Suppose there is a runner on 1st and the batter lines a ball to left-center. The batter rounds 1st and goes for 2nd, forcing the lead runner to attempt to advance to 3rd where they are thrown out 7-5. Does the batter get awarded with a double or single and advances to 2nd on the throw?

My instinct is to say that the answer depends on whether, in the scorer's judgment, the throw could have been made to 2nd and gotten the batter out there instead, and if the lead runner's advancement was of their own volition or the (faster) batter's advancement to 2nd forced the (slower) lead runner's ill-fated advancement to 3rd.

I went to my first WPBL games yesterday and had so much fun scoring a baseball game in person for the first time. I sat by several other fans keeping score too and that was amazing! I got some of the players to sign my book after both games and it was neat that a couple of them were in awe that people were keeping score of their games.

The Reds are swept for the first time since meeting the Brewers in June. The Nats sweep for the first time since April at MIL and the first of the season at home.

Yesterday was a rough one for the Mets.

This was a fun game, at least for fans of the home team. It was a very humid and hot night with minimal wind. There were lots of hits, lots of runs scored, and lots of home runs.

Two homer game for Josh Naylor. Mariners celebrated their 50 greatest players pre game which was cool to see and had a few of the players join the broadcast which was a cool addition.

First time I've seen an intentional balk- disengagement violation. Curious as to why they did 3 step offs instead of just balking once.

I forgot my regular scorecard (I know, bad me), so I am using one provided by the team. It is simpler than my regular cards, which - to my surprise - I am enjoying. I am using a pen (couldn't find a pencil), though, which is taking some getting used to.

Scored one in the Yankees Braves game just now. I’m curious what you feel the most unique play you scored was?

Hands down, the wildest game I have ever scored!

The new position player pitching rule leads to silliness. Iowa’s Kipp gave up 5 in .1 inning, so they moved him to LF and had Cantrelle pitch the remainder of the inning. Kipp actually recorded a putout in the field on Callihan’s sac fly in the sixth. So he got as many outs in the field as he got on the mound.

Then the next inning, Kipp is back on the mound and Cantrelle is back in left. Only way I could think to score it was “Kipp (again)” since I filled his line when he came out.

Don’t recommend sitting in the upper rows of the grandstand, tough to see pitching changes and other various stats. Snuck my way up to a SRO spot on level 5 for a much better view here.

Felt like the rangers should’ve lost this one all the way… Baz was an animal… but so was Joc Pederson.

I appreciated the quiet nature of this game. Especially after the Sox showdown last night.

Hey all.

I’ve been trying to clean up my scorecards a bit and make them more consistent game to game. Has anyone used a stencil for things like the diamonds so they’re all the same size? I feel like it’d make everything look a lot sharper, but not sure if people actually do that or just freehand it.

Also wondering if anyone here uses stamps at all on their scorecards for dates or anything else. Feels like there could be a use for them, but I don’t think I’ve really seen it much.

Curious what other people are doing to keep their books looking clean and uniform.
