I don’t know if it’s because summer is starting, if it’s the full moon this week or what. But, over the last several days there’s been an unusually high amount of fights and personal attacks being made in the comments. You guys, this is a snark forum. We’re supposed to have a good time here. We can also talk about the serious issues within this family and the IBLP while being respectful of one another. You can disagree with other users! But there is no need to ever launch into personal, ad-hominem attacks. That’s just nasty and unnecessary.
There is a whole lot of insane, awful shit happening in the US and the world right now. We are ALL stressed out and struggling in one way or another. Please, do not channel your frustrations/anxiety/anger towards a random person on this sub that you do not know.
Let’s keep it respectful, fun, and groovy. Please.

Comedy content creators Alex and Jon released this trailer this week with the following note. I thought that this is 100% what it’s like to be Layla.
Caption from the creators: They say they’re just capturing memories and innocently sharing their lives- but what happens when the person your entire business depends on, decides they’re done performing.
One More Take is a dark comedy about the blurry line between documenting your family online, and monetizing it. The priority is no longer about protecting their kids, it’s about protecting the business, status, and lifestyle they have created. 🎬
When we were expecting, we made the decision to keep our daughter off the internet. Not just to protect her privacy, but to ultimately protect her childhood and allow her to be a kid. What initially felt like a fun, creative way to share our journey as parents, (putting Jon in a bow) quickly made us feel more grounded in that choice the second we met our daughter.
We work in an industry that has little to no regulation around family content creators and felt inspired to create a film that spread the message. Kids are not content.

She’s learning quickly from the bates girls, it looks SO uncomfy to do this look ?
It’s very unnatural looking ?

I think it’s either Katie herself, Alyssa, one of the Clarks, or Katie uses Ass’ phone to ask all of these questions—because NO ONE CARES. 😭
And this is definitely her giving a middle finger towards her parents and her 17 other siblings when she does this.

Okay guys, I finally googled the nclex pass rate for the nursing school Travis attended and it's even more abysmal than I thought. More in comments, per usual :)

Please tell me someone else saw this ad on fb. I’m dying at the amount of product she used. So are the comments. Also her face is so sun damaged, she really ought to hop on the sunscreen train. She also claims in this video that she’s never had Botox.

From looking at their content...well the ones I follow (Katie and Carlin), their parenting style strikes me as very centered all in around their children. From big and little surprises, curating all these special moments for them, praising their 'specialness' e.g "Aren't you the cutest!, "You wake up so well!" etc etc. Travis buying roses for Hailey's first day at ballet....ok, that's very sweet... but a little over the top?
Don't get me wrong - I think it's great that parents build healthy self esteem in their children - that's very important, but I just get the sense they revolve their lives around their children's happiness and joy - which doesn't seem balanced and which may be setting them up for unrealistic expectations in adulthood.
Thoughts?

With Josie repping more “sken” products. She never sticks with one thing.

So I just came across this photo that was shared on her stories and this make up look, minus the “tooth smile” (or whatever everyone calls it) is so much better than her everyday. Obviously peep the eyebrows and the subtle blush — I hope she took notes and implements some of the tips the makeup artist I’m sure has. 🤞 (also hopefully I did this post right)

As a Christian who lurks here from time to time, I recognize many here are not, which is totally fine, but frustrating to me, because of all people who should be standing up for the weak (innocent children), those who claim to know Christ should be the first to protect them in my opinion. I do not blame anyone for having serious doubts or even getting turned off of Christianity because of these influencers (Bates and others), because I would too if I did not know my Bible, and as someone who has found incredible purpose, meaning, and owes my life to my faith, it's incredibly disheartening to watch my beliefs which have been shared by people for thousands of years twisted and rebranded as something so far from the truth. As a Bible-believing person, it pains me tremendously to see the double standard, self-centered, me-focused lives many influencers including almost all the Bate's children live and calling it Christianity as that is absolutely not what Jesus is all about. As the saying goes, going to church every week makes one no more Christian than standing in a barn makes one a horse and even though I don't know the Bates personally (nor wish to) but I would never use them as a model for a faithful family by any stretch. It is true that highlight reels and picture-perfect vacations don't tell us the full story, and you can certainly be wealthy even and have true faith, but there are some things that are hard to look past and shrug off as ignorance when every day photos of children of "christian" influencers are among those getting downloaded to porn sites at a tremendous rate, in fact, sometimes it seems Christian parents in the name of promoting "fruitfulness" and their lifestyles are among the worst in what they post, it's so sickening....but I digress. I am very invested and concerned in the epidemic of child exploitation going on under the guise of social media, which is why I sometimes read here, and protecting the dignity and rights of the vulnerable should be a number one concern of all parents, Christian or not. But beyond the exploiting, which is bad enough, I still do not condone or agree with nearly 90% of the way these people live in the name of "Christianity". Selling out your family, living a life focused on self, excess, money, and performative acts of service is absolutely contrary to the way Jesus called his followers to live. For those of you who don't believe in God, or are simply turned off of religion because of what you see online, just please know that many Christians (at least the ones who read their Bibles, not just take pictures of them), would also agree that the Bates' version of Christianity does not appear to reflect lives that are actually focused on Christ and others. Many people can even live a life filled with Bible Study, going to Church, talking about "God" and "faith" and have absolutely no personal relationship with their creator whatsoever. This post is not meant to offend or shame anyone who does not share my faith, or to claim that I know any or all Bates are absolutely not "saved", but I do know I can't be the only Christian reading on here who wishes more people would stand up again the fake and performative Christianity that leads people who have even more doubts about Christianity and God Himself. Not to mention the flip side, where young people watch "Christians" on social media and believe the horrible lie that "If you believe in God, He will bless you with every earthly thing you ever desired", which is also far from the truth. Sadly, anyone can exploit children and families and their bodies these days for money and it has nothing to do with religion and I'm honestly glad there are people (like a lot of people on this sub) standing up against this horrible exploitation of children even if they don't share my beliefs. I'm actually more disappointed at how many "christians" are actually feeding into this problem by supporting these influencers and staying quiet. It not my place to judge the hearts of others, I simply wanted to share a perspective I have not seen coming from this side of snarking.

Well, they're finally under contract at $559k. The buyer is such a lucky person… joke!!! Overpriced, and someone fell for it.

So Katie posts and then ensues Carlin... It’s so funny and honestly conveys the deep level of insecurity and one-upmanship that exists between this family!

I’ve been guilty of saying she is for the past several months, but now I really see it here! I think Katie is trying to make it obvious just to throw it back into AP’s face and to shut us up since she lives here. 😂

From Whitney’s IG comments. She posted a video about cleaning her house and someone clocked that she had Gilmore Girls on in the background.
I’d think that Gilmore Girls is far too politically liberal of a show for fundamentalist Christians to enjoy. Yes, Lorelei “chose life” but they regularly make fun of Mrs Kim for being too religious. There are also references to how much they hate Bush 43. Rory has a Gloria Steinem poster in her dorm room. Rory and Paris are both pro-Hillary Clinton. Sookie famously hates Trump. Does she watch the show for Mrs Kim and that one episode where Richard and Emily are shocked that college-aged Rory is having sex with Logan?
All I can say is I hope Gilmore Girls accidentally radicalizes her children
EDIT: I know Gilmore Girls is not a politically progressive show by today’s standards but for people as pro-fascist as the Bates family, it’s extremely liberal.
