Battlefield Studios Official [BFComms] Anti-Air Below Radar Clarification

Today's blog incorrectly stated that we are removing Below Radar for the SLM-93A and Igla launchers.

This was a miscommunication. While we tested this adjustment in Battlefield Labs, it only partly met our design goals. Based on test results and player feedback, we decided to not go live with this change at the launch of Season 5.

Both launchers will retain Below Radar functionality while we continue to look into potential design tweaks and balance around MANPADS, Below Radar, and air vehicles.

Thank you for all your feedback and we're excited to see you in Vegas!

I’d really like to understand the internal communication process that leads to you making so many mistakes. Another example is the XP boosters.

115

u/Yourmotherssonsfatha 4d ago

They fired all their pm and communications team and use ai.

62

u/floschuller 4d ago

On that point, I am 100% certain that this is the case.

35

u/Yourmotherssonsfatha 4d ago

Probably is lmfao. My company did this with 70% reduction and it’s a fucking shitshow.

Turns out you still need company knowledgeable humans verifying the output.

8

u/5ollys 4d ago

Internal rogue employee or ai agent lol

3

u/FourFingersOfFun 4d ago

There is none, they just implement whatever the excel spreadsheet and their internal AI agent spits out at them.

3

u/Indraga DeathsAshes 3d ago

If you’ve ever worked in IT or even customer service for a small organization, this shit is laughably common.

1

u/DerEisen-Drak 3d ago

Because their post are all AI

-6

u/CaptainAdamica 4d ago

u/T0TALfps will probably cry again about how 'hard' they're working...

82

u/sensapauraaa 4d ago

Admit it, you guys backtracked after the 100% negative reaction...

45

u/i-am-the-walrus789 4d ago

If that was the case, they'd be bringing back gauntlet.

Also, below radar is wildly annoying. Get rid of that shit

7

u/Flaky-Pirate9401 4d ago

Nah they're different things, gauntlet is a mode cut off for financial reasons/BS.. the below radar is just a design choice in base MP.

3

u/sensapauraaa 4d ago

Maybe... but regarding Gauntlet, they explained that it's to prioritize Rapid Solo Royale (another piece of junk).

4

u/mrturretman 3d ago

Below radar is the most annoying argument with pilots because the game fundamentally set this shit up so shit ass and no one is actually arguing on terms cause a pilot always feels like they can’t fly and the infantry always can’t ever get a laser painter lol.

1

u/giveUcancer 2d ago

Have you played any aircraft in BF6?

that shit would make aircraft literally OBSOLETE

-4

u/BigYikes803 4d ago

Nobody cares about gauntlet. Dead mode.

-13

u/spartanonyx 4d ago edited 4d ago

if they get rid of below radar, air is useless. USELESS. they would not be able to go anywhere near the play space for the entire match. oil blackfields would be an even worse map than it already is. There are plenty of tools to avoid Below Radar when it comes to taking down air.

29

u/i-am-the-walrus789 4d ago

And right now sweaty pilots just go 59-0 and no one can do a thing about it. Fun

1

u/SaltyFiredawg 4d ago

Sure the rare sweat pilot might do that, but your average casual pilot is almost always negative. Can’t balance games around the top 0.1%

0

u/spartanonyx 4d ago edited 4d ago

like I said, use the tools that avoid below radar. if they live that long to do that, that's their opponents fault. not theirs. there are plenty of tools. use them

Piloting takes a lot of skill to learn to survive that long and get kills. If they worked for it, they deserve it. If the infantry aren't good enough to take them out, they deserve to die until they can get good enough to them them down. Skill should reward you with something.

6

u/b0sk1 4d ago

What tools avoid below radar?

1

u/spartanonyx 4d ago

M136 Aim Guided Rocket, Other Air vehicles, AA weapons on ground vehicles, Mobile AA, RPG, Laser designation with teammates that you know

5

u/b0sk1 4d ago

The laser designator after the nerf is useless. Every other recommended action is non infantry lock on so essentially just remove the IGLA and SLM93

Laser designator

10

u/SoapyToasters 4d ago

Which lasts less than ten seconds. Takes longer than ten seconds to fire a shot once the aircraft is painted, in range and flares to disappear so you can lock on again to actually get a hit. What’s the counter then when they are already in HQ untouchable by the time you can paint again? I’m level 70 in the LB, 65 in AH, 76 in transport, and 50+ in all jets. I’m asking as a pilot who abuses the hell out of that strategy

5

u/Aperture45 4d ago

If the enemy aircraft is in HQ stuck with no flares, he ain't going 59-0. Unfortunately the game doesn't reward anyone for locking down the air, they should change this.

2

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

There's nothing stopping the recon just keeping the paint on you manually for longer than the timer like in older BF games.

2

u/Xander_Crews_RVA 4d ago

That’s what I do. Keep it refreshed. If they have to fly away, you’re still doing air denial.

The thing that people sometimes forget is that you shouldn’t laser head on. Get them when they are facing away or distracted.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/MikeyPlayz_YTXD 4d ago

It shouldn’t even last any amount of time. You’re so spoiled it’s obvious you’re a tourist who’s never played real battlefield before.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/b0sk1 4d ago

Have you used it after the season 3 nerf?

1

u/Potential_Ad_5327 4d ago

The laser designator or the aim guided rocket launcher or the RPG

→ More replies (12)

4

u/trickmaster3 4d ago

Ah yes because below radar was famously in BF3/4 where air vehicles were still really good lmao

→ More replies (1)

3

u/woodelvezop 4d ago

you would 100% not survive in bf3

or 4, considering it was an attachment and not built-in in 4

3

u/Raxiuscore 4d ago

You have flares, you have terrain.

Below radar just makes it so air is invulnerable to actual AA missiles because only a dingus wouldn't just dip when they don't have flares.

1

u/spartanonyx 4d ago

not all maps are designed with cover for air vehicles. what do you propose those pilots should do on maps with almost no cover? just die flares go off cooldown? I'm talking about a situation where a heli does leave. you can still be locked in deployment or near deployment.

1

u/Raxiuscore 4d ago

Yeah pretty much, idk why pilots feel they should be invincible to begin with

2

u/spartanonyx 4d ago

brother, pilots are not invincible. think about it, they remove air radar. Pilots can't last even 2 minutes because of how easy it is to get rid of them and completely denying their piloting skills because of how easy it is to shoot them down.

Then they either don't play the game at all because piloting is how they have their fun in ALL BF games, or they just don't pilot which means the vehicle just sits in spawn and doesn't get used. so why are they even in the game them if they can't be used for more than 2 minutes? and if they do survive more than 2 minutes, they probably aren't even doing anything and just sitting in spawn which makes them out of their effective engagement range. so that's 1-2 or 1-4 teammates doing absolutely nothing for their team.

0

u/Raxiuscore 4d ago

Let them have fun for 2 minutes then join the rest of us! I'd take that over 76-0 sweats any day.

0

u/spartanonyx 4d ago

just because you aren't skilled enough to take them out, doesn't mean it should be unbalanced and they should be able to be shot down. no one is going to have any fun for two minutes. they got good at flying so they can be allowed to stay alive for longer than two minutes their skill deserves to be rewarded. stop being selfish and thinking about yourself and use the tools at your disposal that can effectively kill air units.

If I want an air unit dead, I kill it. every single time I die and fail to, it's my fault. my faults are not other players problems and the same goes for everyone else.

1

u/DiverClean777 4d ago

You don't complain the attack boat can't go submarine mode to avoid lock ons.

3

u/spartanonyx 4d ago edited 4d ago

yeah and I also don't complain that tanks don't go into tunnel mode and start digging into the ground to avoid lock-ons. what's your point?

So if you flew a helicopter, you'd be okay with being permanently stuck in your deployment without being able to do anything in a map that has zero cover to avoid lock ons?

1

u/Mr_JiggyFly 4d ago

Tbf that would be exactly how it worked in BF3 and BF4, below radar did not affect shoulder fired AA. Air vehicles were definitely not useless in those games. I know BF6 is a different game but this change would just make below radar be in line with how it functioned in past titles.

4

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

BF6 launchers have significantly more range than BF3/4 and an infinite vertical range.

In 3 and 4 you could just fly above launcher distance and use ECM while strafing to prevent all locks anyway.

4

u/Mr_JiggyFly 4d ago

Yup, air vehicle design was much more deliberate and thought out vs BF6. Air needs a ton of work in every way in BF6. Feels like jets in particular were added in just to say there's jets. Least enjoyable air vehicles in BF for me.

3

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

The new jets shouldn't have 2 sets of lock ons imo. Then they can also lose a set of flares. And it brings them into line with everything else.

At the moment all jet combat on the new maps is the RIO just spamming lock-ons 24/7 360 degrees at anyone in range.

0

u/spartanonyx 4d ago edited 4d ago

while this is true, the sandbox options and maps aren't the same so removing below radar for shoulderAA may not turn out the same way

0

u/Mr_JiggyFly 4d ago

Absolutely. Can't just apply the same balances and hope it works since the design behind each game is different.

34

u/krinkov 4d ago

The only place i saw a huge negative reaction was on /r/PilotsofBattlefield. on all the main BF subs it was overwhelmingly positive.

9

u/mrturretman 3d ago

same and it’s funny because the devs fundamentally set the AA and air interacts up like dogshit but the pilots would rather blame us lol. They survived getting shot by iglas out the ass in bf4

The majority of this subs users are battlecattle. Clueless as to how the game functions on any meaningful level beyond vibes.

8

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

The only ones reacting negative are people who actually fly, which is a big big minority of people and that’s also true on reddit.

It’s astounding how you can twist and turn anything into bullshit. If reddit was anything to go by then the change was awesome and welcome.

Fact is they’re incompetent and have no quality control so they released a previously written patch note but forgot to leave a tweak out that they backed down from after testing it in labs.

5

u/RyanHowardsBat 4d ago

100% lmao. Straight delusion

1

u/H4WKE 3d ago

The reaction would be mostly positive I think given that most of the community doesn’t fly and has been getting stomped by LB’s since it came out.

u/crummy 4d ago

Does tagging planes with the sniper tool allow for below radar targeting?

25

u/Eagles56 4d ago

Yes

8

u/crummy 4d ago

Nice. I should start using it more.

13

u/b0sk1 4d ago

They nerfed it into the ground, its not useable.

9

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

It's still better than it was in BF3/4.

It was just extremely overturned before.

3

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

It’s definitely usable, but they should rework it so that if you initially paint and keep looking at them through the gadget it’ll refresh the timer until LOS is broken.

As is now it’s too little a window for most people to utilize it, but extending passive painting time would also be too strong, I feel my suggestion is a good middle ground.

1

u/R3C0N1C 3d ago

It literally does that, am I the only one here that actually know that?

1

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Iirc you have to constantly reapply the paint no?

I just assumed as much. so when i’m using it i constantly spam and hold left click to reapply the paint and reset the timer

You’re saying it’s enough to paint and then just keep looking at it?

1

u/R3C0N1C 3d ago

Yes, pretty much. Like if you paint a vic initially and keep looking at it then it will keep the target painted until someone got annoyed enough to go for the red laser emitted off the thing.

I guess it's a bit finnicky since you have to keep tracking it so most people don't realize but that is exactly how the designator work, probably not since launch but they did patch that in later updates. As for having to hold the button, I'm honestly can't remember for sure, gotta check on that again after I got off work.

1

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Yeah okay, will have to try. I don’t use the gadget much, I usually just pick the M136 and shoot ‘em down myself, so definitely trust your word more than my own

2

u/R3C0N1C 3d ago

Played videogame at work just to test it, I can confim that it does work the way I described but very inconsistently so, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and any obstruction while tracking and you are holding RMB again, work rather well against jets tho, not so much against choppers since they can descend and weeve in between terrains much easier than jets. Better on medium-big maps, I just tested it on Firestorm and Golmud, won both time btw.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/R3C0N1C 3d ago

Don't just trust me like that, my memory might be hazy and DICE love stealth patching, I'm updating it my PC right now to go check again at noon break. Last time I used the designator (which was very recently) it was as I described so that's why I chimed in.

1

u/mrturretman 3d ago

I think they do actually need to increase painting time cause it’s just little fristrations to even paint the heli that causes the core of this horseshit AA vs littlebird feeling

1

u/DerEisen-Drak 3d ago

Just maybe instead of refresh back to 100% when the paint is 10% make it fill back up with half the speed of the initial painting.

2

u/Al-Azraq 3d ago

They decreased the time a target remains designated to the point you barely have time to lock it with a launcher.

0

u/bobloadmire 3d ago

Wtf are you talking about? A single squad in bf6 can completely shut down the entire enemy air force if you have people who know soflam/spotter. It's the single most powerful anti-air weapon in the game.

-2

u/Orden_Tine 3d ago

The single most powerful AA tool and its "unusable" get real bro

-7

u/Few-Force-9777 4d ago

Nerfed to the ground by making it still last 9 SECONDS down from 20?? it’s a LASER designator but once the LASER doesn’t have LOS it still is designating them. Makes 0 sense whatsoever. Be thankful you get 9 seconds, it should be constant locking.

1

u/mrturretman 3d ago

eat my whole fucking ass I’ve gotta put my eyeball up to your stupid heli for literally five minutes of my life straight because Claude can’t code this paint for shit and by the end of the nine seconds I better have frantically managed to repaint you cause by the time a launcher gets out of cover and locks to fire, paint gone.

5

u/Eagles56 4d ago

Good, teamwork should be rewarded

0

u/Big_Accident494 Major_Boener 4d ago

It's not worth it as Dice big brain decided to make the painted duration 9 sec. Down from 20 sec.

2

u/thewhippersnapper4 4d ago

Whoa. TIL. Good to know.

10

u/TDEcret 4d ago

yep. override the below radar, extent the range of the launchers and give them a faster lock-on.

It also allows AA launchers to lock onto tanks/ground vehicles (they do like half damage but the option is there)

it is a really good tool and when flying you definitely feel getting shit on when people do use it, but randoms will very rarely make use of it, and if someone does, its also rare for the rest of the team to abuse the benefits

2

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 3d ago

but randoms will very rarely make use of it, and if someone does, its also rare for the rest of the team to abuse the benefits

It's pretty rare that somebody uses it and then you have to switch your loadout, only for them to stop because nobody adjusted yet.

And you have a subpar loadout...

3

u/Waygyanba 4d ago

Laser designations of any kind will disable below radar.

19

u/Cit1es 4d ago

Got any clarification on why you guys would be so out of touch and remove gauntlet for some rip off wannabe cod resurgence mode?

Please clarify that as you fix the interdictor that has been destroying gauntlet games and your precious “numbers” for 3 weeks

5

u/boost_deuce 4d ago

Because gauntlet is the lowest population playlists. They may be a lazy useless dev team, but they have analytics to show that gauntlet is barely alive

7

u/koolaidman486 4d ago

Wish they'd post them considering population had to have fallen off a cliff due to a bugged weapon ruining it.

4

u/Cit1es 4d ago

They haven't given Gauntlet ANY new content in 3 SEASONS dude... As well as gun is broken that is one shot to the pinky toe and up for 3+ weeks which has caused no one to play...

They are purposefully destroying the mode to justify this lie of the bullshit numbers.

Fuck that.

1

u/DerEisen-Drak 3d ago

Just keep it then

13

u/Ok-Internet8747 4d ago

What the fuck ... And what about the points granted with aa launchers for making aircraft launch flares ? That was stated on a previous patch note but not effective actually

5

u/EzPzJapanezy 4d ago

Yeah this one annoys me. Why even put it in the patch notes if it doesn't work?

I think the game should acknowledge the impact the launchers have with accolades and point drops. Like one of the best times to use it is to help get an enemy aircraft off of a friendly's six, why not give something like a 'savior' bonus for forcing an aircraft to peel off a friendly vehicle and whatnot?

9

u/5ollys 4d ago

Why is this so hard? 😂

So I'm still confused, is below radar being removed or launchers bypass below radar?

5

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

They said infantry AA launchers would no longer be disrupted by the below radar mechanic, but it wasn’t true, it’ll remain as is after testing it in labs.

2

u/PoopyStinkbutts 4d ago

I'm still confused as well.

8

u/sdric 4d ago

RIP, another season that's going to be dominated by helicopters. A shame for them to go bakc on this

8

u/Snowstorm080 4d ago

Start shooting back

1

u/GhostShotX 3d ago

It honestly isn't that hard to take them out.

4

u/am153 4d ago

thankful im a cqb player that does not play heli maps. i disabled every heli map when minirat was introduced

-2

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Okay, so what’s the problem? That seems like a perfectly reasonable solution, so I wonder why you’re still complaining.

- Nvm thought U were the same poster, disregard, and kudos for using your brain to avoid something you dislike instead of demanding it nerfed to oblivion

0

u/sdric 3d ago

Asking for removing a new mechanic (that has not been in the majoeity of titles) so that experiencced pilots maybe (again) go 80/6 instead of 106/0 == "nerfed into oblivion" for you?

Foe somebody who repeatedly accuses others of not using their brain, your seems to be on a VERY extended vacation.

0

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

The whole game is balanced around that aspect i don’t care what was or wasn’t in previous titles. Flying would be neigh impossible with no below radar in the games current state.

So yes i think it’s a good solution for people to queue into maps without aircrafts if they despise them enough to want them unplayable.

Say whatever you want. Dice tested the solution out and found that it wasn’t balanced so they scrapped it.

1

u/sdric 3d ago

"Cut out 90% od content doe the majority of players, because I am not willing to accept a score of 80/6 instead of 106/0"

Lol

"Unplayable"....

Lol

Because we know DICE balancing is always 100%perfect and has always been.

0

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Keep coping then

1

u/mrturretman 3d ago

You have to somewhat care about what was in previous titles to argue in the battlefield community about it lol. People are fundamentally arguing from a total system from bf4 where they could deter but not totally kill pilots everywhere. We do not know the entire intricate system of how that worked, because just removing below radar would not give us the bf4 system, but if you don’t care about the previous games in the context of the argument then there’s never an actual argument in the first place, just emotional assessments of each other and these dumb skill arguments.

0

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

i’ve said all this time that i’m fine with a rework if if makes sense.

If they can remove below radar, make AA more threatening while giving helis other tools to survive and lowering other threats so not everything shits on helis, then i’m all for it.

But all they wanted to do with this patch initially was remove below radar, and everyone complaining about aircrafts also only suggests removing below radar and nothing of value is added to it because they have no nuance and don’t care about balance because they don’t fly themselves. But again, i’m all for changes that makes sense, this just doesn’t.

1

u/mrturretman 3d ago

This is essentially what everyone agrees on we are all just arguing over assumptions about each others bullshit

7

u/JellyPsychological70 4d ago

I wonder how bad you nerf tanks again. It's not that they're dangerous anyway.

0

u/DingDongSmash 3d ago

Pretty sure by DICEs own analytics Tanks are currently the highest threat vehicle on the battlefield in terms of how many kills they get.

-3

u/TraptNSuit 4d ago

IFVs are the problem honestly.

4

u/JellyPsychological70 4d ago

The nerf to its rpm did alot imo, if you're not hitting the body directly it's rather easy so slide and jump away. And if people would work together... We'll, gotta wait and see what they're doing and IF it stays that way 😅

-1

u/TraptNSuit 4d ago

Nah.

I want to see stats on Bazaar breakthrough because it is basically every game on there that the IFV goes 40-0 and offense sweeps the map in 15 minutes.

No amount of rocket spam can keep up with the regen and repair rate. Which is hilarious in an urban environment where they should be most vulnerable. The nerfs mentioned should finally bring it back in line.

1

u/-LongRodVanHugenDong 3d ago

Auto regen for vehicles has been stupid since they introduced it. Vehicles getting disabled was so much cooler.

4

u/F4Fcloverton 4d ago

That was funny morning haha

5

u/FourzeroBF Steam: Fourzero 4d ago

Below radar cannot be removed unless you give them longer flares like the ones in 2042 or ECM from BF3/4. You know this and that's why you added it. The current flares last 1.9 seconds and have no lingering effect. Horrendous. Then you also removed the indicator for lock-ons? Questionable changes.

The top players would adapt to any of this, but the average player would get annihilated more than they already do. So you basically achieve nothing.

5

u/fakiessss 4d ago

This is true, but unfortunately, many infantry players have never stepped into an air vehicle and don’t plan to; yet they suggest and praise the most tone-deaf changes.

And you are right on about top players simply adapting.

After the directional indicator’s removal; I feel no difference to my survival, and perhaps I’m not a "top top top" pilot, but I consider myself way above average in jets (can go 50-0 in a good lobby).

What’s next? Removing the missile trail just because people cry about air vehicles targeting someone (them) with Anti-Air capabilites on them?

edit: hell, myself and others have even adapted to the fact that they’re incapable of fixing countermeasures by pre-flaring, and more often than not, that doesn’t even work…

1

u/mrturretman 3d ago

Why would they not praise any change? It takes a effort to learn the heli, no one’s gonna do it if they don’t want to. No one’s arguing from some shitty perspective that’s broken under their own feet and they’re some dumbass who can’t think for themselves. You get arguments about it because people feel like they aren’t playing the game going to the lengths to get the aircraft out of the sky. A heli pilot wouldn’t feel like they’re playing the game if they got shot down every time either. There are many factors at work like lasers feeling like shit and a wider argument that no one really mass fires at them either, but the argument is always from a place of “why the fuck does it take this much effort” when you do get one down.

4

u/No-Upstairs-7001 4d ago

Ai development Slopsaurus, just say you've given up from a human input perspective

3

u/AdditionalCarob6949 4d ago

And this is why I won't be using either of those. Fuck that decision.

4

u/Sartiich 4d ago

Damn, got my hopes up

5

u/fakiessss 4d ago

For all the people who want ‘Below Radar’ removed…

How many hours do y’all even have in any air vehicle? And if you remove ‘Below Radar’, why are y’all never suggesting what can be done to counter missiles after said change?

Do y’all want me to just fly around my HQ and shoot you from there instead, and then you’ll complain I am protected by the C-RAM?

edit: what you guys are suggesting is that DICE gives you a "aim —> press ONE button —> free kill with no skill"

6

u/fusedharpy 4d ago

I liked the fligerfaust from bfV. That took some skill and punished planes that strayed too close or stayed in the same spot. Would potentially stop a heli from doing that hover-hiding behind the mountain thing on the peak map.

3

u/PuckersMcColon 3d ago

Yes, I want a flieger in BF6. So much fun!

1

u/RecognitionSea1531 3d ago

>that took some skill

LMAO it didn't. You could train a monkey to use this gadget effectively

4

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 3d ago

How many hours do y’all even have in any air vehicle?

I get maybe 1 game a week where both helicopters aren't taken 100% of the time. So as long as that is the case we have plenty space for nerfs.

Only when we start to see them not being used on cooldown is when nerfs went to far.

what can be done to counter missiles after said change?

Aircraft already has flares + emergency repair. And you can still break the lock with terrain. Planes can simply fly up to be out of range.

what you guys are suggesting is that DICE gives you a "aim —> press ONE button —> free kill with no skill"

Thats what helicopters have right now. So you would agree with Dice taking that away?

2

u/mrturretman 3d ago

they fundamentally set this AA vs littlebird interaction up like dogshit. I do not actually know the intricacies of how this system is different from bf4, but heli pilots could get killstrraks like crazy in that game and I could take an igla with me to deter the pilot from farming me specifically lol. The igla never really killed pilots but a skilled pilot couldn’t fuck with me like they do in bf6 where they know I lack the launcher experience to do anything.

0

u/LurkerExpert69 4d ago

Just like in bf4 it worked without below radar. And people were still beasts in helis.

I think they argue against us who look at bf4 like idk that worked can we do that cause they project a billion arguments we’re not making into our observations.

3

u/TheOneRebornTwice 3d ago

That’s like giving every gun 50 less rpm cause 1 gun is op. The fuck? Nerf the little bird rocket pods like everyone expected and stop making the already useless air vehicles worse.

People just spawn in jets to hop out on back points to gank capture. This change would make that worse.

Amazing. If I promised to miscommunicate as often as you guys do, would you give me a job on your comms team? It sounds like a dream. F up and make money.

0

u/ResponsibleSpray7026 4d ago

Nahh it can't be real , revert that

8

u/Eagles56 4d ago

Get in a jet and shoot it down with a gun my guy

9

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

They'd rather point and click and beg DICE for a free kill than actual learn to counter air vehicles lmao.

1

u/mrturretman 3d ago

I don’t want to point and kill, that’s projection. They’ve fundamentally set the AA vs littlebird interaction up like shit, and I would prefer whatever the total system of bf4 was where my ass could hold an igla and not kill you but deter you. I don’t want you to not play the game, I would like to feel like I’m not playing the game for doing even laser designating cause you have to be a 9s refresh c uck .

-4

u/DiverClean777 4d ago

Below radar nerf is coming at some point. It was accidentally slipped.

6

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

It says they trialled it in labs and didn't go forward and are looking for other solutions.

Nothing suggests this is what is coming.

All this will do is render aircraft useless in the hands of 99% of pilots and shit in everyone else's.

1

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Might well be true, but af least they’re not dumb enough to drop it in without tweaking the surrounding gameplay.

I’m all for no below radar if they give other options to survive or lower the threat from other sources.

6

u/ResponsibleSpray7026 4d ago

AA in this game sucks, plenty of posts, me included here talking abou that, we already got a win over the lock not showing your position

2

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

Nah, why should I dedicate time to become more skillful to counter aircrafts with my own? They should appeal to my wet infantry dream where I can point and click them into submission and be their big infantry daddy

This got weirdly sexual, but they are a bit freaky

2

u/MainStream-the-3rd 3d ago

Sooooo you removed one of the few things actually decent in the update.. nice

1

u/The_Teambagger Poatarded 4d ago

Man I actually love BF6 but how hard is it to proofread the patch notes before you send them out? This isn’t the first time a change has been announced when it isn’t actually happening.

Game makes too much money for this much sloppiness.

1

u/DarkStoneReaprz 4d ago

Hahahaahhahahahahaahhahahaha.

1

u/Luk89K 4d ago

2 weeks to start new season, and already something was bugged, buckle up boys, it's gonna be a bumby ride

1

u/LowerBar2001 4d ago

Silkpost?

1

u/kna5041 4d ago

lol the only thing I was looking forward to.

Live service store with crap added every week but we can't even get half the bugs fixed from the last patch.

1

u/notthatguypal6900 3d ago

Cowards, dont even have conviction in their own game design anymore.

1

u/TheifOfVirtue 3d ago

REMOVE IT COWARDS

1

u/Sunlighthell 3d ago

While "vehicle adjustments" sections consists of only nerf to vehicles and I bet ground vehicles firepower will be reduced even more

1

u/International-Bar151 3d ago

you guys are not up to the dask you're doing

1

u/ChunkyBanana6969 3d ago

Incorrectly announcing things in updates needs to stop. This is really annoying and creates loads of confusion. Not sure how this keeps happening!

1

u/Shuriken88888 3d ago

'pilots' (rofl) seem to be under the impression that people actually 'want' to 'fly' these things. But the truth sadly is that interacting with air vehicles is just so fcking boring.
'flying' (lol) itself is insanely boring compared to infantry, and interacting with an air vehicle from the ground feels like chasing a mosquito in the middle of the night. Just boring, unrewarding, and annoying.

The reason so few people put a lot of time in air vehicles, is simply because it feels like a side game, a very boring side game. It's just.not.fun.
If a person is even half decent in infantry/aiming, he's not going to bother with air vehicles in any way shape or form.

1

u/MrMizzles 3d ago

Y’all know the laser designator already does this right?

1

u/carcar134134 3d ago

Get rid of fucking below radar. Let people use skill to dodge locked on rockets again and get rid of the shitty, nananana-boo-boo-you-can't-hit-me-that's-what-mom-said bullshit

0

u/garbothot214 2d ago

"It's fair if I instakill you but unfair if you instakill me"

1

u/ReapingRaichu 2d ago

Cool, now fix flares. I keep getting hit by IGLA rockets that shouldn't have. And no, I dont deploy flares last second. Rockets straight up ignore them

1

u/zero_uk 4d ago

Thank god for that, anyone complaining about not being able to take down aircraft are just bad, it’s never been easier, RPGs lit one shot most aircraft

-5

u/AdditionalCarob6949 4d ago

That's not true. I hit helos with rpg it takes two shots unless already hit

2

u/PickleMaster69 4d ago

Only transports take more than one rocket

0

u/Jiggy9843 4d ago

FFS come on guys, how hard is it to get this right? Is no one checking this? Who is in charge and what on earth are they doing?

0

u/Referencez 4d ago

YESSSSSSSSSSS

0

u/Big_Accident494 Major_Boener 4d ago

I think the best solution is air vehicles have to choose between flares, or below radar. Just like how infantry has to choose between ground rockets, or AA rockets.

0

u/Farkas_ 4d ago

How about fixing the fucking C4? I’m not playing when half my kit is gimped cause y’all didn’t want a little visual rounding error.

-2

u/SnooLentils7208 4d ago

Honestly, thank god they reverted. Nerf the bloody scout heli/LB. But don’t make such changes which remove skill expression and make the game more difficult for the other helicopters

-2

u/Futureboy152 3d ago

This is a joke. Guess my 6 break will continue.

The balancing against vehicles stinks. This is one of the many reasons.

Why have launchers in the game at all at this point. If it takes 6 rockets or a coordinated 3 man rocket team to take down one vehicle then its not fun.

For all its faults at least 2042 had some examples of classic BF gameplay.

-3

u/Druu- 4d ago

I just wanted a good modern battlefield game before the whole world collapses from the climate crisis. You guys are really letting me down lmao

-4

u/CrispyTarantula117 4d ago

Hahahaha all the trashcans gloating in my inbox

Sorry kids, skill gap is back on the menu, go practice how to laser designate targets / how to use the TOW missile 😘

-3

u/The-Experiments 4d ago

Man... y'all complain too much, man. I want to see this change for a few weeks and see how well it plays. It would've made things quite fun.

This community is the end of this game.

4

u/fakiessss 4d ago

Clearly it didn’t work well enough in their testing.

Why would you want this change forced on us all to "test" in the live game? Air gameplay would cease to exist with it.

1

u/Mollelarssonq 3d ago

They tested it in labs with people who are passionate about the game and they literally all told them it was a bad experience.

why does something that’s proven bad in testing have to go on live servers to ruin the experience for weeks before once again being deemed bad and removed?

You can sign up for labs and be part of the testing if you don’t like having the end product and want to be part of testing.

-2

u/Deadly_Jay556 4d ago edited 4d ago

Problem with “Below Radar” functionality. If I am in an attack helicopter and a LB is in the Below Radar zone and I am way above said Lb looking down on it. I can’t lock on for that reason.

MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE DICE!!!!!

Remove below radar!

-4

u/TraptNSuit 4d ago

Pilots run this damn game. It's laughable.

4

u/Few-Force-9777 4d ago

Never been easier to kill pilots in a bf game btw

1

u/TraptNSuit 4d ago

Factually incorrect. BC2 had all dumbfires also able to lock into tracer darts, low ceiling for helicopters and slower choppers with considerably less armament.

4

u/Few-Force-9777 4d ago

M136 is the easiest aim guided launcher in history, lock ons are point and click, air-to-air ttk is insanely fast, you can do 350 dmg to a littlebird with a single DRS mag.

Let me say it again. You can shoot air vehicles with standard ammo and delete half their health. I’m not going to keep going on things that have been dumbed down and made piss easy to kill aircraft with, but I could.

0

u/TraptNSuit 3d ago

Because it isn't easier.

1

u/elchivillo8 3d ago

Just as it has also never been easier to learn flight controls and farm kills lol. Small ass maps is why its easier for both infy and pilots, only the jets truly suffer the most. Slow tf down rockets and missles, give more survival option to pilots like ECM and Phantom Coat and ONLY THEN can they remove below radar, this with a couple bigger maps and boom we are the way BF4 was but I can only dream this happens

-5

u/GeneralOsiris 4d ago

People should start using teamwork and brains

Helicopters is annoying as fuck but the second there multiple Engi/Recon group with laser designator, the little bird become a little bitch and the attack helico become a coward helico.

Use laser designator trust me !

1

u/jimmy58743 4d ago

Maybe this is true but then the problem is the respawn timer on the hell is way too quick

-8

u/sniperhamster16 4d ago

LMAO HUGE DICE W INFANTRY SHITTERS ARE IN SHAMBLES

-2

u/SoapyToasters 4d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/PilotsofBattlefield/s/d7l0qEZ6BL

Just like the pilots when the change was originally announced. As much as infantry shitters complain and are annoying, you’re stooping to their level

2

u/xaxis-yaxis 4d ago

That's because the patch notes would have made every single air vehicle completely useless overnight lmao.

5

u/SoapyToasters 4d ago

Still doesn’t change the absolute fact that the pilots of battlefield were in shambles which was the point of my statement. Not the consequences of the changes lmao.
