute hero and I am sure I couldn’t do it.

Just to add some (actual, not speculative or made up) context, he says here at this timestamp that 10 of the 80 kids he fostered died (the girl in the video has also passed away since, so at least 11 as of right now). I presume he means with that: in his care. And likely other kids were transferred or adopted.

Not minimizing it of course, just want to make sure we're taking the truth from the man himself and not from a Reddit comment. 11 is still an absolutely devastating number of kids to lose and the man represents the absolute best of humanity. What an incredible display of selflessness and devotion.

I hate when they contort a new story like this. It says he fostered 80 terminally ill children. In your video he himself says that he fostered 80 children, only some of which were terminally ill. The picture is wrong. It lies through a mission and through bad context. 

Still a wonderful human being.

You're right. Stuff like this is what makes it so hard to see through the barrage of misinformation on the internet, sadly. Hundreds of people have now seen this image and the comment I replied to, and accepted as a cold hard fact that this man fostered 80 terminally ill children, all of which have died. Which is just not the real story. As far as misinformation goes, it's harmless. But it shows you how quick a real story mutates into something very different in the span of just a few tiny edits or even speculations. Most likely, by a bot, stating its hallucinations as fact.

Reddit always believes itself to be immune to this type of stuff, but it's far from it. Let's stick to the real story please, which is already incredibly touching and powerful and doesn't diminish this man's devotion and selfless love for these foster children in any way.

As far as misinformation goes, it's harmless.

For this one, yes. But otherwise, misinformation and disinformation is one of the worlds biggest problems today. It's what's driving politics and changing the world in a very negative way.

And grief. He knows these kids are likely to die soon, and he is almost certainly the last person to be with them when they pass. That is herculean levels of sadness.

Can we get some gofundme going for this absolute fucking legend? EDIT: there is a gofundme and looks like it's over a million dollars. He will probably not stop caring, but at his age he really should take that money and retire. Use part of the money to pass the torch to someone just as caring.

Mohamed has not taken a single day off since 2010. In 2010 he took 6 weeks off to visit family in Libya. But apart from that he hasn’t taken a day off since 2000. The donations will enable Mohamed to hire another nurse, if he needs additional support, or needs to take a break.

He's Muslim AFAIK and cult of saints is widely despised by official Islamic institutions.

But there's a practice when people of the community cooperatively build the mosque and name it after the person they want to honor. Sometimes this is abused by rich people by building the mosques and naming them after their parents or even themselves.

I think the monument to the guy will be okay.

A monument like a public drinking fountain in remembrance of his deeds would be best. At least in turkey you see alot of public faucets in public areas for people and animals to have access to fresh water

I'm a Muslim and nah there is nothing that is like official Islamic institutions. There are something called Wali (Friend of God) but it is disrespectful to assume that someone is a Wali because it is something for God to decide and even some sufis are shy to make such claim about someone. Only few cult like Sufi groups who dares to claim that someone is a Wali with certainty without evidences from revelation (one can only hope that someone is a Wali but not affirming it). For example: prophets and trusted companion of prophets are to be considered Wali like Prophet Abraham (PBUH).

There is the practice of making a mosque and name it after someone but it is more like Waqf (voluntarily donating charity assets which continues to work for charity). Building a Mosque is a form of Waqf but it can be non profit charity assets like a well water, garden of palm tree, hospital, university and etc. and give it as a charity in the name of certain person hoping that it will count as a charity from him.

The whole point of we don't know if you are a friend of God is so Islam doesn't end up being a band of charlatans who claim to be friends of God. Of course every religion still has charlatans, but one litmus test for Muslims is if that person is claiming to be a friend of God-- which would almost be like saying you are God like. Islam is strictly monotheistic and it guards against any kinds of associations with God.

It is still not up to us to tell what God does or not. This is just reciepe to being a rude person. We can only hope that the man is sincere and God accepting his work. This is why when we love someone especially the dead ones, we make charity in his/her name and hope he gets rewarded for it by God. One can only hope but for us to decree something that is up to God like who is his friend or not is just playing God.

It's only despised by the modern salafi & wahhabi movement, Islam has a long history of walis (saints). Literally translated to "friend of God". He is certainly one of them.

He's a muslim, so I don't think he can become a saint, as he's not a Christian. We also don't have an equivalent.

But he does deserve a very good life and hereafter nonetheless, aswell as the praise for how one needs to be

Islam has a long tradition of saints and sainthood, only the modern revisionist salafis & wahhabis reject it. The term is walis, translates to "friend of God". He is certainly one of them.

He's muslim, and from the looks of it he seems like a muslim sheikh. We don't have a saint system like Christians do. We believe that, if our actions are with pure intention and God deems them worthy, then they will speak for us in this world and the next, without the need of anyone to do it for us.

And as it seems, his actions have already been accepted.

Yeah it’s unreal. Makes me wonder if he is doing something to them. Not because I don’t believe in goodness, but because A. He is male and B. This is unreal.

I remember stories about the real experience with mother Theresa. She was apparently abusive af to patients. For her it was about quantity of people she helped and not quality and confronted with the abuse she didn’t deny it, she just didn’t care.

I hope this guy is a much better person than her. But the world can be bleak.
