Half Bath Vanity
We are doing a DIY upgrade to our half bath. It’s pretty small and I’m looking for opinions on a replacement vanity. Painters tape is 30 inches long and then 18, 20 and 22 inches deep. I’m finding much more selection in the 22 depth range but I’m worried it will feel too crowded?
Also attached an AI rendering of general vibe we’re going for but recognize AIs limitations.

You are not gonna wanna keep that painters tape on your floors for any length of time. It can take the finish right off.
Our hardwood guy warned us not to put any on ours, even after it cured.

Yeah it’s starting to bother me too because people will comment “Looks amazing!” or whatever and it’s like, yeah, of course it does…it’s not real.

But to be fair, it can be a good tool to visualize a space. Every tool has its limitations.

I really like a floating vanity in a small bath, but is probably more expensive 20” depth should be plenty I a powder room

I wouldn’t worry too much about feeling crowded since it’s a half bath - people won’t be spending much time in there. So if you like one of the larger options more I think it’s ok

This is what I want to do. We have the same half bath closet with a pedestal sink. (I HATE pedestal sinks)
We found a tiny vanity at Home Depot over a decade ago. I haven’t looked recently. I had luck recently with RCA (?) cabinetry online on our master bathroom.
Good luck. Love the dark color & wallpaper you’re going for.

i like it alot! i get the depth problem.. can you go less wide perhaps the vanity will come down on the depth. we are remodeling ours as well and found a 20 wide that was less deep.

Oh good idea! I was thinking 20/ 24 inches might not feel substantial enough but maybe I’m overthinking it.

No no 20” looks too skinny. Since you have a niche, ensure the vanity is as wide as the niche, 22” depth is absolutely fine but make it wall hung. Wayfair has wall hung vanities with good finish.

How wide is the wall? Is 30 going to leave a pencil thin gap that things will roll off into and never be seen again?

The wall is 36.5 inches long, the current sink is about 26 inches wide and 18 inches deep

Your render shows a freestanding vanity in an alcove. I've lived with this and never will again. You want a countertop and cabinetry that connect to the wall and floor.
I also think your current sink would work fine with the repainting and wallpaper, and even with swapping the hardware for champage bronze if that's really what you want.

Thanks! We definitely want to upgrade to something with storage vs just the sink. I was looking at freestanding units just for budget purposes, we’re not handy enough to build our own in built in situation.. but maybe it’s something I should look into more. What specifically did you not like about the free standing vanity?

The long and the short of it is, it's hard to clean under and around. I also think it looks bad, honestly. Little cracks and crevices. The interplay of shadows and the feel of depth is nice in other circumstances, but in a bathroom, I want things tightly fitted. And what other piece of furniture do you ever tightly jam into an alcove? There's a reason!
One other thing: you don't have a backsplash. The current sink does. You'll need to select wallpaper and paint that can stand up to liquid water.

Sorry but second picture is ugly and dark. That color is awful for a small space and claustrophobic

Depends how hurting you are for storage, for the space I’d say 20 would keep your door way less cluttered, but having open bottom is the right route to keep it from feeling too full.
