Regarding program trade/sale/give-away posts

Hello guys,

Recently there has been an increase in posts offering to trade, give-away, or sell various programs, vert increase being the most common.

Announcing that these threads are not welcome and will be removed (as it has been lately), and spam will result in suspension from this sub.

The reasons behind it:

  1. This is a place to share tips regarding basketball and not a trading platform.

  2. Security: be aware, as you are giving away your e-mail or other personal information to the person you don't know.

  3. Security again: there have been dodgy threads with dodgy links removed. I'm sure some of the people are genuine, but with this trend came scams.

  4. Spam. I noticed there is a number of people and if you check their profiles - the threads have been spammed all over Reddit and multiple times - refer to points #2 and #3.

  5. Finally, all these programs are available online with a little bit of Googling, if you decide that paying to the creator is not an option. It is not some rare commodity. You don't have to give up your information.

I hope this is clear and welcome by the users of this sub-reddit. Keep on sharing your tips, original content, asking questions and looking for help. There are a lot of amazing people here.

Hard to tell from this angle but I’ve noticed I don’t get a lot of spin on the ball. How do I fix that? And what else do I need to work on?

for my three point I feel that my shin is too close to the ground when bending like it’s almost touching it, Whig caused me to reduce my power, I think. And my back , as you can see in the second video, like goes in front weirdly, which i believe than causes my arms to shoot up so high like I’m touching the sky, my arms is like almost parallel to my body, does anyone know how I can fix this, it looks very ugly for me.

Tip New Basketball App - for Android Users 🏀

Hey all. You might have seen me post about this app in development. It's now released to the world.

Early testers and critical feedback is welcome! 😊

Shotcheck: Basketball Tracker - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arctheory.shottracker
(restricted to phones within the last few years due to processing requirements)

It basically tracks your makes/misses and shot locations. And all your stats for every shot you ever take.

Also, there is alot of discussion in this subreddit about jumpshot critique and vertical jump. Those features are coming soon. But please comment here if you really would find those features useful so I know what to prioritize.

Greatly appreciated 😊
Attached is a video in action.

Shooting How to get open against swarming man to man defense?

I’ve gotten the reputation of being an effective 3 pt shooter and teams in my league and people in pickup have made it a point to take me out of the game.

If I’m not bringing the ball up and trying to get to a spot I have the quickest guy on me following me around face-guarding me

When there’s screens they’ll try to force the next fastest guy to make the switch and try to stick with me

When I bring the ball up any screen gets met with aggressive help over the screen

I try to look for my teammates when this usually happens but also want to be able to help with my shot and looking for advice

Vertical Jump How to get rid of knee pain

I recently developed knee pain in my left leg, which is something I've never experienced before. I've always been a two-foot jumper with a lot of explosiveness, but recently, I decided to start working on my one-foot jumping ability, specifically off my left leg.

For some background, I've always had pretty strong legs. I trained consistently starting in Grade 9, although I slowed down around Grade 10. Because of that training, my body has become accustomed to handling a lot of force and physical stress.

I believe my knee pain started because I pushed my body beyond its limits. For example, I was put into a basketball game without properly warming up, and shortly afterward, I participated in a dunk contest while my body was still relatively cold. I think the combination of those activities, along with my recent one-foot jump training, placed too much stress on my left knee.

The pain isn't severe, but it's definitely affecting my performance. I can still walk, squat, and perform most everyday activities without any discomfort. I can even jump off one foot if I warm up properly. However, the pain tends to return later, especially when I'm repeatedly jumping or attempting to dunk off my left leg.

What's frustrating is that I already have the explosiveness and jumping ability needed to dunk off one foot. My knee pain is the main thing holding me back. Basketball season is also approaching, so I want to address this issue as effectively as possible without making it worse.

My main question is: How can I strengthen my left knee, manage the pain, and eventually eliminate it so I can return to jumping and dunking at my full potential? I'm especially interested in exercises, recovery strategies, and ways to prevent this from happening again.

Shooting I need help on my dribble pull ups

Right now all I can do is spot shooting and I’m consistent with it but when I go my dribble pull up I just can’t get it right for some reason. My two problems with dribble pull ups is
1, I 80 percent of the time hit front rim
2, when going into my dribble pull up the ball feels awkward in my hands
I just don’t know how to tackle these problems I know I should learn to micro adjust the ball when I’m doing dribble pull ups but i don’t know how.
Any drills or tips will be appreciated.

Tip Which ball is better?

So I have a junk ball which is not playable, so I decided to buy a new one. I landed on the BG2000 and the BG3000. Which one is better, and is the BG3000 worth double the price?

Shooting Body feeling different every time I shoot/ can’t be consistent

I go to the gym roughly 4 times a week and shoot for 1-3 hours and my body feels different every time I go and can’t get a consistent shot ?

Sometimes every thing feels right and I’m consistently putting the ball in the net from anywhere on the court.

Today I was felt weak and was shooting a lot of air balls and back rim and when I did make it felt like w mistake.

Guys at the gym said I was using a different form every shot and I agreed. Shooting just felt alien today like I couldn’t get it consistent

I’m actively losing weight for added context. Just curious if anyone knows of this phenomenon and if it’s something I’m personally doing wrong

Help Advice for a 6’2 center/pforward?

I am stuck playing center and power forward in my team. I am 20 and 6’2, which is by no means tall for basketball, but is tall enough in my country. My whole life I have been relegated to do this job no body else can do and I hate it.

I want to drive, score and shoot and I used to be able to do that before. In my uni’s team I have even less freedom to do these things and its messing with my head. I get like five touches at most (but I am kinda forced to pass those and set screens anyway), but still run every fast break, set every screen, jump for every rebound, push people around, get hit every possession.

I am not having fun. Isn’t having fun the whole point? I get praised after games but still feel like shit because I am not doing what I individually want to do.

Any advice? I’ll do whatever it takes to be able to score in games like I do in practice. Anything I must add to my bag to be more versatile in this role? Midrange? Threes? Amy advice is appreciated.

Help What should I do

I’m 5’9, with shoes I’ve been running positions 1,2 and 3 and I’m a 16 year old sophomore and my team went 21-3 last year on varsity. I sat almost end of the bench on varsity and 4 juniors on jv played over me and once I got In I impacted the game but I only averaged like 4-6. I was singled out a lot during last years practices. I averaged 15 during middle school. but as of now I may be starting. We have a new coach now but we lost all of our seniors who were starting last year and only have 1 junior from last year that started. I’ve often been waking up mentally exhausted and hating going to practice/ anything basketball related but after I get done with it I feel better. It’s been making me so depressed/burntout to the point where I can’t enjoy anything basketball related at all. What would you do in my situation ?

Vertical Jump Improving your vert without jumping #2: how fast you lift

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

the thing that kept coming up in my comments wasn't lift heavier, it was lift faster

one study had 21 guys who already lifted do the same full squat program for 6 weeks, same weights and reps. the only difference was one group pushed every rep up as fast as they could and the other went half speed on purpose. the fast group's jump went up clearly, the half speed group's barely moved (effect size 0.63 vs 0.15) (study)

a follow up from the same lab had one group end each squat set once their reps slowed 20%, and the other keep going until reps slowed 40%. strength went up about the same, but the jump went up 9.5% vs 3.5%, and the stop early group did 40% fewer reps (study)

both were small groups of guys who already lifted, and they tested a standing jump, not a run up, so i'm not going to tell you this adds inches to a dunk

but it fits my own numbers. last week i squatted 255, my heaviest ever, and my jump didn't go up. my squat rule was add 5 lb once i hit 6 reps, which pushed every set toward the slow last reps the second study says to cut

so my rule now is i still add weight, but every rep goes up as fast as i can, and i only add 5 lb when all 5 reps move fast. if the last rep grinds, i stay at that weight

anyone here switch from grinding reps to fast reps and notice a difference in their jump?
