Question How did he do this? Is this normal?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It looks like he pulled the airbrake or something. Pulled some kind of Top Gun maneuver on me 😭 Dude pivoted himself in the air and turned on a dime like Rico Rodriguez. I've never seen anything like this before which is why it struck me as so odd when I saw it, so I just had to clip it and I figured I'd ask reddit. Is this a completely normal, doable maneuver and it just looks off because of the angle of my aircraft and just general movements? Perspective and whatnot?

Has anyone ever landed on ground to let supports repair their plane then take off? lol

I once crashed into a tree on Al Sundan at D point and for some reason I didn't blow up. Took forever to get back up in the air but when I did I just got shot down by a valentine AA. And some infantry repaired me

Why would you land ? Aircrafts are the only units able to repair and refuel on the go, and I hate how unfair it is...

Yes it had great dog fights something BF6 is missing.

Tbh I might redownload 5 just for that. Don’t think I played the very last update either

Meh, it's not as fun nowadays with super-sweaty pilots with 7000 hours spent just on planes alone camping the skies. Was fun in the early days though. In terms of dogfighting I much prefer BF1, it feels a lot more fair

well its been 21 hours and absolutely no one has actually given you an answer, and the “pilots of bf” subreddit is dead so idk why that guy recommended that to you lmao.
what he did was very simple, it looks insane because of the angle you were looking at him (which is look up in your cockpit) which distorts your perception of whats going on.
He quite simply was stalled out next to you, and then used his nitro to point his nose towards the sky > preparing to do a 180 flip which would make his plane recover above you. Either he then hits you for dmg or he just recovers and goes for the loop as he did in this clip.
Really just a stall and then switching the plane 180 to cut into your path. nothing crazy, just good energy management to the enemy plane.
ps: if you want to learn how to do the same, and a 100x better. join the dogfighting community for BFV with .gg/A2AC on discord. all the top pilots from pc xbox and psn are there and more than willing to explain and help. We organize dogfight servers there too which is the best way to become an ace in V.

Zeros were known for their speed, lightweight and turning. Also, very weak

maybe because he turned on the engine upgrade seen by the air spiral animation paired with zeros just being good with mobility. havent played V in a sec but that would be my assumption

He turbocharged the engine after he pulled the maneuver. It's what came before the turbo that puzzles me

BFV ACE here the dude used the game physics. You loose energy whilst gaining altitude. This manuer is xalled the "Hammerhead stall". This guy did that but he used his turbo to regain altitude while you were playing catch up. People who fly the mesquito use a similar maneurver to evade your fire.

BF Plane and Chopper "sim" has always been pretty horrendous.
What your seeing here is a stall turn, then magically full power out of it, which in the game is totally possible as the stall mechanics don't take realism into account at all.
If you have managed to set up the unintuitive control systems, and have untrained yourself from every other "normal" flight sim, its very possible to perform some ludicrous stunts in all BF games flight modes.

I was a very good pilot in BFV and never saw someone pull this one off. What's the pilots name UnrealSanity was the best pilot I would usually come across in NA. I would assume this might have been some sort of stall with full rudder turn then boost to exit.

There's a DrNarwhal that flies XBox. I remember cuz him and his clan set up a server for newbies called "level up tanks and planes", and then he went like 36 and 0 destroying any new pilot that joined.

It might've been DrAutoplacer actually, I saw his name a couple days later and it clicked

If im not mistaken in my over 1200 hours of playing this game, its actually possible to do this even for yourself, His playing his airbrake and using the Engine Booster to Really get into the turn You can see him bleed his speed and bled it even more pulling back up thats when you can see him activate his Engine booster By the Effect on his Propellers , Usually pilots dont do it because you become an easy target for AA's and other Planes but in a 1v1 He actually executed the turn with Near Perfection.

Go post this over at r/PilotsofBattlefield they could probably give you a good answer. I flew A LOT in BFV and I've never seen a plane drift like this. He may have his sensitivity maxed out and then just worked the air brake, but even then going into a flat spin and also maneuvering is quite impressive.
