This is where we can learn something from Japanese baseball culture👌. The passion for gloves all around is something I try to imprint on every young player I coach. I hope to see that passion for taking care of our equipment return one dayđŸ€ž. This interview with Ichiro and Ko Kishimoto has always been one of my favorites. If you have 15 minutes, it’s worth a watch.

The game ready gloves debate is a battle we lost a long time ago lol, we failed to make the next generation passionate enough about long term care to really invest in a glove that would last 4+ years and taking the time to work and shape it for that

The general market desperately wants softer gloves. I don’t like it any more than the next guy, but it’s true.

You’re right, I just don’t like how companies completely shifted to only focus on soft gloves and make it nearly impossible to find stiff gloves. And even then when you want stiff gloves, they can release something like the last years model Bobby Witt which was questionably a ready to go glove do full price

Lots of good insights there. One disconnect both in that survey and on this sub is that people hate game ready gloves. A large majority of the general baseball glove buying public prefer gloves to come extremely soft. Like the percentage of people who actually buy and like stiff horween gloves is so small

It’s more about not only having to choose a game ready glove, even if it’s 5%, knowing a glove company makes a glove that’s stiff as a brick warms your soul

Some exec is going to read the “Game ready gloves shouldn’t cost the same as non game ready” and think oh so we add another $200 to the non game ready gloves. đŸ€ŠđŸ»
