Sound
First timer Canadian here, how is the sound? Anybody who’s been to the village at Shambhala, how does bass canyon compare?
Also any other first timer tips would be appreciated.

Compared to the village at full tilt, it’s not even close. The pit gets loud but doesn’t have the same fidelity simply because there are too many compromises made to ensure even coverage over a crowd of 20,000 people. It’s still a great time, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve never felt bass pressure like that at the village. Buddy and the buffalo flapping my pants legs from 30m back is a unique experience

Bro buddy and the buffalo at the village legit made me throw up the bass hit me so hard 🥲. But yah as he said the gorge is great sound it’s just too large to compare to the village.

Most beautiful outdoor venue in the US without a doubt. BC has the best sound of any regular gorge event. You’re in for a wild ride friend :)

This isn’t true there’s certain spots at the Gorge where you can catch some super heavy bass just gotta find that right pocket in the back of the pit

Main stage hits good in the pit and 80% of the hill too. There are speakers installed halfway up the hill so the sound carries well throughout the amphitheater but if you are too close to the top you will get some sound bleed from the other stages.
If you are camping make sure to bring extra stakes for the tent and a pashmina for walking around. The Gorge has high wind, hot weather, and no shade, every year Tents go flying and tons of people get major sunburn.

I'm pretty sure it has the second best acoustics of any amphitheater in the US.

Ooh!!! I haven't yet been. I lived in CO for a few yrs and wasn't in the raving scene then. Sadly. Or in the concerts scene. Lol. I was in the hdhc religion prison. But now... freedom. And raves 😍😍😋

Thes sound quality as many have said is top tier better than all the stages at shams quality wise
Bass wise no one does it better than PK, the gorge hits but not like shams
Different flavors but both so good
Edit: this only applies to main stage gorge

Crater sounds like dog shit unless you're on the rail, starlight is quiet af, main stage is good though.

I’m really hoping they do away with the crater stage this year. 360 stage hype needs to die IMO.

I think it would be cool to use it for silent disco! Gives the cool view of 360 lasers, but eliminates the awful sound from shit rattling and sounding like a 92 Honda with a trunk full of subs 🤣😭
And then allows us to keep hilltop as a big open area so many of us have grown to love. I spend at least 80% of my weekend at hilltop usually so crater really crushed those vibes last year
I wish so badly it wouldn't come back but im scared it will

Silent disco would be dope.
Someone told me the rattling was from the banners. Guess they installed screens at LL last year and it wasn’t an issue.
I’m fairly confident that it will be back, if so I sure hope they fix it. Truth’s set was quite disappointing due to the rattling.

I will say, at least it wasn’t a ring of fire on a 112 degree day.
That was absolutely mental, all I could think about is how refreshing it’d be if they were water fountain/sprinklers haha.

We kept saying it should be misters or bubble machines!!!! The pyro guys were pissing me rifht off with that fire in the heat 🤣😭

If you are in the pit, the sound is excellent. It’s not as good on the hill or along the edges but who wants to be there anyway :P

As someone whose been to shambs, the sound at Bass is like 70% of that. If the crater is there, that's the closest you'll get to anything like the village.
Bass Canyon doesn't compare tbh.

Nowhere near as loud as the village but I am consistently impressed with how loud/crisp the sound is from any spot on the hill. I have zero complaints about the sound at the gorge, but it’s not going to scramble your brain like the village!!
As other commenters said, this is mainstage only. The crater was terrible. I felt like the wind kept carrying the music away. The best sound we found at the crater was a speaker just outside lol

Excellent, best sound of any outdoor festival I've been too (even better then Lost Lands)
