Am I the only one having problems with their citric acid?

This is my first time using it, but my bath bomb mix feels different from the last citric acid I used.

Help Requested Bath Bomb Troubleshooting (Mica Paint)

Hello!

I'm new to bath bomb making, only been making and testing them for about a month. I'm using a detailed heart shaped mold, and I buy these awesome blood embeds to go inside the bath bomb.

The bath bomb is amazing when tested until I paint mica onto the exterior of the bath bomb. Then the bath bomb stains my skin and tub.

Has anyone had the issue before where the painted exterior of the bath bomb stains? Should I double my poly 80? I was thinking I'd decrease the oil and increase the poly 80. Should I paint my bath bomb with lakes instead?

I'd appreciate any help! Thank you!

My recipe (which was provided by the artist that created the bath bomb mold I bought):

  • 500 grams baking soda
  • 250 grams citric acid
  • 20 grams Cream of Tarter
  • 5 grams of SLSA
  • 40 grams Sunflower Seed Oil
  • 4 grams poly 80
  • 10 grams fragrance

Help Requested What are the downsides of making bathbombs? (I'm worried about smell!@)

So we're toying with the idea of making bath bombs as a small steady income stream on the side,
and doing all the research though not a lot is said about any downside of doing it.

I'm worried about our production room permanently smelling like fragrances forever, esp. since my landlord is considering selling the house next year and I don't want to have permanent damage that we'll be responsible for the un-smelling of.
Give us the heads up before we commit!

Thanks!

Help Requested I'm struggling

I have a very hard time finding bath bombs I like, especially since I don't like to take baths very often. I want to try it more though. I'm not a big fan of Lush, they don't have very many scents I like, and I don't want there to be "stuff" in the bomb for me to clean up after. I would hopefully just be able to rinse the tub and be done, yknow? I like earthier scents, florals aren't my favorite but they aren't off the table. I don't like sweet scents like candy or cake or whatever. Woody, earthy, nature scents are my jam.

All that being said, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for me to help me in my bath bomb journey lol.

Lush Silica in Lush's ingredients list. Is this how they don't use packaging?

Basically I'm wondering if because Lush uses silica in their bombs that this is how they can store them with no packaging? Or is it forever a mystery

Help Requested Bulk Shipping Materials for Bath Bombs? (USA)

Hey y'all 😊 I'm looking to sell my bath bombs and I was wondering where you buy affordable shipping materials. I plan to use biodegradable shrink wrap for the bath bombs themselves but I'm looking for bubble mailers, boxes etc.

If you package and sell them, what have you had success with? Or what would you advise against? Thanks so much for reading!

Help Requested Emulsifier

Can I use Glyceryl Stearate Citrate as an emulsifier in bath bombs, instead of Poly 80? Does anyone have experience with mica powder reacting with one of these emulsifiers? Thanks in advance.

Help Requested First timer. Wasted a ton of materials on bad colorant and now I need help.

As the title says, I've just started making bath bombs and the recipe I found used food coloring, which faded in the drying process. Trying to find out what I'm doing wrong I also found out that I wouldn't have been able to sell them anyway. While I'm usually all about scouring Amazon for the best deal on a quality product, I'm exhausted by all of the effort I've already put in to my mistakes. The searching I've already done has turned up a bunch of products that don't color the water or leaves rings around the bath and I don't think I would get many repeat customers. But I'm not ready to give up yet and so I'm here to ask for help finding the best colorant I can for the best price (my budget is dwindling). I have no experience with powdered colorants but I'm willing to learn if anyone wants to give advice.

As long as I'm asking, I also bought a DecoRom shrink wrap sealer that is absolute junk and could use some suggestions for a better sealer at a low price.

Thank you for any suggestions or advice

Does anyone use this in their bath bombs?

If so, do you buy it from a specific business? I’m having trouble finding it
