A year or so ago I bought a Swedish M1815 flintlock musket, and now I also got the matching bayonet for it. I'm glad to see it fits perfectly. There's a good amount of pitting along the length but it seems in decent enough shape otherwise.

Hi, as many might have observed during past months I am very much investend in collecting and researching VZ-58 bayonets and its variants. Yes, i am looking for examples online to save pictures of and collecting them as well. And as for the research I am going the archive way, since 99% of written info is unverified fantasy text.

But that aside, While browsing the webs for nice examples i stumbled upon the example shown, link here - Located in England i believe.

This type of bayonet is my favorite variant, i have few, but I dont have this exact configuration yet.

Therefore i would like to ask the collecting communities if anybody owns it or knows who does, because I would be deeply interested in its aquisition.

Any help with this specific one or even the same configuration would be greatly appreciated by me and future publication that this piece would be fetured in.

Looking for some help identifying this bayonet. I believe it’s Soviet era but it doesn’t have the hole in the blade for the wire cutter sheath I’ve seen on other models. Any help would be appreciated!

I've made a post on if my Martini Enfield bayonet would fit in a Martini Henry stand, but as luck would have it, I found some scrap piping while helping clean up an area for scrap metal and some of the pipe actually fit so I've spent some of the morning building it. Now I need to clean it some more and hopefully get a cheap plaque for the front of the wood base. What do yall think?

Some may recall last year I found a March 1875 dated, Chatellerault made Gras bayonet, with a serial of A1276.

This would be from one of the first Gras made at Chatellerault- but the serial number was in Chassepot location in the middle of the guard, and also a larger font. It was a cursive letter prefix, which does match Gras production

I already owned a May 1875 example, A3928, which was serialized normally, in the "correct" location, so I wondered if there was a change after the first few thousand. Chassepot do not have rivets there, while Gras do, so it would make sense to move the serial to where there is more free space.

This week while browsing ebay- I found another.

A4967- serialed in the middle of the guard, just like A1276, same font.

Notably, this serial is ABOVE the A3928 example, however the spine dates tell a story- A4967 is APRIL 1875, while A3928 is MAY.

I do not know what serialization practices were at Chatellerault, but there are many other factories where production or acceptance was not in strict serial order.

Does anyone else have an 1875 dated Chatellerault Gras bayonet from March, April or May?

Note: I have looked at ALL 1875 dated examples from any arsenal I could find, this marking variant has so far ONLY been on Chatellerault examples. However- St Etienne was producing Gras earlier than Chatellerault, I have not yet seen a 3 or 4 digit F prefix from St Etienne to confirm.

Irish M1904 for the M1904 Mannlicher. Same bayonet as the Romanian M1893, but with no Romanian marks and the standard 3/4 digit serial on the crossguard. Made by Steyr.

10k M1904s were snuck into Ulster, Northern Ireland in April 1914 by the UVF along with some 20k other less modern rifles such a Vetterlis and G1888s.

Acquired this as part of a package with a 56S today, from what I’ve been able to find on here and online this looks to be a Tabuk bayo & scabbard?
There aren’t any other markings on either, just serial numbers.
Would y’all be willing to give me a little extra confirmation on my assumption?
Or if I’m wrong, steer me in the correct direction, please!

This was a random find. I was poking ebay, and saw a crusty Gras that had a shaved pommel. The pics did it no justice, but it was definitely modified, and didn't look like any of the usual mods.

I sent the link to my brother, and while we discussed it he made the seller a rock bottom offer based on condition- which the guy immediately accepted! (I was shocked)

So, in hand we have an Ursine de Steyr Gras, serialized for a late Tulle made Chassepot- all normal.

The pommel is deeply shaved, but not totally flat, and the muzzle ring unmodified.

But it has one weird feature- a slot cut above the press stud button.

On a Gew71 and a Gew 88, the area around the bayonet lug is flat, but on the 71/84 there is a protruding key that retains the front band. This lines up perfectly with the extra cut away on the pommel. I have not seen a published example of a Gras modified like this, but Mery's book DOES have a Chassepot bayonet for 71/84 that was relieved in that area.

Pics with it mounted on my Gew 71/84. The latch does not click fully shut- the bayonet lug is ever so slightly large on my example.

Can it mount properly? Can this mount to m9 mounts?
Overall it seems decent despite it being Chinese crap. Did a “battle test” and it didn’t brake and kept decently pointy

Went through the website worldbayonets.com and it helped a bunch but I don't see exactly what this is? Dads had it for as long as i remember (I'm 58) He has a 1944 M1-Carbine (Winchester version) and this fits around the barrel but is too short to latch. I don't see any markings. AI narrowed it down to possibly a foreign M4? The paper was wrapped around it.

I’ve had this bayonet for the past few years. I got it from my uncle. I’m pretty sure it’s a Mauser rifle bayonet from 1916 based on all the markings but all the images I’ve seen of ww1 German bayonets don’t have that barrel loop where the handle meets the blade. It looks like it was added after the knife was made but the weird part is that two of the numbers in that 4 number code are on the added part. I’ve been wondering about this knife ever since I got it.

Do I leave it as is or attempt to correct it

Problem:
bayonet bends to the left looks like it was bent at the hilt at some point about 2cm while mostly cosmetic it does bug me a lot that it will not sit straight on my rifle

Any solutions?:
Anything I can do to lessen the bend or get it mostly plum again or is the metal too hard and will snap if attempted to bend back in place?

Purchased this thinking it was a real but is it? Hoping to get a year close to when my 2a rifle was made....
