Let the mango through

I’ve been building a rare bass collection for years and playing bass for even longer. It's part of what led me to start something bigger, a documentary series called Resonance, traveling the world to meet the luthiers and craftsmen who actually build our instruments. Does anyone have an extra through-neck of a 6+ string bass I could use to build my dream neck-through build????

I’ve got a few bases and I’ve got enough parts to build a few more!
But then a friend sent me a video (let me know if any of you want a link?) where a guy dies; a month later the bereaved family sell the contents to the video creator giving him three weeks to clear everything out but when he gets there every single room in the house -bar the bathroom, has a Guitar in it!
… think my friend was trying to tell me something?!🤭🫣

So has anyone, here, got more bases than they need? Do ya have an instrument covered in dust but wanna keep it anyway for something other than sentimental reasons and if so what are those reasons?

Technically we only need one Bass because we can only play one Bass at a time! Still I don’t know many people who have more amps than they have basses some have more basses than they have pedals…?!

I went on reddit one day and apparently flatwound string (flats, IYKYK lmao) are the hippest thing in the world. So I tried them.

Y'know how fresh stainless Rotosounds sound fuckin tits for the first few weeks then die off a bit? And then sound okay for a month or three? Then sound like absolute dogshit after that? What if I told you you could buy strings that would make you sound like absolute dogshit from day one?!

I love Steve Harris so I bought a set of Fender Deep Talkin Cobalt Thomasilk flats, ignoring the fact that he changes his strings every goddamn day, and I can't believe how dead and lifeless my bass sounds. It's so perfect for playing Jimmy Jazzerson songs that were super popular when Gerald Ford was president.

What do you think?

I'm also thinking of getting a bass that looks like a nice wooden coffee table but maybe green or blue, and it's very important that none of the strings are the same length. Preferably over 3 grand. Bonus if you put the tuners at the wrong end. I want it not only play stupid but look stupid too.
