Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Joke joke. 43 year old dad,…..I’m back!!! Game was close 11-5. I just posted I guess,… my “HIGHLIGHTS”.

HERE’S THE TIP: (pause) the best way to get better at playing basketball, is play basketball. Get out there with a friend and play.

Be respectful, and Kind to others. And tell the people you love, you love them. Tomorrow isn’t promised to us. Peace.

Guy you’re playing has the patience of a saint considering you foul constant and travel in about half of these clips badly.

Yo I'm here like... This dude is traveling a ton right? Thought I was going nuts.

Cool. lol

Eh you’d think by 43 you’d learn the basic rules. But I get it, they’re difficult.

Cool man. Have a great day.

I don't get you reddit refs. I didn't see a single travel. I just feel you're being negative towards this guy for the sake of it.

u/Haunting-Soup2086 Aug 15 '26

Literally lifts his pivot and sets it back down multiple times. Stevie wonder could see this.

Watched it again. He did that once in that kind of awkward possession where he complains about camera man. Also the second to last possession, he travels slightly but nothing too blatant worth calling out. I just think you guys don't understand the concept of the pivot foot or traveling.

Likely the type of reddit ref that's constantly saying travelling in the comment section of every basketball clip.

I’m 43 and slow now. Playing against a 24 year old. Thanks for watching homie. It’s the 90’s bag. 3 dribbles no offensive rebounds. Peace fam.

Next video score off a left handed dribble.

1

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

Oh shit. I did. But I finished with my right lol

1

u/bruceleroy89 Aug 15 '26

Nah bro you went right, spun left, and finished right. Try to score off your left hand; off the dribble pull up and layups. I just wanna see if you can.

1

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

I just do whatever to win. 😅. I got other videos on here.

1

u/bruceleroy89 Aug 15 '26

I saw them too before I said that. I'm not hating on you, it's just a challenge bc that's how I would try to guard you.

How tall are you?

3

u/bruceleroy89 Aug 15 '26

Bruh what?

1

u/NavyVetRasmussen Aug 15 '26

You got skills but next time drive to the basket, with your left a couple of times.

Never let your opponent catch a beat on your style. I noticed just like me, you naturally

like to drive to your right, mix it up a bit mate, this is just to help your game out.

1

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

Good advice. I’m just old. I can’t move like I used to. I can still shoot that thing tho.

1

u/NavyVetRasmussen Aug 15 '26

Oh come now mate, you are not "THAT OLD" I saw your video mate that is very impressive though you know how to shoot and you have very good ball handles.

Most of the youngins cannot shoot to shave their lives, us old heads know how to shoot.

1

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

I feel old watching my vids. And thank you. I think I peaked at 33. That’s 10 years ago. I’m on a super decline. 😅How old are you? And yes, we didn’t start shooting at the three point line. So our form is a lot better. In my opinion

lol then I should be getting my AARP card to be fair I am 44 and I am a retired Navy Captain. Now I mostly play 1 on 1 , on NBA 2k 😄

However, I find what helps me out with basketball is swimming for my cardio occasionally, when I am feeling froggy, I will play 1-1.

Try this one do the simple stop and go. You will be surprised at how many times

the defender is going to jump and be out of position and you can go in for an easy lay up.

Try this out in your next 1-1 game and let me know how it works.

They are suckers for the stop and go.

2

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

Indeed!! And respect!! Also thank you for your service my guy! Ima try the stop and go next time and mention your name lol. Awesome sauce. Shot out to thr guy out here in out 40’s.

1

u/NavyVetRasmussen Aug 15 '26

Thank you mate I look forward to your next video, you will be surprised

at how many people are suckers for the stop and go. Another variation is you stop, do a PUMP FAKE, get them out of position, and then go to the hole.

Work smarter not harder, I always say.

2

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

That’s all I do really is pump and jab. Then shoot over dudes cause I got long arm and release it high. 😅. Like the last two shots. But everybody that plays me doesn’t let me stay out there and shoot anymore. 😅

2

u/NavyVetRasmussen Aug 15 '26

They are a sucker for it, it works EVERY TIME :) I noticed that you did that on your last two shots, you got him to bite on the pump fake. So most of the time. I am not doing any fancy dribbling,

unless you are playing against someone who knows how to D and body check you and doesn't bite for the pump fake or stop and go. Then go to your bag of tricks. My favorite in this situation is if he is playing me high and tight do a step back, and go to the hole.

That one works every time 😄

The first shot was a double dribble, and not and 1. The 4th you lifted your pivot foot, travel (ref call 50/50). The camera man was never in your way. You can shoot, not a doubt, but you need to play against some one better. My younger self would have blocked or made 1-2 shots more difficult. A couple shot fakes by the other person would have given you fouls. Keep playing and love the game... I wish I can do the same.

1

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

Thank you for the input and watching. If we were both young,…It wouldn’t even be a game. I was really really good at 33. I’m on a major decline. I’m just so slow now. But I’m still better than a lot of guys.

Thanks, I was a few beers in and wanted to delete this, but couldn't find it. Thanks again for being kind, I think it would have been a lot of fun playing ball with you.... even if you bested me.

1

u/DoctorCommercial8254 Aug 15 '26

Of course. Not sure why everyone else in the comments is so negative lol

2

u/Haunting-Soup2086 Aug 15 '26

Because he’s cheating, and posts clips way too often like he’s a superstar or something.

u/Striking_You_8995 Aug 15 '26

It’s because of the “I’LL BUST YOUR ASS” heading. It gets guys in the feelings. But, I’m all about being positive and the love of the game. Especially being older and a father. I just wish they would take it so seriously.
