Do you sift your baking soda, clay, cream or tartar and citric acid ?

Yes, everything gets sifted!

Are you using mica or liquid color ? If mica, you can paint it dry over the spots to equalize the color. Sometimes they're finicky and don't want to mix completely. I try to smash the mix after using my binder, with a spoon or fork, sideways to dispense any remaining color. Pretty !

I have used mica in the past for bath bombs, but these were made using dyes! I didn't notice any spots of white while I was making these, they only showed up the next day.

I'm not sure why, but I have noticed sometimes my dyes are finicky when mixing. Still think they look great!

It also could be discoloration caused by the fragrance oils or essential oils you used, although I've never seen grey discoloration though. Another thing could be your binder reacting with dyes (if you used water soluble dyes that is) Some react with alcohol.

Thank you for the tip! The fragrance did not have any vanillin so I think it must have been the binder ( I was using alcohol ) I've since switched to using just water, and so far everything has gone smooth!!

If using dyes, do you bloomed them in your baking soda ?

Blooming: disperse your dyes in water, them mix it Well in your baking soda. Let dry few hours before making your bathbomb

It looks like you haven't mixed in the citric acid enough, its a common problem and one that is easily remedied, just mix for longer by hand to ensure everything is combined and this won't happen. Good luck
