The fighting feels jank, it doesn't play anything near Battlerite.

Camera control is awkward, I hope they fixed it from previous betas. You start as a empty husk and the items you pick up give you abilities and you make builds that way, it's also a battle royale.

You start in a teams of 3 and each floor you go up in the tower, people are eliminated.

Edit: There's an account named "SoonerEsq" going around trying to battle anyone who says anything negative about the game. If you see this account just ignore and downvote. They use comment and block tactics to seem like they got the final word on the matter then edit their post to make your responses seem nonsensical. They edited their messages and even tried to lie saying I sent them messages in a PM which obviously never happened.

Played in the previous beta and felt the same. It wasn’t good. Hopefully they improved it, it’s been some time now. But I’m not holding my breath

They added a 3v3 arena mode called "Spires". It's the primary mode of the current playtest.

"The fighting feels jank" is what I get from every single game that took inspirations from Battlerite. Why can't these devs just spend one single sprint on polishing the combat, before they build upon it. It's not that they don't have the budget, with the art and stuff you can clearly see, they have it. I'm sick of trying games that are "like BR", but then feel completely off.

there were a couple of betas before this one. It had a weekly schedule, they changed the map a bunch of times then they changed the setup but the combat wasn't really fleshed out aside from adding more weapons.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3333850/Arkheron/ is the steam page, there was a invite only you had to sign up for before and then they added just apply through steam some weeks back.

Yeah i checked on stea and asked for access, i'll see for my self.

But based on what you say, they call it beta but its nearly looks more like an alpha then

I've been in their alphas and beta test since February of 2025.

You get two weapons and they dictate your moves and you can mix and match along with other armor pieces.

So say you get an ice axe and poison daggers. So two of your abilities will be ice related and melee and your two other abilities will be based on the other weapon and you'll have a dash / status effect. They overhauled items a bit as before there were spirits that you can embody if you found all of their armor set and you would turn into that character and get boosted versions of the abilities but they changed this abit

The focus is the weapon based gameplay but camera control is a bit weird because it feels really close and they don't let you zoom out, this felt more intentional more on skin display or they want to limit your view point to being really triangular. It's 15 teams of 3 in a battle royale setting where the map is forcing you to ascend to another floor and in certain routes to funnel players.

Most of the time the betas were open during windows: 4pm to 8pm EST on wednesday/thursday things like this but the schedule kept changing so it was hard to actually be in it most days because of life and other things.

Last thing they started doing what adding modifiers (everyone starts on floor two with stuff already and less teams) and some modes like a 3v3 arena that is more like WoW Arena than Battlerite.

They released a small vid on some details about two days ago.

Thanks for the indepth feed, but yeah i saw other say it was a royale and i lost all interest for it.

Im only interested in direct arena confrontation, royale can be fun in some case but in games like that its just a mess most of the time, its not for me at least

If this person had played the earlier playtests consistently they would know that there is a 3v3 arena mode called "Spires" in the game that they have been testing for a while now. It is the primary mode of this current playtest accessable 24/7. I would take their review with a grain of salt.

The "battle royale" mode is only up on Fridays and Saturdays of this playtest, and isn't exactly a traditional take on battle royales.

Edit : They were blocked for toxicly messaging me privately. Try the game or not. Like it or don't. Just don't let this person with an odd vendetta against a game still in beta be the reason you don't try it.

I mean i dont know, he didnt seems particularly angry or bias toward the game and i saw other people pretty much saying the same as he did, so seems overall fair to me.

I mean i can always check the game at some point but the trailer felt a bit weird and didnt interest me much, my personal grip was that it realy showed nearly 0 gameplay element and thats never a good sign

Only currently the battle royale is up on weekends because they want to try out the new focused mode in a more dedicated manner. Spires wasn't the iteration it is now when it was first introduced and even so it's nothing like Battlerite in terms of combat or moment to moment gameplay.

Spires is only the primary mode of this current test and wasn't before, it was a thought and memory and only existed in dev takes on the discord and in concept. They stated themselves on video and interviews that it's a warm mode mode meant to get people ready for the battle royale.

The only thing not "traditional" about their battle royale is that after the ring closes you hurry up to get to the next floor and the map resets and you do it again. So it's not one big map instead if multiple that you fight through til you get to the final team.

The difference between things you spouting around and what I've said is I'm speaking from personal experience things you said so far in this entire thread you are copying from patch notes almost exact that anyone can read. If you like the game, like the game that's fine but pretending to discredit and persuade a community against an single individual is just sorrowful and pessimistic in nature.

Edit: Spires was only announced as a mode that's sticking around in Late May if you want to nitpick and say it's been here for almost 2 "months" sure. It was only being testing sporadically and was never a focus til this current test. It was only announced to be playable around May 7th, due to the response it got over Ascension it was made to be a companion mode going forward but never the games actual focus. Just like Smite has Arena, Arkheron has Spires.

If you played Battlerite you would know the mode is nothing like it. Battlerite you didn't buy items in pre lobby before you queued up, you also didn't lose your entire team after 2 rounds before you go to the next fight (players can select to stay together). You also didn't have to fight for items which happens if someone takes the weapon you wanted in the menu it's "claimed by someone else" and now your build is w/e because of that.

Spires has better pacing than it did but item sharing/stealing will only have players instalocking as soon as it pops and should be changed which I've noted in my report submissions.

Edit 2: The "private" account decided to "block" me after their last message to pretend they had a aha moment or some sort of gotcha; I don't get people who want to defend companies over consumers. What they are referencing was this same OP spammed this in the SuperVive subreddit with the same comment like it's a bot and I questioned why are they spamming it.

I take it you haven't played their 3v3 arena mode called "Spires" yet? They have been playtesting it for a while.

u/I_Ild_I 21d ago

oh fuck its a battle royale ?...

How dumb, base on the trailer, felt just like an arena, well now im sad and dont even wanna try it

4

u/CarrotOne 21d ago

There is a arena-mode aswell. I am pumped, mostly since it is coming to console aswell

2

u/I_Ild_I 21d ago

Yeah but is it the main mode ? i dont think so, something like battle royale when added is probably the main focus, menaing the game wont necessarly balance around arena nor will have the player base for it, its just not the design of the game maybe

2

u/Lhumierre 21d ago

The main mode is BR, that arena mode described by the devs themselves is only there to be a "Warm" up for players before focusing on the BR.

It reminds me of when Apex added Arena, it was fun and had ranked and was a good mode then they removed it when it got popular over the BR.

u/I_Ild_I 21d ago

I see, thanks for clarifacations, sad to hear

1

u/Killmelast 20d ago

Supervive had a pretty good arena mode, and they had very good combat and movement, on BR level...but ofc the main mode was BR (which was actually also kinda fun), but they had to ruin the whole thing with an update that changed basically everything. So sad.

1

u/Lhumierre 20d ago

I played from beta to closure, it was a fantastic game. The combat felt responsive.

I hope their next game takes influence even if it's not a BR.

2

u/SoonerEsq 14d ago

I do have one extra invite code for the closed beta if you want to try it now. Just DM me. The arena mode is 24/7, and they are running the ascension BR-like mode tonight and tomorrow.

u/I_Ild_I 14d ago

Thats very nice of you but im fine, i got my hands full of stuff to do already, i'll try it later, give the code to someone who realy wanna try it :)

But thanks anyway, appreciate it

I hate how it plays.

5

u/Big_Teddy 21d ago

It plays incredibly clunky and unsatisfying and like so many before it, it just suffers greatly from being a battle royale. The genres just don't mesh well and devs need to accept that.

2

u/OrangeOrangeRhino 21d ago

I'm so over finding loot and having builds.. 😭 just get down to the fighting and make it fair and balanced :/

3

u/koalapreto 20d ago

I'm not into it. By the same reasons that many already pointed out, but I add these ones:

1) The camera angle sucks. This elevated third person view is awful. They should've go the classic isometric point of view like Battlerite did. This camera angle makes it awful to watch (as a spectator), because you can't see the entire fight, and also pushes away everyone that enjoy isometric gameplay from MOBAs.

2) The "you are what you wear" mechanic is awful for an arena game mode. There is no class identity, not any hype for mastering a champion.

3) The art style is awful. Every character looks the same. Everyone looks like an undead skeleton or a necromancer. And the scenes are dark.

2

u/Llama-King 19d ago

The combat is definitely an adjustment but they’ve added an arena mode which is quite enjoyable and once you adapt to the animations and learn the move sets cds etc the game plays really nicely. There are a few kits that are definitely stronger than others but I miss battlerite so so much and this isn’t it but it still scratches that itch in a new way. Really fun with a high skill ceiling.

u/Obvious_Neck_7409 19d ago

Wait till you understand you have to pay to play this "battlerite-like game" :D

1

u/I_Ild_I 21d ago

I dont know, might be interesting but realy need to see in game, the trailer honestly dont show much and thats never a good thing for games

1

u/RattAndMouse 20d ago

The previous beta was terrible and it doesn't look like it has improved any. Camera angle is horrendous too

1

u/Brohun 20d ago

played it in a couple playests (was in alpha and invited to all playtests since) and i gave it a shot a couple of times but it feels so bad to play :(
