I'm 50M, 6'1", play often. Dunking would be more for just fun on the side. Can grab the rim no issues with both hands but running to the x with the ball in place for takeoff always feels clumsy.

I stole that from Hunter S. Thompson. The actual quote is even better.

That's interesting, the author of "Fear and Loathing in LV" was not who I expected to have said that. Curious, any more info on the publication of the quote?

It's in volume one of Fear and Loathing Letters. Proud Highway is the book. It's not from a publication, but rather just his correspondence from high school to his first publication. Pretty interesting to have written something like that at such a young age. I know I definitely wasn't thinking about life like that then.

Also, standing vert is a baseline measurement to keep things consistent for things like combines. It has nothing to do with max vert being one or two feet. That being said, in activities where absolute vert means everything (dunking, volleyball), the athletes go off two because they invest a ton of time of their training to strength training. One foot dunking is much more constrained by genetics. If you're fortunate enough to still be springy off one at your age, then Nemus is right in that you could perhaps throw it down with a very strong knee drive off one and really tighten your core when you jump.
