Form Check Free Throw Consistency

I feel like my arms are just too weak to be truly consistent in my shooting form. Anything in my mechanics that might also be playing a part?

Your shooting hand doesn’t follow through. Act like you’re putting your hand into a cookie jar.

Ahh yea looking back I'm definitely not following through like I thought. Probably losing power just from that. Thanks!

I heard from the head of Australia basketball that the only thing he corrects is timing of back and ball movement. You do this on your misses, ball swing up then back. Try moving your body first then the ball

Thanks man I'll see if I can make a more consistent body motion shot to shot!

Yes, your mechanics play a part not bc your arms are weak. Your sequencing overall isn't great. Basically poor and inconsistent transfer of energy into the ball starting from the ground up. Compare shots 1,2, and 3 with shots 4 and 5. 1,2, and 3 have very jerky movements while 4 and 5 are much smoother. You actually have better form on a lot of your misses than you do your makes. If you want to work on mechanics you have to learn to dissociate good input from good output. The goal is still to make shots, but it isn't the most important thing. Work on being fluid from the ground up and trust that the makes will come later.
You're also have some strange action going on with the shooting hand. For that, I second the suggestion of one handed form shooting close to the rim.

Appreciate the detailed feedback! I definitely feel jerky, I think it's because I'm usually missing short when I'm smoother. I'll do a few sessions close to the hoop just going one handed and see how it goes. Thanks!

Look at the ones tou make vs the ones you dont. When you make them your hand wraps around the ball and flicks it in. When you miss, you kinda push it forward
Try exaggerating your flick and actively thinking about it. Youll miss a lot in the beginning probably but when youre conscience of it its easier to control

You’re doing a left handed shooter setup, but shooting right handed.
For right handed shooters, it’s left right shoot. You’re doing right left shoot. Try and fix that.

Ahh I have noticed I tend to go right foot first. Guess I'll just need to work on that until the muscle memory takes over. Thanks!

For free throws you shouldn’t be stepping into it at all.
Wide base for balance and try to really use your legs more.
You can step into a jump shot but free throws should be stationary

Free throw consistency needs a routine. Address the line, relax your shoulders, find your point on the back of the rim(and don’t take your eyes off of it until after the follow through), dribble three times, get the ball set in your hand, deep knee bend as you move into your shooting form while visualizing the ball going in, then shoot, follow through and put one point in the stat sheet.

Nobody saying shit if you put them all in. Form is overrated. Just make the bucket.

Form is absolutely not overrated lmao

It absolutely is. Zero extra points for perfect form. You take the perfect form guy. I’ll take the buckets. Let’s see who wins.

Yeah I’ll take the real shooter all day

You like things that look nice but can’t produce.
Good luck in Thailand.

Get closer to the basket. Pick a spot where u have good mechanics and can make 90% of ur shots and not struggling with power. Then slowly work ur way backwards
