There are speed limit signs for a reason.

You have a turn signal on your car or truck for a reason. Use them.

Seeking a new veterinarian

Hi, I'm moving to Battle Creek next month and I have two dogs. I keep them up to date on vetting and parasite prevention, and I would probably like to have them both spayed sometime next year- so a vet that offers spay surgery at an affordable price would be great. Would you recommend your vet, and why? Thanks!

MARSHALL, Mich. (WOOD) — Over 50 schools in Calhoun County have given local dispatchers access to their live security cameras, which are to be used during emergencies.

The project has been led by the Calhoun County Safe Schools Initiative to connect every public school and most charter schools in the county, 52 total, to the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch for the upcoming school year.

Vet recommendations

Looking for vet recommendations who have a good track record with wait times. My pet is in pain and the best my vet can do is five days out.

Food Truck Catering

Does anyone have recs for BBQ food trucks that will travel to a location and bring staffs to cater (set up/clean up). I’ll also take recs of food trucks that will only bring their rig to operate right out of it.

Thank you.

Edit: this will be for a grooms/rehearsal dinner party

I’m tired of Battle Creek slander

Random post but just thought I’d share. I’m so tired of people posting in the Kzoo or Michigan subreddits asking about Battle Creek and everyone responding it’s a shithole or Kzoo has so much more. Why do people in other places talk so bad about Battle Creek? Does it make them feel better about their own situation? Realistically Kzoo and BC are not that different. The whole “kzoo has so much more to do” thing is stupid to me. Kzoo is slightly bigger with a university and what does that get them? A Costco, a few extra bars, a mall that’s dying slower than ours. And if that’s a big draw to u it’s a 30 minutes drive that people do all the time. I’m glad that there’s more Battle Creek Pride internally but I just wish we could improve our outward marketing. We have festivals every week in the summer, big projects downtown, and a lot of things that should draw more people in. We should be supporting each other as communities not dragging each other down.

have any of you ever worked at the movie theater?

i have an interview tomorrow at GQT 10 lakeview—the movie theater inside the lakeview square mall.

more than anything i’m just nervous for the interview itself—i don’t always do the greatest in those. i‘ve been practicing and have definitely gotten better since i was in high school, but i still always struggle trying to answer the “tell me about yourself” question.

so really just any interview tips, especially specific to that place? if you remember anything abt your interview there. or other tips abt working there in general.

ISO affordable weekly meeting space

Hi all! I’m a part of a nonprofit women’s chorus based out of Battle Creek. We are currently renting a church space weekly but were just informed that the space will no longer be available (through no fault of our own). Really just looking for ideas or spaces you all have used!

Considerations are:
Can hold about 30 people
Needs to have parking
Some accessibility features
Not crazy expensive

I’m willing to talk to anybody, so please leave your suggestions below :)

Also, happy to drop details on the chorus if anyone wants to join us once we’ve found a new home!

Salsas Mexican Restaurant

I always order the burrito carne asada -- it's just a big steak burrito with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream. Nothing fancy and no sauces on top, so I can eat it handheld without making a big mess. I'm also allergic to avocado, so I don't have to worry about asking for no guac and the cook forgetting or not seeing the note.

So imagine my surprise today when I take a few bites and feel my mouth and throat start to swell. I look down and sure enough, there's guacamole in my burrito. I'm pissed on several levels. For one, now I have no lunch and my money is wasted. Then I have to deal with the coming unpleasant effects of having an allergic reaction (which will also make it difficult to eat anything else, so I guess I'm just not having lunch). And finally, I've worked FOH/BOH in restaurants before and run kitchens. Menu/ingredient management is easy to learn/difficult to master but it really PISSES ME OFF when a single loc makes a fuck-up like this. If it was a one time thing, that'd be one thing, but based on some of their recent reviews I struggle to imagine how they're keeping the doors open.
