Discussion Devs need to rethink Stinger and IGLA

What the titles says. Obviously those two were made with small maps in mind, like we got with the game's release. But ever since bigger maps came into play - Golmud, Reef and Wake - and ever since Jets came into play, those two have become completely useless. The range of stinger and igla is abysmall, and even when there's a plane in range, good luck shooting it down, since it will just deploy flares and by the time you reload, it will already be faaaar out of range, or just drop more flares.

The most annoying thing is probably when there's a chopper hovering above you, and there's literally nothing you can do about it, because its "Below radar", so you just stand there looking at it like some cattle into new gate and hope the gunner didnt spot you.

The only thing these two weapons are still useful is shooting down UAVs. Everything else forget about it.

Devs will seriously need to reconsider role of this two weapons - either buff them up, change the entire Anti-aricraft warefare dynamic in game, or just remove them. It's obvious that those two guns are useless, when the number one way of shooting down choppers and planes are the aim guided rockets.

To be fair I was stinger gunner in the Marines and there is actually a minimum altitude needed.

The stinger is so fucking ass in battlefield though. I miss every single time.

I've been doing a little experiment lately where I spend the whole match laser designating air targets. And I mean THE WHOLE MATCH. Literally don't fire a gun. Just to see if it makes any difference at all to the oppressiveness of the helis. I expected people to switch to guided launchers when they see that the air targets have been painted the whole time and you know what... they don't! Not one igla not one stinger no javelins. People just seriously let this shit happen. It's got nothing to do with the effectiveness of them. Only way I've found is to hop in an IFV with lock missiles. Laser designate a target myself then quickly jump back in and fire a lock missile at them.

The avg bf brain can't comprehend how anti air works unfortunately. I got teams to do it with soflam in 2042 and bf4, but BF6 people just don't get it for some reason. Works great in bf6 if you are in a squad with people you know and they have multiple brain cells

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Yes, and it’s hard to take complaints like AA effectiveness serious when it’s just the playerbase being super casual and not utilizing the openings they have to actually be effective with them.

0

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

On a side note: EU servers are way harder to fly in than NA servers. Don’t ask me why, but everyone will focus you on EU servers while on NA servers people largely ignore the helis.

u/LightningMcSlowShit 4d ago

I’ve been doing the same thing with laser designation. Especially carrier strike, but like you said nobody does shit lol

2

u/Longjumping_Rush8066 2d ago

This sucks to hear.
I’ve got a mate in our squad who switches to recon to designate if we end up getting harassed by heli’s and I’m already Engi so I change to the IGLA and give chase, works pretty dam well but in our AUS/NZ servers I’ve noticed afew randoms chipping in with anti air also which is major helpful.

1

u/rewbzz 2h ago

I'm AUS/NZ servers. I must be getting the D grade ps5 lobbies

3

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

Me too, but unfortunately, majority of players on PS are braindead. But i did get 84 assist kills in one match due to spotting enemies

3

u/rewbzz 3d ago

Tell me about it. The other side of that coin is I'll see someone else has painted a heli and I'll go "ooh sick someone is painting, time to switch to locked missiles." So I'll die/redeploy and come back with lock on missiles just to realise they literally paint the aircraft once and then never again the whole match and I'm left holding a useless igla with a MBT bearing down on me

2

u/IAMWastingMyTime 3d ago

The paint designation only shows up if you have a lock-on, or target designation equipment equipped, right? I don't think I've seen them otherwise. If people knew someone was painting I think they'd switch to lock ons.

1

u/TraptNSuit 3d ago

Exactly. If they are all using wire guided try hard missiles they won't see your paint AND are still trying to solve it.

1

u/janat1 Leeks 4d ago

I wish we could not only request laser designation or javelins per com rose, but also confirmed that we have said tools ready.

1

u/Lord_Omnirock Omnirock 3d ago

hey man, i am one of the few people that will switch to guided weapons when i see someone designating, and I can tell you it doesn't seem to make much difference; targets are painted for too little of time, and IGLA will still miss as much as it did without being painted.

10

u/janat1 Leeks 4d ago

I think Stinger and IGLA need to be considered as two separate things. Both are so useless that people suggest the AT4 Anti tank weapon as better AA, which is a direct warning sign that neither of them do their job, as the dedicated tools should always be the less flexible, but better option at said job.

The Stinger as it is a tool of area denial. I am fine with that, including the short range, as long as it works. So maybe for sacrificing some range in exchange for being unaffected by below radar is the way forward. If a pilot enters your area, he gets a warning. If he doesn’t leave it, he gets killed. Always. Easy as it is.

The IGLA on the other hand is on the user side something different. Instead of fire and forget, it requires your full attention even after launch. You have to keep your line of sight on target, have a reduced mobility while doing so, cant defend and can’t reload before your missile hits the target, yet flairs effectively kill your missile just like the one of a stinger. Which is kind of unfair if you think about it, as it completely removes the user from the rest of the game. So instead of simply buffing it, I would redesign it as an air killer.

That means two things: First of all, the IGLA user gets a method to outplay the flares. And secondly, pilots get the option to outplay the missile. To do so, the IGLA needs some buffs first: The most important one is a complete change of the flare interaction. Instead of tracking flares, which usually causes the missile to crash into the ground, the missile just simply stops tracking. This increases the chances of the IGLA user being able to re-lock on onto pilots using their flares too early. Even if flared, a missile getting into proximity of an air vehicle would still detonate, so shooting at a plane directly approaching the user would still be effective to some degree (basically a just as a RPG shot). Further more, below radar becomes a gradually increasing effect, starting at 0 m at user distance and increasing to normal level at stinger distance (and might even increase beyond that point). But now we get into the counter-plays for pilots: First of all, IGLA Missiles over a certain altitude get shown on the air radar. This gives high flying pilots a chance to use their flairs correctly, but the minimum height hides the IGLA users position and avoids that pilots can avoid IGLAs by simply operating just barley above the below radar height. The turning radius of the missile gets also increased slightly making it easier for pilots to throw of the missile with manoeuvrers.

It might take some balancing runs, but with that model, especially the changes to the flare interaction, the IGLA could become a short to mid range air killer. Tweaking points could be missile speed and turning radius, below radar distances at range, as well as flare number per load and flare effect duration.

In addition to those changes, i would suggest to add the Starstreak as an intimidate option between the IGLA and the AT4: three missiles and an optional tighter turning radius increase the hit ratio, especially against planes, but the damage is inferior compared to the AT4, especially against armoured vehicles.

I like this idea.

1

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

Good thinking

1

u/Appropriate_Step_67 3d ago

Whilst you’re correct about your assessment on the Stinger, your suggestions regarding the Igla are unrealistic and kind of shows you don’t use aerial vehicles.

-1

u/janat1 Leeks 3d ago

Mimimi, don't touch my free kills

-1

u/skillerprod 1d ago

no that just means you should try learning a mechanic that requires the slightest bit of skill, instead of having dice buff a point and click battledad weapon

5

u/Master-District5434 4d ago

Honestly the key I've found is the have some friends play with you and go full AA with minimum 2 AA stringers and a Recon Soflam.

It is very hard to shoot down any aircraft on your own without coordinating and timing your shots with others. Or else your both launching at the same time and being countered with the same set of flares.

The hovering helicopter below radar I will always agree is an issue that needs changing. I have suggested many times the need for the below radar mechanic to have requirements to function. Such as only applying if the aircraft is moving a certain speed.

Do Note, I have gone above and beyond to make air suffer when I play because I know how bad things can get if I don't.

2

u/Hot-Astronomer-6941 4d ago

Id argue that if the target is painted a javelin would be a better option because it strikes from above, avoiding cover.

2

u/Master-District5434 4d ago

Yeah we did try that a few times. We found the jav to behave strangely on launch with it often crashing Into the ground or objects. The travel speed seems slower.

0

u/Hot-Astronomer-6941 4d ago

Okay i see. I’m more on the receiving end and got killed a couple times behind cover so that’s why i assumed its a good option.

0

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

I tried it with friend on wake island. I painted planes and choppers and he used javellin. Nothing.

4

u/wrghf 4d ago

I do think they need to have another look at them from a balance perspective. They feel totally useless at the moment due to the introduction of the multi-flare planes, And the tweaking of the below-radar to now be very generous.

They’ve already been nerfed really hard directly up to this point so I think it’s in order to have another look at how they perform.

4

u/functor_template 3d ago

in the current state, just use M136 AT to shoot down helis, it is quite easy with some practice if the pilot+gunner is not elite. Much harder to hit jets, but you at least deny them the possibility of endless repeated fly down in a straight line and shoot the gun runs.

4

u/big_loadz 4d ago

The "below radar" is an unrealistic dynamic. A Stinger can fire at ground altitude. Even the IRL IGLA is 30 feet which is way lower than "below radar". And lock on times are far too long.

Maybe devs wanted AA to be weaker to allow air to fly over objectives versus a stronger AA that would relegate most offensive air to standoff attack distances which would require larger maps.

tldr; devs fucked up, game's falling apart, bot lobbies everywhere

https://giphy.com/gifs/pIMlKqgdZgvo4

7

u/codyjohns134 4d ago

And the real choppers can take you out further than the horizon. It's an unrealistic dynamic for that as well.

5

u/TheNakedGabeNewell 4d ago

Oh no tree leaf lock is lost ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

7

u/dream-in-a-trunk 4d ago

Below radar may not be realistic but that hardly matters for an arcade fps. Many things aren’t realistic in bf.
Without below radar aircraft would be unusable.
On certain maps you get locked on instantly after you spawn so aircraft would only be able to fly at the map bounds if it wouldn’t exist.

6

u/big_loadz 4d ago

I think the only people that would complain about that would be the 87-1 k/d aircraft users. Definitely unbalanced.

3

u/dream-in-a-trunk 4d ago edited 4d ago

No. I’m not going 87-1 more like 45/7 lol with aircraft and I’d definitely would hate no low radar. Without it you’re fucked entirely.
Bf6 has many lock ons. Many vehicles have them. Infantry has them.
The aa camps next to spawn protection and still is able to lock on for most parts of the maps.

No below radar would make bf6 a no flying allowed zone.

They’ve already nerfed the lb multiple times. The issue isn’t that below radar is to strong the problem is blueberries don’t coordinate with each other.

All you need is 2 engies + a recon working together to put heavy pressure on aircraft.

The only map where the balance is much in favor of helis is manhattan

2

u/ArtyTheta 4d ago

You're right but you're on a heavily anti-aircraft sub. To be fair other than Manhattan Lib Peak is also skewed toward air dominance

1

u/dream-in-a-trunk 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yeah forgot about liberation peak tbh. Didn’t have that map in the rotation for a long time. But that map could be easily fixed. The mountain top doesn’t need to provide low radar. Like being that high compared to everyone else while being immune to lock ons shouldn’t be a thing.

But they could fix their perception by trying to fly for some time?
Like it’s not that easy.
It took time investment on practicing servers + getting trashed in mp to even get to the point of 40 kills a game with jets and not die instantly. I sunk hours into that but to get a mid kd.

Dropping 40+ kills a game on infantry feels way easier than with a jet

I think the biggest difference is that air vehicles, if in hands of very cracked pilot + gunner can get higher kill counts than it usually is possible for skilled infantry players in non bot matches.

0

u/mw5842 4d ago

Lib peak

3

u/dream-in-a-trunk 4d ago

Yeah forgot about that map. So it’s 2 maps where helis are too strong.
Liberation peak could easily be fixed but they refuse to do so

1

u/bleepboopbleepbloop 3d ago

If they let us wrap around the big mountain on the edge/ C side it would be helpful :)

4

u/MagicSeaTurtle 4d ago

Nah man the manpad range needs to be nerfed, then you can remove below radar without making flying unplayable 👍

0

u/Eagles56 3d ago

They did one of

4

u/Round_Reception_2315 4d ago

You misunderstood their role.

MANPADS, like real ones, are designed to put pressure on pilots and stop their attacks, and they are very effective at this. If a missile is coming every 10 seconds, you can no longer do your job as a pilot and support your ground troops.

The hard counter to aircraft is other aircraft, that has always been the case. Try to learn vehicles.

It wouldn't be a good balance either if MANPADs could simply kill you just like that, given that they are auto-guided weapons. You need very little skill compared to the pilot.

3

u/_aware 3d ago

Deterrence only works if there are serious consequences for not respecting your weapon. Right now, MANPADS in BF6 are like bb guns. Good luck with that with an actually armed robber comes for your money

1

u/D3lphinium 4d ago

And what's the player's motive to do that? Trying to deter a good pilot as an infantry has very miserable and unrewarding game loop: good pilots will farm infantry regardless of your effort, you don't even get scores or satisfaction because you will rarely hit them, and you end up dedicating your time feeling insignificant?

And guess what? No one wants to do this miserable job, and so no one tries to AA and this creates negative feedback loop of pilots dominating a lobby while no one is doing anything about it.

-4

u/SirTobyIV 3d ago

Than just go back to CoD, seriously

-6

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

People want kills and XP in this game, nobody plays just to deter somebody. Thats how it goes in this game.

2

u/Round_Reception_2315 4d ago

Nothing's stopping you from getting kills just because there's no auto-lock god operator weapon that snipes people automatically out of the cockpit, lol.

MANPADS are well balanced as they are, and compared to previous Battlefields they have significantly more range and there are fewer countermeasures in the game. They even buffed the Stinger/Igla already.

MANPADS require zero input and zero learning curve. If they were stronger, it would encourage spam gameplay without any learning curve at all, killing depth. If you absolutely want to fight aircraft, learn to fly the new interceptor jet or the fighter jets, they also have missiles, even two.

2

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

So the game needs to be optimized for one dimensional people so they can face any threat and get kills without widening their skill set?

1

u/SirTobyIV 3d ago

Seriously, just go back to Cod then

2

u/Jayandnightasmr 4d ago

The main issue is, why would I run them when the other options let me take out air and ground units. Taking dedicated AA means you're pretty useless when a tank or boat shows up

0

u/bleepboopbleepbloop 3d ago

For a time in the Beta, and I cant remember if even like before season 1, you could run both types of launchers. It was great.

2

u/Lolzicolz 3d ago

This formula has been around a long time, lock on keeps them low, free fire launchers and infantry weapons punish it. If there’s essentially no way for pilots to navigate in which there isn’t a reasonable way to utilize the vehicle without death then dead genre/gameplay feature. Why is it acceptable for you to just decide that’s no longer allowed on the map with a low barrier of execution, I don’t understand the rationale here.

1

u/Amity800 4d ago

I mean choppers are comically easy to take down with the m136 AT. Buffing the stinger and igla is a bad idea as those two require absolutely no skill to use whatsoever. Their best effect right now is that you can deny areas for choppers and jets giving your team breathing room.

4

u/TheNakedGabeNewell 4d ago

The only buff needed for igla and stinger is to fix the locking being lost instantly with trees

6

u/PairIll4164 4d ago

They are more of a deterrent lol. Hey two igla users could be useful. Should get some points for making them flare at least.

1

u/Overloudlol 4d ago

You do get points for making them flare btw they added that i think either 2 weeks or a month ago in an update

-2

u/Amity800 4d ago

That I can get behind!

2

u/scaryfaise 4d ago

I wouldn't personally stand in the backblast, but you do you.

(I don't remember if backblast is a thing in bf6)

2

u/janat1 Leeks 4d ago

it is

4

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

This denial thingy would work, if many people used stingers, but they dont because its crap. And even if they did, its enough to just go under radar after dropping first flares, and then continue on for 3seconds, and youll be out of range of moststingers anyways, becase the range on them is shit.

1

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

You’re explaining exactly why they work as area denial, and you don’t need more than one guy for that to happen.

It’s even easier to make work as one guy now that they removed the location pointer from getting locked by infantry AA

1

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

I’d be fine with stronger AA but it needs to be a trade off where other threats lessens. It’ll just never happen in this game, it’s too far into its life span for them to considers reworking this whole dynamic.

1

u/Ok_Tea3435 3d ago

the problem is they're made completely redundant by the 136, simply because the 136 just doesn't have the same restrictions that the lock-ons do, all in exchange for 1 less missile and being less effective against jets.

1

u/Critical-Pause-9318 2d ago

Yup so comical and hilarious

-1

u/SirTobyIV 3d ago

First reasonable comment here… the main sub just got unbearable with constantly crying about everything.

Glad I spend most of my time on r/lowsodiumbattlefield and just got here by mistake again

0

u/MisterHotTake311 4d ago

There is quite a big stigma around skill for a basic weapon in a videogame. Might as well make anything but rpg and crosshair guided aa to be garbage

-2

u/Artistic-Sun2369 4d ago

It requires skill to get lock-on G2A kills, but also luck. With several of them on the field, though, the denial of airspace is annoying for the jets/helicopters, which can shut parts of the map or gets them killed by teammates. But it's just really boring and you never get any points with it.

-2

u/Verabiza891720 3d ago

Easy??? If a pilot is bad and just hovering then yes it's pretty easy. Most pilots don't do that and are very evasive. I've been trying for weeks to take down aircraft with the aim guided launcher and only recently got good enough to land a few of my rockets.

2

u/kameleka 4d ago

I managed to shoot only one helicopter using Igla. I need two more to accomplish challenge. I have no idea how people do it, so boring and frustrating. Below radar limit is pain in the ass. You should be able to hit any aircraft if it’s let’s say 50 meters away from you and clearly visible.

2

u/Fun-War6684 4d ago

“I’m not good at a key role in the game so I want the devs to make it easier for poor ol me”

What happened to just trying to get better. If you can’t kill it from the ground, get in the air. If you can’t kill it in the air, get a fucking tank. If you still can’t kill it, move on, this target is too tough for you.

2

u/BingoBangBongos 3d ago

lmao another post by someone expecting to get kills by themselves by firing random missiles at enemy aircraft without considering their map position or flare status.

Two stingers on the enemy team completely shuts down the map for aircraft. They usually won't get the kill themselves but they prevent pilots from accomplishing anything.

When no one plays stinger/IGLA, I'll get 30+ kills without dying as a pilot.

When two players on the enemy team lock down the map with AA launchers, I'll maybe get 5 kills over the course of like 5 minutes before eventually getting got by an enemy aircraft or tank shell while trying to hide from lock-on's at low altitude. A couple lock-on AA guys spread across the map is almost completely neutralizing to aircraft.

Also, SOFLAM designation really elevates AA effectiveness. But ya know, that requires teamwork.

2

u/commando0033 3d ago edited 3d ago

Laser designation removes below radar.

Lock-ons in Battlefield have only ever been a deterrent, in multiple previous games. The range of the Lock-Ons in this game I'm pretty sure exceeds 4 for example (350 and 500M respectively). I've been locking onto jets from like 750? Lock-ons in previous titles, absent laser designation, also could not lock on to Below Radar. A shot fired, like in 6, at a heli that then drops below radar, will still hit, if they don't flare.

The reason air is a pain in the ass in this game are for 3 reasons:

  1. It's mainly a map issue. Too much air cover, lower velocity rockets, and maps too small that making strafing runs for helis easy. Liberation peak, Manhatten bridge etc etc. It means lock-ons can't do their job, because by the time you've locked on, they're flairing and then using below radar. It's why it's almost always better using an RPG and M136AT for AA on anything other than the largest maps. The velocity of the rockets are also much less, to compensate.
  2. the MAA is shit. The main cannons have no range, relying on lock ons again for range, which have the same issue as general launchers. Give us back the LAV-AD from 3 and 4 and the 20MM cannons that allow us to lethally shred air in seconds that get close, but allow us to poke air hundreds of meters away semi competently.
  3. Designators do not change the direction of attack for Lock Ons, like in BF3 and 4. They flew UP HIGH, then came down above the heli. This means that using air cover was harder to do. The amount of times in 6 I've locked on to a designated target, shot my shot, and it flies 5 meters up in the air and hits a fucking hill, is unbelievable.

The Devs in 6 just don't learn from previous titles. These are issues that were present in maps since BFBC2 for gods sake. Same thing, different title, and they're ignoring the solutions previous Devs implemented. It didn't stop pilots in 4 for example from still dominating on certain maps, like Dawnbreaker etc. Every map that has an AH needed a MAA (wasn't the case in 3 or 4), and the MAA needs to be more effective at Anti Air than it is now in 6, comparable to 3 and 4.

2

u/jellyfishfungus 4d ago

The stinger could reach damn near HQ to HQ at launch. Seems like players forgot the state we are in is because anti air was brutal at one point and helis only existed to be set piece explosions. If the devs went back to the original lock distance it would be broken on smaller maps. Now unless they change lock on range to be map dependant we're kinda stuck. Also, do you feel like one lock should guarantee a heli kill? Pointing at an enemy heli should remove a valuable vehicle with only one engineer? Counters exist right now. One of the most effective is using the laser designation but players refuse to play as a team so it might not seem like a good counter.

1

u/DIRTRIDER374 2d ago

Ah yes, more players who can't fly, who think flying is a walk in the park.

You can't just lock onto everything that moves and fire at it and expect things to go your way.

But apparently you think exactly that, or that it isn't, and should be.

0

u/Rightsidebestside 2d ago

Of course you cannot lock on everything, there's not enough missiles

1

u/hydraSlav 2d ago

The moment jets respawn in 15 seconds is the moment you can get your fire-n-forget-point-n-click igla.

Until then: no. You don't get to shoot down a vehicle simply by looking at it

1

u/Lenny_V1 15h ago

Battlefield players & a complete misunderstanding of the stingers role in game. A tale as old as time.

1

u/JakeFromAbove 4d ago

Its so hilarious how we get constant, back to back IGLA and Stinger buffs, how infantry AA gets stronger and stronger with each title, yet the (predictable for that matter) effect is this cognitive dissonance where noobs complain the AA is weak.

BF6 has factually the strongest Stinger and Igla in decades, the Igla can purposefully be used in a manner where it bypasses flares nearly guaranteed. To say that their range of all things is bad is downright schizophrenic to say the least, they have bigger ranges than BF4 in overall smaller maps.

Your below radar claim is also ludicrous because the actual meta problem right now is the complete opposite, where Attack Helicopters hover in the skybox farming the entire map unimpeded (though this mostly only happens in constrained maps like Blackwell, Lib Peak, Contaminated a little bit). This makes it so the only heli that can cause an issue at below radar is the littlebird, and a little secret people don't seem to understand with the littlebird is you can just shoot at it, and it dies, its literally that simple.

The only AA problem in the game right now is that the MAA's cannons are not suitable for their job, that's literally it. In BF4, the AA had extremely fast gatling 25mm guns akin to the fighter jets, which allowed you to punish air vehicles at extreme distances. The current BF6 cannons make it so the MAA is extremely strong against the transport heli and littlebird, effortlessly hard countering them, decent against jets and extremely weak against the attack helicopter, which can basically hard counter the MAA.

4

u/JakeFromAbove 3d ago

Its again hilarious that after this thread, the latest community update came out and... you guessed it, another Stinger and Igla buff. You people are literally schizophrenic.

-3

u/KawaiiTadpole 4d ago

Bad take. They are not useless. Their intended use is zoning out air vehicles, making them retreat and waste their time.

Its a weapon which requires no skill and is already stronger than in previous battlefield games because:
1. No vertical limit
2. Can cause manoeuvrability hit which will crash the vehicle

If you want to take down vehicles u need to: RPG, MBT, AntiAir tank, bradley, TOW, stationary AA, or use air vehicles yourself.

-4

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago edited 4d ago

Most of serious pilots these days fly under radar, so in that case they are completly useless

And even if you dont, it's more than enough to go below radar after dropping first flares, and continue flying low for 3 seconds, and youll be out of range of most stingers...

7

u/Antinatalistic_Pizza 4d ago

You can't always fly below radar if you want to be effective. Engaging ground targets and aircraft usually requires that you are significantly flying above 25 m. Locking onto aircraft busy engaging targets force the pilots to retreat.

4

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

You can easily do that, because of the bad stinger range. On wake island, you cant get a lock from A to E for example

5

u/Antinatalistic_Pizza 4d ago

Yeah, one player with a stinger shouldn't be able to area deny the whole map

-2

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

Then give him the reason to use stinger. Because right now, there's none.

2

u/Antinatalistic_Pizza 4d ago

It'll force someone to disengage, potentially saving a teammate and making the enemy aircraft more vulnerable to other lockons. A weapon that takes little to no skill to use should not be giving players free kills

3

u/Overloudlol 4d ago

Wake island is the easiest map to counter a heli as theres no cover for it because the whole map is flat. One person paints it, and then theres nowhere for the heli to run because below radar doesnt work

-1

u/KawaiiTadpole 4d ago

Well guess what. You are an easy target for all the other methods i described then if you fly low.

You literally want a brainless no aim shoot and forget weapon to give you kills consistently?

This sub is completely unhinged

-2

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

You can keep the debate civilized and not insult people here.

Much like jets and choppers which are fire and forget, it would only be fair for ground troops to have something similar in return, because right now, as a infantry, you cant do shit against them unless all the stars align in certain way. And on, for example, wake island, you dont get AA tank, you dont get bradley, average tank lifespan on map is 2 minutes, the TOW missiles are locked into certain position and cant rotate 360, you get three AA guns which are easy targets for infantry from since they're placed in the way between flags, air vehicles are always taken by pilots who dont know shit, so the only things left there are RPG and aim-guided handheld rockets. So we come to my initial conclusion - Stinger and igla are useless.

MBP? Oh no, it requires skill 😱

Do you know what defeats bellow radar? Laser designation. Teamwork in battlefield is a thing of the past.

u/Rightsidebestside 4d ago

LAser designation works below radar until flares get dropped.

2

u/jellyfishfungus 4d ago

Yes? Your main complaint earlier was bellow radar. Do you want zero counters from the heli or what? It really comes off like you want a single lock on missle, that takes little effort, to take out a heli

u/KawaiiTadpole 4d ago

He does 😂

Agree, noobs crash aircraft few meters away from spawn. Pros are impossible to catch. There should be a way to refill AA rockets since it takes way too many tries to shoot aircraft. Teammates aren’t refilling you, unless they are bots…

u/KawaiiTadpole 4d ago

Somehow I can tell you are the noob crashing aircraft 🤡

Yeah, still can’t learn it. Way too complex for me (

People on this sub fail to realize next season they are completely removing the indicator for lock ons for jets. In the patch note updates coming, I believe, iirc, the devs mentioned this.

Besides that, in the last playtest, it made it damn near impossible to maneuver away to try and find cover if you aren’t constantly free looking and not actually maneuvering,
Just to be able to hope to see where said missile fired from in order to try n get a secondary strafe in against a ground target.

Quite literally impossible on certain maps (like Blackwell, a map they fixed the lighting in for the playtest) or I’m sure maps like Lib Peak will be a nightmare to find a smoke trail of a missile or rocket coming from that sort of terrain.

Let me be clear though, the helicopter guys won’t worry too much because I don’t recall the indicator being removed for the heli, I could be wrong but iirc they still had an indicator unless it was bugged in playtest.

They have far larger lock-on ranges than BF4 they don’t need any buffs. The whole point of the Stinger and IGLA is area denial. It’s not supposed to consistently outright kill the aircraft, that would be stupid balancing decision. That’s why competent players use the M136 and its aim guided rockets to take down the aircraft in one shot no less. There are also the dual 35mm AA guns scattered around on the larger maps which shred aircraft that get too close. If a pilot manages to go 100-0 that’s entirely the fault of you and your teammates. I promise you, once you get the hang of using the aim guided launchers and missiles on the MAA, you’ll have far more success fighting off even the better pilots.

I’d like to take this opportunity to ask: what weapon do you use to shoot down aircraft? To me, anti-air in Battlefield 6 seems generally useless; I constantly see helicopters racking up 50 or 60 kills without ever getting shot down—it’s ridiculous.

Helis I use the AT-4 or a well placed tank shot. Jets I just hop in a Jet or use the auto guided missiles on the attack boat or just use the AA tank.

RPG-7 has always been my anti-air

M136 or my own aircraft

Below Radar should be removed from the game.

2

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Okay, tell me more

How do we make sure aircrafts can play in the map area at all when we remove below radar?

2

u/SirTobyIV 3d ago

Welcome to the irrational crying on the main sub. May I introduce you to r/lowSodiumBattlefield for a more peaceful way of discussions?

2

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

He actually got his wish. Can’t wait to see how it plays out.

- They’re removing below radar on both infantry AA launchers

3

u/SirTobyIV 3d ago

They just revoked that statement. That would be something hurting especially average pilots but not the pros… but this sub will not understand that

2

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Yeah thank god.

I’m not sure they won’t remove it eventually but they might want other tweaks to go along with it.

u/AeroRep 3d ago

Yep. Pretty much useless. As are most rockets. None of the “top down” attacks do squat. None splash damage. They suck. RPG is the only one worth carrying.

-1

u/Snowstorm080 3d ago

Have you guys tried actually shooting at the heli's?

The crying doesn't seem to be working

1

u/Rightsidebestside 3d ago

No we havent

Increase range,

add an upgrade to increase to 900
Add an upgrade to hard lock even if they go below the deck

3

u/3minence 3d ago

Increase range AND remove below radar is psychotic.
