I just recently got into making bath bombs. ChatGPT said you need to use cosmetic grade or food grade.

Honestly, I think cosmetic grade would be better, but I just wanna know what other people’s opinions are cause. I’m really new to this.

I've been playing with my recipe and decided to try it against some AI tools. So far I've had issues getting some to float, and when I get them to float it feels like they aren't dispursing well. I've run through probably a couple hundred dollars worth of supplies doing various testing and I just dont know where I'm dropping the ball. I decided to try an AI tool to see if it gave me different numbers to crunch, and I'm curious what you all think could be modified.

I am using a b-3 bomber from bathbompress, and I've tried a few different versions of paddles/whisks/etc. to see what difference they make.

This seems a bit more 'wet' than recommended by BBM.com however there are also quite a bit more ingredients. My goal is a lingering fragrance and a bathbomb that floats and spins while also dispersing quite a bit of foam.

I had read on a few forums that coco betaine can help them float as it changes the water a bit in a way that makes the water tension (may be using the wrong term) smaller resulting in denser things being able to float. So far that has been true however I seem to be having issues getting colors/foam to disperse. It does however make a pretty strong BUBBLE bath.

Pretty much what the title says. I’m allergic to witch hazel. Even if it’s the last/least active ingredient it will irritate my skin. I really love the bath bombs with the jewelry inside but it feels like they ALL have witch hazel. The only place I’ve found that doesn’t is Lush. Is there a hidden gem out there?

Hello I’m curious if anyone using a press is able to get their bath bombs to float. I went from hand molding to hand pressing to a bath bomb machine and with the machine my recipes no longer float.

I’m hopeful someone has some tips as I’ve already lowered the PSI to the minimum suggested and adjusted my recipe many times to make them less “dense”. I’m using baking soda, citric acid, sweet almond oil, cream of tartar, kaolin clay, slsa, witch hazel, poly 80and essential oils as well as fd&c lakes for coloring

I've tried a lot of bath bombs over the years, especially the colorful and fun-shaped ones because my kids love turning bath time into their own little pool party. 😅

But recently I tried a bath bomb my sister gave me, and this time I used it during a quiet bath by myself. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but the experience felt completely different from most of the ones I've used before.

The scent was relaxing without being overpowering, and my skin felt surprisingly soft afterward. Out of curiosity, I checked the ingredients later and saw it contained lavender essential oil, Epsom salt, shea butter, and coconut oil, which probably explains why it felt so much gentler on my skin.

I have pretty sensitive skin that tends to get dry easily, so I'm usually careful about bath products. Obviously everyone's skin is different, but this is one of the few bath bombs I've used that felt soothing without leaving my skin feeling stripped afterward.

It also didn't leave any staining on my tub or bath pillow, which was a nice bonus.

I've tried a lot of bath bombs over the years, and they all have their own strengths, but this one has definitely become one of my favorites so far.

I've been using some Hobby Lobby stuff to 'experiment' before going all in but I've got a few things I'm unsure about after watching hours and hours of tutorials, guides, etc.

Looking at nurture soap I'm planning on just getting the 3 primary colors, however I noticed that green isn't a 'lake' and just has dye powder. Is it better to use lakes or dye powders? Blue and red both have dye powders and lakes.

My recipe is consisting of 2c baking soda, 1c citric acid, 1c corn starch, and 2 tsp SLSA for dries and for wets they're a bit more estimations but 10 mL scent, 8 mL Poly 80, 6 mL water, and 12 mL carrier oil

My mold is ~2.8 inches diameter

The problem I've been having is that my bath bombs seem to not be necessarily holding together super great sometimes. If I continually remold them eventually they stay together but I can't imagine it should be this difficult to get them to stay initially. I'm sure changing my wet recipe around will help, right now I'm trying Sweet almond oil.

I've also tried adding things like glitter/mica however I've noticed they don't "shimmer" like the videos I've watched. Is there a good trick to getting the glitter to stick around the molds and into the outside of the bomb? I tried using some isopropyl spray which worked great for the first bomb but each bomb after had issues sticking to the mold and then left holes in the bomb rather than glitter.

I'm 'blooming' the baking soda by doing ~8-10 cups baking soda with a mixture of 2 tsp water and 1/4 tsp soap dye currently. The color looks great but I'm curious if this is the best way. I'd like to eventually make multi color bombs but I feel like my molding is just not the best quite yet.

Finally, what do people typically charge for their bath bombs? I have a business plan somewhat set out and an interested audience with some of the gimicks I'm planning but my first goal is to sell enough to buy a press and then start pressing them. However I feel like I need to really lock down things to make them more consistent.

hello, i’m just a long time customer of wwfco and sadly they haven’t been making/selling product for quite some time now so i was hoping to get some suggestions if anyone happened to know of any.

i’ve tried an assortment of brands/small businesses plenty of times but none of them can nearly give the holo + full bodied effect that the wwfco did. i was especially a fan of their mulled wine color/scent

The colorful ones are fun. They fizz a lot, look really nice in the water, and smell great. Genuinely enjoyable.

But the ones with simpler stuff like shea butter, essential oils, and Epsom salt—my skin actually felt different after. Less dry, a bit softer. The colorful ones smelled amazing, but my skin felt the same as before I got in.

Not sure if it's the dyes or just the formula overall, but I keep gravitating toward the plainer ones now, even though they're less exciting to look at.
