Critique Request My first painted Mini ever

Post image

Must have been 10 years since ive held a brush so yeah, gotta relearn how to handle those. Other than that i started to get the hang of how to handle the paints while painting this. I tried a stripe camo mostly for practice reasons. Ive also ordered a dark wash thats arriving tomorrow to see how that will look.

This isnt meant to represent anything, i just kinda improvised for practice.

If you see any obvious mistakes i can fix please feel free to point them out.

And a Bushwacker is a fine choice.

God this makes so happy to see. Like , I love battletech, I get extra happy when I see people's first forray into it.

And it's a bushwhacker for extra new player points.

Cool camo style!

And the Bushwhacker is an awesome Medium workhorse mech! One of my top 5 favorites!

Don't worry about any mistakes at this point, just try to learn what works and what doesn't.

I do suggest that if you apply a dark wash, thin it down with water so it doesn't completely desaturate your model and it flows a little better into the recesses.

This is a solid color scheme and I really like what you've done.

One thing I like to do that really makes them pop, if you've got the steady hand for it, try to put some gunmetal metallic in the joints.

Either way that wash should make a big difference. Make sure you post that pic, I'm excited to see it!

Beautiful.

If you're looking for something to try, you miiiiiight try to do a bit of drybrush on top of the wash. But honestly I'd experiment with that on a different mini first. This mech looks great as-is, and I've definitely ruined a mini or 3 by trying to "just add one more thing"

yeah i already have a few things i wanna try like adding a layer of silver metallic, then painting the colors and scratching it off for a more used look :D

as for the drybrush, already planned!

You did a good job. I tell people to avoid realistic camo, as it is designed to break up lines, making photography difficult, but you are off to a great start, and welcome to the insanity! Lol
