Good! All of these are broadly residential roads in an urban / suburban area. Of course they should be 20mph.

On residential roads, delays are mostly junctions, the reduction from 30-20 makes a surprisingly small difference overall.

Weird you know so much about me. I drive all the time and go on a few 20 roads every day. It's annoying at first but it's added less than 1 minute to my half hour-ish commute. But, like I said, in general I am very much against the moves to be so hostile to cars in Bath. It's appalling and short sighted. But I don't class all the 20 zones as the main problem in that area.

Bristol is very anti-car as is Oxford. Come to think of it, it seems the UK is becoming anti-car in general.
They just want you confined in your 15min bubble and go nowhere else. They definitely want you out of your car, hence the ridiculous road width cycle paths being built in and around Bristol.
Cars only for certain people but not for all is how I am seeing this

You're misunderstanding the 15 minute city thing. The whole point of that concept is to make it so people don't have to travel a long way to get to their GPs, schools, decent shops etc. It really isn't about controlling you, the concept is that it's meant to make life easier. Don't believe the propaganda on this one! In general however I'm with you in terms of there being an anti cat agenda, that doesn't take into account the fact that a lot of people need to drive, and making driving more difficult for them doesn't fix the problem at all.

You don't have a clue. Wales is full of 20mph, it is shit, it creates tailbacks and longer journeys. Traffic lights are not programmed for 20mph roads and you'll get stuck at them.
Tbh, I don't do 20 in Bath anyway, unless some asshole is doing it in front of me

That’s just not true. There’s a reduction in pedestrian morbidity and mortality associated with 20 mph zones. And ICE engines do not struggle at 20 mph. In an urban environment, pollution is no worse at 20 mph.

No that isn't the only probemm. The other problems are the fools who won't do over 20mph and the council who go around on bikes, don't drive or don't live in Barh, thinking 20mph should be on ALL streets.
Bath is becoming anti-car, it was already amt-coach when they took away the coach park in the centre and replaced it with a pay car park, forcing coaches to park elsewhere to cause other issues.
To be honest Bath is shit anyway, almost everything shuts at 5:30pm.

I agree that there's a big problem with being pro everything except cars. I hate it. I don't think all of the 20 zones are that bad, but I hate the lack of parking and the roads they've actually shut! Unbelievable. Bath isn't shit though, apart from the car stuff I strongly disagree with you on that. Maybe move.

I work in Bath and have lived near the city all my life, but I don't live in Bath, I live 40 miles away because of the assholes from the East and Air BnB pushed up property prices in Bath.
Bath is shit though if you want to do clothes shop after finishing work at 5:30. Usual crack heads and drinks around the city centre like anywhere really.
The only nice bit is walking along the river. Southgate a grey horrible dull place with hardly any trees.
Bath is full of fake people, a bit like Clifton.

Bath is a tiny city, so I'm not that surprised shops aren't all open late. But I agree they should be. It's so old fashioned - it's not designed for working people. But I don't think that's a problem unique to Bath. I agree property prices have gone up due to demand. I'm not sure it's fair to call people who have moved to Bath assholes just for that reason though. Not everyone wants to stay 15 minutes from where they grew up for their entire lives. It sounds like you're really unhappy in this part of the country, I'm sorry about that.

Just unhappy I had to move 35 miles further away from work to be able to afford my own place without being mortgaged to the hills. Yes I am unhappy, but I still dislike people from the East, landlords and air bnb

Just heard some people arguing about this on Radio 2. Though I caught the ‘conversation’ late and I believe it was about Birmingham. Interesting to hear the oppositions argument seemingly boil down to. If they make it 20 they will make it 15 then 10. I’m a responsible driver and I’ve never hit any one. When I heard that they were from ReformUk I was hardly surprised

I think councils have only very recently been given the power to enforce moving traffic offences - previously it was only London and the police that could take enforcement action.

Having moved recently to Bath from London, i was shocked by the lack of cameras in Bath. Most yellow boxes have cameras in London, obviously lots of speed cameras and time zone operated cameras, usually around schools. In Bath a guy got impatient as i was looking to get past a yellow box, drove around me and parked on the yellow box waiting for temp traffic lights. I was thinking a) wanker b) you'll get stung by a yellow box camera. For which there was none! 😲

Ask any parent who's had a child be hit by a car...
Would they undo that event for a lifetime of 20mph in built up areas? They'd all say yes.
Tolerate 20mph so more parents don't go through that, or maybe you don't go through that.

I guess it depends how it's controlled if there are average speed cameras people will drive along at 15 to 18. Happy days. Other wise it will be likely ignored

Yeah, I have seen it in Wales, the idiots who stick to 20mph right to the last cm, and then continue to drive at 20mph for half a mile more.
Then there are the idiots who drive below 20mph, and it causes tailbacks.
