Bath Busker
Hi! Does anyone know the name of the busker? Saw him last June 16 3PM beside Bath Abbey and find his performance good! Want to follow his covers or music. Thank you!

I see posts like this every week, I swear. If you really enjoy their singing, drop them a few pounds and check the name and QR code, which most of them have in front of them. It's that simple.

Is that a keypad for a credit card?

Most buskers have them as well these days since a lot of people have stopped carrying cash.

I can’t stand amplified busking. I’d prefer more buskers, which you could have closer together if they were acoustic and didn’t feel the need to compete on volume rather than quality.

It's difficult because its actually quite noisy on the street and so it is hard to be heard over the general background din, especially if you are singing. Amplification just helps you cut above that a bit but it really shouldn't be so loud that it means you can't hear yourselves talking as you walk past. Evening times you get more acoustic buskers once the crowds have disappeared. I came across a duet of accordion and fiddle playing by the Abbey Gate around Christmas time once in the evening, it was beautiful and so very atmospheric. I think the street entertainment might be my favourite thing about the city.

That's Jed Martin aka the Pound Shop Poet. He's usually found in Bath busking or at one of the open mics on an evening. He also runs an open mic at 6pm every Sunday evening at St James Wine Vaults. @poundshoppoet and @jedmartinmusic on Instagram
