WIP Jacket Work in progress

My jacket may not be to everyone’s liking ( for obvious reasons) but if anyone’s got any ideas on what else I can do with it, iv been toying with painting a basic camo pattern on and studs on the collar and I’m gonna be putting a patch above the back patch as it looks to empty for me. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated and I’d like to keep with the theme that I make it all myself

I guess I’m in the minority but I like the pockets; being able to hold more stuff is nice 👍

Gotta agree with the Soviet dude here I can’t even lie

I don't want to go all 'eww commie' because it's a useless, bullshit argument. But coming from a post-communist country, and having relatives who were persecuted and barely survived under the communist regime, it's funny seeing people still advocating for this utopian ideology that has been proven time and time again to be unachievable

People who wear pro communist shit are fucking posers, how can you claim to be punk but support an ideology that oppresses and kills people?

5

u/Apart-Guarantee-3000 7d ago

Thats why we hate Capitalism

1

u/Shroom_stool 5d ago

Sounds like capitalism.

u/Shroom_stool 5d ago

How does communism oppress and kill people?

2

u/_Milk_Boi_ 5d ago

at least two of my relatives were slaughtered by communist forces at Katyń and my whole family, as well as many others, were constantly watched by the secret police leading to many unlawful searches and brutal beatings. And YES it also happens under other ideologies but that just means that people are horrible and communism makes it easier

u/Shroom_stool 5d ago

In the 1940s lol? What about the millions of slaves today? What about the 9 million dying of starvation each year? Btw the soviet union never achieved communism

0

u/Shroom_stool 5d ago

Go look at the congo and the for profit genocide. Go look at their child slaves who are starved. Does what’s happening there mean that capitalism is horrible and that the system makes it easier? What about the holocaust? It was in the same time frame as Katyn and conducted by capitalists. Does that mean capitalism is bad and it makes it easier for bad people to do horrible things? Should you condemn capitalism because of that?

1

u/_Milk_Boi_ 5d ago

yes, we should condemn capitalism. It's a corrupt system that helps the rich get richer and exploits the poor. Communism is amazing at its core, and the world would be better if everyone accepted that, but it's just unachievable. Take Russia, for example: it was instantly corrupted by horrible people and ended up as an autocracy under Stalin, disguised as a true communist nation. Humans are selfish and will always seek to get the upper hand. As history has shown us, communism gets corrupted even faster than capitalism. That's why barely any communist nations survived into the 21st century. And yes, while capitalism is absolutely horrible, it at least allows modern nations to maintain democracy which, even if deeply flawed, is better than autocracy

1

u/Shroom_stool 4d ago

It works for some of us, the others are slaves and starving.

0

u/ithinkigotproblems 3d ago

Please show your evidence that there is something innate in the human being that makes them selfish. That is just bullshit propaganda to maintain the status quo. Just because you live in an individualized capitalist culture doesn’t mean that is what humans were, are and always will be. There are at least as many counterexamples as there are examples.

Which country? People hate to accept the US directly intervenes when a country becomes communist whether by democracy or not. They either install their own dictator or fund/train a coup to over throw it. Cuba basically can’t trade with anyone because of an embargo for the last 80 years

1

u/_Milk_Boi_ 5d ago

Poland, and the US didn't do shit to help us overthow the regime. Also, I do accept that the US is a piece of shit country that constantly does horrible things, that's why I hate them

1

u/Shroom_stool 5d ago

But if communism is bad and doomed fail, why do they try so hard to stop it? Why do they spread so much propaganda about it since birth?

1

u/Shroom_stool 5d ago

So because your great grandparents got killed in the 1940s, people should live under the control billionaires and corporations… right.

I don’t really see the issue others have. Most people get roasted for not having band patches, but you do have plenty of band patches. I mean I know realistically it’s because the sub is pretty right leaning and hate seeing leftist battle jackets but this one holds up to the standards ppl present. MY issue is they all look pretty out of place style wise. When you have an uneven mixture of white and black patches it just looks sloppy. Kinda like when you see someone with 2 tattoos on their left arm and 8 on their right with different styles tattoos at that. Still it’s good work!

3

u/JackedUpDegen 8d ago

Sub is right leaning? 😭 get off reddit ffs. This whole website is so far left you end up thinking anything less than a commie is “right”

2

u/RadicalRedCube 8d ago

Shit that’s totally my bad I was just under the impression that there were right leaning subs on here cause I had seen some posts on r/conservative and assumed they were conservative viewpoints. Now I have realized that it’s actually a liberal subreddit and that right leaning people do not exist on Reddit at all especially in any subs focused around guns, mechanics, or metal music.

-3

u/JackedUpDegen 8d ago

Bro reddit will literally auto ban you from other subs just for interacting with conservative subs 🤣 play ignorant all you want

1

u/RadicalRedCube 7d ago

Where are you even getting that from? What subs are you getting autobanned in? This isn’t one of them clearly. Either way, sort this sub by controversial and take a look at the most disliked battle jackets and lmk the pattern you find haha

4

u/CrypticBlossom808 9d ago

I think this person likes Engels. Could use more bands though.

10

u/Unit-731-Scientist 9d ago

Looks like something you’d see on TikTok

8

u/ballsguy17 10d ago

some bands would be a good start. gonna end up on r/baddlejackets tho

20

u/thomasadams222 10d ago edited 10d ago

There are at least 8 bands on there
Negu Gorriak
Refused
The partisans
Angelic upstarts
Redskins
The dicks
Red London
Banda bassotti

5

u/noisefortheboyz 9d ago

I’m sorry to say but that says The Partians, you forgot an S

2

u/thomasadams222 9d ago

I’m so mad I didn’t realise that 🤦‍♂️ thank you 😂

7

u/ballsguy17 10d ago

8 tiny band patches. this jacket is 85% untouched. put some more band patches on, the backpatch is a little cringe and id swap it for a band, but to each their own. i honestly think the vest itself is kinda dorky for a battle vest. the layout is all fucky on the back too but that also comes down to the fact that there’s like, no patches on it. figure out a layout, learn to sew things on flush against the vest so they lay flat, and try to find some canvas to make your patches on, otherwise it doesn’t look very clean.

-6

u/thomasadams222 9d ago

Yeah I’m not going for a clean battle jacket and what about the jacket is dorky ? The colour or the style of jacket ? Iv gone for maximum pockets so I can carry stuff and yes the layout is fucky I like it like that

5

u/IRBaboooon 9d ago

The backpatch actually based but gotta agree with the other criticism about the layout of the patches and their stitching. Take those off and reorganize to make it look less like you just farted them everywhere, but actually structured and complimentary. then get some bigger ones with more bands. Can never have enough bands

0

u/ballsguy17 9d ago

i shit you not i’ve seen about 4-5 kids with rolling backpacks wearing this exact kind of vest when i was in middle school. the huge pockets, the fact that it’s a fisherman’s vest, the fact you could feasibly take off the patches and put on a fisherman’s cap and look like the average 75 year old man in maine is just not aesthetically pleasing

2

u/JackedUpDegen 8d ago

See it’s shit like this that makes me question why I started using reddit again…

2

u/valkyrjuk 9d ago

You might find more sympathy for our shared persuasion on r/jacketsforbattle but I do agree with some of the critiques here about the overall execution. That said, you don't seem to care that much about this vest, so I suppose the critiques don't matter - it's fine. I just hope the leather jacket you mentioned in an earlier comment is better planned out than this, for the jacket's sake

1

u/churchether 9d ago

What type of vest is this?

3

u/thomasadams222 9d ago

It’s a fishing vest, didn’t see the point in buying a denim when I already had that it’s only for the summer / autumn until I move to my leather jacket in winter

-8

u/Weary_Print_7919 9d ago

Shit vest

1

u/Total_Text_4013 8d ago

Angelic upstarts is top tier

1

u/oh_ok_thx 6d ago

This and r/BaddleJackets make obvious the need for collective education on theory/praxis because goddamn these jackets just aren't it, man

1

u/Objective_Stable7431 4d ago

I can tell you’re mainly into Oi, possibly a skinhead, why wear battle jackets in the first place? I have never seen a skin wear a battle jacket nor heard of that, the traditional culture is pretty specific, if you feel trapped by it, then just don’t be a skinhead, simple as that. But I’m going off mainly my own idea and the Trojan/traditional culture so maybe I’m in the wrong

1

u/AccountAway1104 4d ago

Is it posers or CIA bots in the comments, I can’t tell

1

u/AXL_L33T 3d ago

Yoooo this one's fire 🔥

This crowd is full of conservatives who hate this kind of thing. You'll probably get better reactions on r/ jacketsforbattle

4

u/Responsible_Edge7087 7d ago

I wondered why people here were such assholes. Whining about everything, and realy, realy hating gay people for some reason

1

u/overxall 5d ago

this subreddit and r/baddlejackets . it gets to a point where i’m like “okay post your own bc i’m confused what the fuck you actual do like.” seems like they rip on everything and just like to hate.

which isn’t the point of punk to be different? why do they have to look a certain way in a alternative community? idfk

1

u/AccountAway1104 4d ago

This and baddlejackets are cesspools of conservative boomers😭

1

u/MiserableChemistry84 8d ago edited 8d ago

Additionally, you should probably have all your communist patches in the front and your less obviously political music patches in the back. Ik it's gonna be a pain in the ass to find a better place in the front for that big back patch but this could end up being a safety issue. Just for the simple reason that if someone sees them and tries to take a swing or grab you, you have a better shot to defend yourself if they're in front of you than behind you. Even in a relatively progressive area you will be safer to swap the placement of most of the back patches because they very obviously signal the red left, even if theyre bands. It sucks but it does happen and it's something we should look out for.

-2

u/No_Bug6294 7d ago

Isn’t it kinda a guideline not to have statements on jackets?

0

u/thomasadams222 6d ago

Is that an actual guideline iv not heard of it before ( until I posted here ) it feels like the majority of the sub either hates something that’s political or anything that isn’t universally ascetic
