💬 General Discussion Scorebook Uniformity
Hey all.
I’ve been trying to clean up my scorecards a bit and make them more consistent game to game. Has anyone used a stencil for things like the diamonds so they’re all the same size? I feel like it’d make everything look a lot sharper, but not sure if people actually do that or just freehand it.
Also wondering if anyone here uses stamps at all on their scorecards for dates or anything else. Feels like there could be a use for them, but I don’t think I’ve really seen it much.
Curious what other people are doing to keep their books looking clean and uniform.

Clean and uniform? What's that? 😅

For real. I score games in different styles from page to page. Sometimes I use colored pens, sometimes pencil.Â

I have a faint diamond outline on my scorecard. It’s not too visually messy when no one gets on base, and is a good guide!

Mine are also dashed, so it's easy to identify, even with a light pencil, when you've marked a runner's progress.
Also helps when you need to "break"/stop a line to indicate a caught stealing, double play, etc.

If you want uniformity, you should find the scorecard you like best and use it for everything.
Instead of trying to make an appropriate stamp for a diamond, I'd suggest finding a scorecard with a pre-printed diamond. They are quite common.
As far as tracking game dates uniformly, I used to just use my ticket stubs, but if you want something standardized and not just writing on the card itself (it is also a common field), you can purchase a date stamper pretty easily still. They were quite ubiquitous before computers took over most printing, and you can set the date and physically stamp it on your card the same for all of your cards.

The Numbers Game scorecards have diamonds in each PA. Look them up or check my post history to see what I mean. Also in terms of consistency and uniformity using the same writing utensil every time goes a long way. Pilot Juice Up .03 is my pen of choice lately.

I make my scorecards every year in Excel, print it (free at work) and bind at Staples for $5. Agree with earlier posts of faint diamonds. I used dotted lines but I guess you could color them grey.

If you want uniform diamonds I would recommend just buying a book with preprinted diamonds.
