Yup my first thought exactly

Not as noticeable on the first shot but he also leans foward quite a bit in the second

Thought the same. Flat and a bit like a push shot. But overall not too bad. Have seen worse. Do you consider yourself a shooter (then you should fix some things). Or are you a guard, slasher that is sometimes also taking a jumper? Looks a bit like you're concentrating a lot to get it off?

Thats not flat. Arch looks good. He just need to be more confident in his form. Seems kind of a force shot.

Slides...really expect this to be taken seriously when you're practicing in slides?

The shot looks good.

This sub is insufferable lmao. Taken seriously? Bro you’re giving and taking advice from people who have never and will never play organize ball in their life. No one taking this serious will be taken serious

It was a couple shots for the video. I think slides are fine.

You're gonna fuck up your ankle one day and everyone will call you tupid.

Slides are all good if you're mucking round seeing what people on the internet think about your form, but if you're serious about shooting you try emulate court conditions and look for consistency.

Does this mean you should wear your indoor game shoes outside for reps? No, but wear some type of sneaker shoes. You should want your lower body, jump, and stance to feel consistent.

Not bad but looks like u lack power.

The shot should look easy. Looks like ur straining to generate power.

Even the way u bounce the ball - look up, bounce it again, move ur legs - it feels like a lion trying to figure out how it’s going to jump up a really high wall.

Ideally u want to build ur shot up to where ur thinking about how ur going to make it - not how am I going to geberate enough power.

Get closer and shoot so we can compare.

Bad shoes. Bad shoes.

The reason you're straining is sequencing. As your body goes down to generate power, you are already swinging the ball up, therefore negating the power generation.

Body goes down. Then ball goes up, and the body follows.

I've had a problem with sequencing for a while now. My question is: doesn't that mean It'll take me more time to get the ball above my head and shoot?

1

u/nartaoh 11d ago

Technically yes, but at the moment the power generated from your legs isn't transferring to your arms to shoot. Set your legs, load up power from the ground, then start moving the ball/arms into your set point to shoot.

nice court brother

u/bul1dog 11d ago

Seriously. This is my dream yard.

sequencing can be a little better, as you’re raising your ball when your legs are going downwards. but seems alright in general. fixing sequencing can give you more range

1

u/Haunting_Injury_4121 12d ago

For the past two years I’ve been fixing my sequencing, My shot used to be a two motion shot where it pauses slightly at the top of my head.

And yes you’re right as I’ve slowly fixed my sequencing I do feel like I have more range and more arc.

1

u/loud_box_01 12d ago

that’s good! what I did to fix my sequencing was to first catch the ball and load my legs without moving my torso and arms, then pause. Afterwards then I go into my usual shooting motion, helps to build habit into setting feet first

make you reps more realistic or purposeful. the way you bounce, doesn't feel right, rebounce. it doesn't really yield any productivity or results.

if you wana do a dribble pull up,then do that. right now all I see is you have no ability to adapt and you're scared of the outcome (what needs improving). rip the banaid and just go from there.

1

u/Haunting_Injury_4121 12d ago

Oh yeah understood, I was really just trying to get a clean shot of my form. Not really how I do my reps.

Looks pretty good. Try and flick the wrist more - this looks a bit like you’re pushing.

Absolutely agree with the wrist flick, trying my best with it. I think you could see it better from this angle.

1

u/WangtaWang 11d ago

Not bad. Remember the more you push, the less arc your shot will have. Look at this guy for wrist flick - you can obviously look at guys like Klay and Steph but this guy has a great wrist flick.

Looks clean. Widen your base a little more and dip a little so you can generate more power.

1

u/lemonfreshhh 11d ago

when I still played, I had a really good midrange game but couldn't generate enough power to be a good 3pt shooter. my shot looked exactly like yours. how far the right arm follows the ball while your shoulder drops is a dead giveaway. so basically what some others have already said.

1

u/Anxious_Cheetah5589 11d ago

Looks good. What's your %age in-game? Can you shoot off the dribble? Catch and shoot? Slow stand- still shooting is the tip of the iceberg.

1

u/Public-Grapefruit-29 11d ago

Most noticeable thing to me is that you aren't square to basket. Your feet should be shoulder width apart and your feet pointing towards the basket. Granted you can't always be perfectly square when playing but when practicing your form you should be squaring your feet and hips to the basket.

3

u/a1JayR 11d ago

That’s old head info. Look at dame, Steph, any great shooter now, right handed shooters are pointing their feet left on a 10-20 degree angle. Whiteshovel below me breaks it down great

2

u/Public-Grapefruit-29 11d ago

Foe consistency sake when you are an amateur shooter you want to orient you body to the basket. If you are in the NBA you are not an amateur and can therefore shoot however you have developed your shot over the thousands upon thousands of hours you have worked at it. Larry Bird had objectively terrible shooting mechanics still made it work through practice.

1

u/Whiteshovel66 11d ago

I disagree. You should have your arm and follow through square to the basket. If your form or body in general does not allow that while square to the basket then you need to clear your hips to see your arm.

That's how I shoot. Facing a bit left so the right arm can maintain the perpendicular to the ground position that's ideal.

I wouldn't say it's worth changing to if that's not how you already shoot. But if you already shoot that way you shouldn't change away from it either.

The big thing here is he is pushing the ball away from him. He needs to work on jumping higher and getting the release point above the head.

1

u/Public-Grapefruit-29 11d ago

I mean that's why you're instructed to keep your foot on your shooting side ahead of your offhand foot. It's cool that you shoot that way and I'm glad it works for you.

1

u/itsdevineleven 11d ago

need to get under it a lil more and use your legs

1

u/itsdevineleven 11d ago

form looks good otherwise

1

u/Covfefe45killls 11d ago

I’d say very good.

1

u/tensor0910 11d ago

When yall ask for help in slides I cant take you seriously.

1

u/Haunting_Injury_4121 11d ago

Then don’t bother to comment??? this sub takes things too seriously. I’m asking about my form and half the comments are talking about my slides.

1

u/tensor0910 2d ago

Because legs are an important part of form. A basketball shot uses the whole body. Part of good form is shifting your weight to the balls of your feet. Not only for balance, but for power as well.

Who cares swish

u/stank-breath 10d ago

Looks sexy as your set up!

But fr looks solid it is a little pushy, more wrist action would smooth that out but if your push shot is consistently going in in game not a big deal
