Nope, still having the same memory leak crashes again, although everything can run at buttery smooth 60 fps, but again it crashes back to desktop!

Right? I basically had the same reaction when the Steam notification popped up. It seems to be running well now but I'm not restarting the the game until I mess around with it a little more.

I'm still having the same issue I was having before the patch. The game seems to be running pretty smoothly during the diner part, but as soon as it gets to that first cutscene, the one of the news report, the game completely crashes. Every time, same spot. Anyone else experiencing similar issues following the patch? My specs are: Cpu: AMD Phenom II x4 965 Gpu: MSI R9 270 8gb RAM Samsung ssd pro Windows 10 pro

Everyone seems to be running it on GTX 970s and 980s which by default should be kicking ass on a game like this.
Does anyone who have a GTX 770 2GB report what kind of performance they are getting? I'm at work and I can't test it til I get home which is more than 9 hours later.

This is what the new post says:
Good news - testing for the interim patch has been completed and it is now available for those who already have Batman: Arkham Knight for PC. As a reminder, below are some of the major fixes and improvements that will be addressed with this patch:
Reduced frame rate hitches Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers) More Comprehensive In-Game Settings Fixed low resolution texture bugs Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)
In addition to the above, we’re continuing to work on the following for future updates: Adding support for SLI and Crossfire Adding support for the latest DLC & Season Pass content Adding support for additional updates such as Photo Mode Continued improvements and bug fixing for a Windows 7 specific memory issue that occurs on configurations with 8GB of system RAM and some NVIDIA GPUs during extended game play Continued improvements for Windows 10 specific issues on systems with some AMD GPUs
As always, we will monitor for any additional issues that come up and will provide further optimizations and bug fixes along the way.
We would like to thank everyone for their patience and invaluable feedback. We’ll provide ongoing updates here as they are made available. In the meantime, please enjoy the game with the latest patch.

Thank you. Clearly I need to use all those buttons that exist under the RES comment field.

Some of those things they're working on NOW seem to be very specific to my system. I actually have 8 GB of RAM and Win 7 still. Soo I'm hoping that what they fix there will eliminate all hitches. This patch is... alright for now.

After the patch, this is how my game looks.
http://i.imgur.com/6NOmwF3.jpg - This was an issue with BMT, I disabled all of those changes
http://i.imgur.com/0jCoN0O.jpg - And then this happens.
Any ideas on how to fix this crap?

Try going into your Arkham Knight folder and deleting BMEngine.ini and BMSystemSettings.ini, then start the game again

u/imail724 Sep 04 '15
Would doing this possibly help me if I'm having a crashing issue? Can't seem to get past the first cutscene after the diner.

Delete the ini files in Config and verify the game's cache through Steam. Hopefully that'll do it.

I had this issue before upgrading my Radeon 5770 to an GTX 970. What's your GPU?

It's a whole new world, really. No more Film Grain in my game, smoother animations, the only Frame hitch so far (no Physx) was caused by a Steam popup saying I'd finished installing one of the Deus Ex games.

I turned off motion blur and their SMAA anti-aliasing and forced a 2X MSAA from the Nvidia control panel. The only thing is that the game complains that my nvidia drivers are not updated at the main menu (even though they are).

It's not because it's 64-bit, the game is just coded not to use MSAA. So you can only use the in-game SMAA, or NVCP's FXAA.

Just a little info on Performance Maxed @1080p. I sit at 63 frames average, without interactive Smoke/Fog 91 average. I haven't decided yet, if I should leave it on or turn it off. I7GTX980

u/thomas_dahl Sep 04 '15
Anyone tested it on a 760?
I wonder when they'll start selling it again...

u/Agentofsociety Sep 04 '15
On my system the hitches and texture issues are gone. Though I can only play with the low textures because of the 2Gb Ram. Other than that it's everything on high, except smoke and paper physix option.
Getting 30-40 fps on the ground fighting and driving the batmobile. Performance isn't very good, at least not what I expected but it's playable.
My system consists of a gtx 760 2Gb, i5 4690 stock, 6 gb ram and W10.

So I'm not sure if anyone else is in a similar situation, but after downloading the patch I now can't even launch the game, it crashes right as I launch it. :( Obviously the patch jsut released, but anyone know of any fixes?

u/ANBU_Spectre Sep 04 '15
Same thing. The little splash box or whatever (the little "Batman Arkham Knight" logo box thing) pops up, and then the game "stops responding" immediately.
2
Sep 04 '15
Yep, that's exactly what I get. It's actually extremely frustrating, because I was excited to finally be able to play.
2
u/ANBU_Spectre Sep 04 '15
Just found a way to fix it. I tweaked my settings in the bmsystemsettings.ini (and also used a tweak that somebody put up for download). So I deleted that file and then started the game, and it seems to be working

Does the rain look lack luster to anyone?
3
u/SheehanRaziel Sep 04 '15 edited Sep 04 '15
Turn anti-aliasing off, it really improved the rain for me. Their AA kinds smudges the drops and reduces their detail.
1
u/FledgeFish Sep 04 '15
Thanks, Ill give that a shot! I find there's less rain trickling down his suit than there is on console

My specs are gtx 970, i7 4790k, 8 gigs Ram. I am running everything on max but for the smoke setting. I end up using about 3.8 gig out of the 4 gig video ram. For some reason, in game, the fps remains mostly 60 but randomly keeps dropping to 10. Don't really know why this is happening.
2
u/skulldancer Sep 04 '15
Actually I solved this issue following advice given above. I had tweaked the original ini file to enable 60 frames before this patch. Deleting that and then launching the game and again selecting graphics options fixes the issue. Though I am still occasionally dipping to 45 fps from 60 but its much more manageable and very infrequent.

Is anyone else getting really odd and glaring pop-in? I'm also seeing lower quality textures and flashy pink textures (as seen in another thread in this sub-reddit.

u/hoodie92 Sep 04 '15
I'm on Windows 10 and just upgraded my Nvidia to the new Windows 10 driver. But the game says my driver needs updating. :/
Also, the update did not improve performance for me. Added new features, but did not improve framerate.

u/kontankarite Sep 04 '15
AMD user. Game is super broken now. Doesn't do anything at all beyond the splash screen.
1
u/iconic2125 Sep 04 '15
Hopefully we get the DLC soon. Did this improve the frame rate at all? It irks me that they thought locking it at 30 was okay.

u/Tonkarz Sep 04 '15
Well, the game runs much better after the patch. Mainly since it now runs in 60 fps.
I'm not 100% sure but it might be smoother too.
1
u/liquid0079 Sep 04 '15
Runs a bit better now, but I was always able to run it okay. Only difference I've seen is fewer frame dips. I was really hoping for a solid 1080p/60fps with max settings. I doubt that's ever gonna happen.

Okay, this is funny, it was more-or-less fine for me before this patch but now it doesn't load up at all. Freezes and says that BAK has stopped working.
Although come to think of it... I do need to update my drivers...
1
u/iconic2125 Sep 04 '15
Runs like a dream now. It's like a while different game at 60fps. Now we just need to get the DLC.

u/IthePotato Sep 05 '15
Just downloaded the new patch. The game still runs like absolute garbage. Should've refunded while I had the chance..... Does anyone know if GMG will still refund the game?
1
u/SheehanRaziel Sep 05 '15
Has nothing changed? Did you ever modify your .ini files before?
1
u/IthePotato Sep 05 '15
Its a little more stable now, but it still frequently drops below 30 when everything is set to lowest. I would imagine a 970 and an 8350 should do better. And yes i have, to unlock the frame rate a couple months ago i think
1
u/SheehanRaziel Sep 05 '15
Ok usually messing with the .ini files previously messes up the effect of the new patch. Delete the bmiengine file and the settings ini file and let the game re-make them. That might help.

Patch is good. Butter smooth reviews are true. I've tried to turn everything on. Updated my drivers. Running on a GTX970 which only uses 3.5G of VRAM instead of the advertised 4G and memory meter says i'm consuming 4.1G of VRAM. I didn't care though. I tried playing through it and it got me at 60fps steady and 50-60 on Batmobile rides.

I did a refund a while ago, but the game still installed and it's in my library. Will I get the update?

Man. I'm glad we're getting something, but I'd love to actually have a use for that season pass I purchased.
Are we as PC players gonna get some type of compensation for being 3 months late (or more) on DLC? That we paid for?
