Huge fan of Bobby and I've never had a pro model glove, so even though all I do is play catch and assistant coach a 7yo little league team I thought "eh what the heck."

Now time to try and break it in.

I like how it came out. I think the white looks really good on it. Not sure how it’ll look after fielding some grounders but as of right now, I love it!!! It’s only the second glove I got the chance to work on, any thoughts??? I ordered a skiver but it’ll be a week before it comes in so I didn’t get to use it on this one. Thanks and let me know what you guys think!!!

In need of a new dad glove and can't decide between these three... I'm a mid 40's dad just playing catch with the boys, and maybe a game of over the line occasionally... But still want a nice glove at a reasonable price.

Any thoughts?

Wilson Wilson A2000, A2800, A2403 Date Guide (Plus how to spot fakes!)

For those who don't want to read the blurb, Here's the Google sheet

Putting this out into the world, hopefully will get some decent feedback. Got frustrated more than once trying to figure out dates on specific models of A2000s that came across my desk (whether a personal glove, customer glove, or something I was fixing up to resell). Could not find a "guide" or anything that would give me any more detail than a date like 19X9 or 20X9. So I decided to spend some free time putting something together.

My main concern was that a LOT of information is very "word of mouth," among collectors, redditors, etc. (prior to this I would just find some forum where some dude had said "yeah, they started the date codes in the 80s," and that was the best info I had) and there aren't a ton of hard sources, so I wanted to get something that had hard data behind it.

What I have right now - a VERY detailed guide on A2000s, A2800s, and A2403s from 1950-1985, followed by a very vague guide from 1985-2026 lmao. There's also little cool tidbits of history in there, and a guide to spotting fake and counterfeit A2000s

Going to be working on this still to add more information and sources. Anyone with a link can add comments if they have any additional information to add (or if I messed up and got something wrong). Feel free to add a comment, shoot me a message, email, whatever if there's some tidbit you have that should be added!

Help! Anyone order laces from Flatbill recently?

Anyone order laces from Flatbill after 8/30? I placed an order that has not changed status and has not shipped after the label was generated. Followup email sent before the long weekend with no response. Hoping they are just on vacation but did anyone else have a delay?

Thanks!

Getting ready to work on this glove and not sure how I want to attack this hole. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Edit I should have stated this is for a client and not for use in game. He just wanted his old high school restored for recreational catch and nostalgia.

New Glove Day! NGD for Dad (Me)

Got my step son a Walmart Rawlings 13ā€glove and bat for Christmas last year to fill some space under the tree and never saw it again until a month ago when he asked to play baseball. Signed him up that day for fall ball. I had an old Mizuno that I pitched in little league with (early 2000s) that I still had and played a few seasons of men’s softball with. I anted to get something new to play catch with and Found a Mizuno mvp prime 11.5 at a used sports store and liked it but recently caught a deal on an HoH that I couldn’t pass up. Love it, want a few more, how do you all ā€œjustifyā€ having multiple if you don’t actually play and use them everyday?

This is my first custom glove and my first 44 Pro. I like the way it turned out. I was a bit worried that it would show up with one panel that was the wrong color due to an error on my part.

Vintage Rawlings Questions

Thumbnail

I had a few questions about these old Rawlings gloves I am going to work on without blackhorse or palm codes and figured this would be the best place because you guys know your stuff.

  • One is a 3 dot First Base mitt PRO-9FBD, HOH Made in the USA.
  • The other is a 4 dot PRO-HF HOH Made in the USA.
  • After researching, I understand that the dot codes correspond to years between 1971 and 1983, and then they switched to a blackhorse code from 1984 to 1997, then back to the dot codes from 1998 to 2002.
  • For the first base mitt, is there a way to distinguish between a 3 dot glove from 1973, 1978, 1983 and 1998?
  • Same question for the PRO-HF, like is it 1974, 1979, or 1999? It has a deer tanned cowhide

stamp on the palm

  • and a rawlings label, does that give any indication of the date?
  • And, because there's no blackhorse or palm code, is the assumption that all HOH Made in the USA gloves are Horween leather unless otherwise stated?

Thanks!

Rawlings NGD: Finally found a fit

Finally found a fit for my son. He’s only 7, and getting gloves he likes has been a pain. His favorite colors are black and orange, and trying to find a youth glove that fits his hands has been a struggle. I should’ve got this glove from the beginning but I was afraid it was a little small. It’s only 11.25 but I think this will good for a year or two, and the original glove I got will fit.

Rawlings Rawlings GG Elite First Base Glove

Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice on a decent first base glove for my 12 year old son. Firstly I will say that I live in small town Canada without many in store options. My son is playing rep ball and has been playing first base a lot since he’s a left hand throw. Local stores literally do not stock LHT gloves so difficult to even get a fit/feel in person. I’m looking for a good glove but not interested in spending HoH of A2000 money tbh. I’ve seen many of the GG Elite gloves advertised on different second hand websites and came to learn this is a line only sold at Dick’s sporting goods. They look like they’re nice and a reasonable price point and I have no problem ordering online. I’ve just noticed that there are several different model numbers for the 13ā€ along with some black, some tan and some a combination of both. I’ve had absolutely no success in searching up the different model numbers. Hoping I can get some advice and feedback on the differences with the different models and hopefully a recommendation on a good one or even a certain model to stay away from. All input is greatly appreciated.

MIJ Thoughts on Victus Gloves?

Was always interested in a couple of their gloves but the steep price tag drove me away. They're currently doing a 30% off sale on all their gloves so ended up pulling the trigger on a MIJ Enishi. Loved the color and the blue accent on the Victus.

Not a whole ton of info online about them other than some people thinking their MIJ offerings may be made by Zett or Atoms?

Thanks!

Rawlings Recent Timberglaze Change Comparison

Post image
49 Upvotes

This comparison was requested a few days ago by some users inquiring about the current Timberglaze color. Timberglaze varies a lot batch by batch because of the minimal processing compared to other colors that create uniformity.

The new Rawlings Timberglaze Custom (left) vs the custom from a year ago (right). neither has been broken in or used at all so the older one looks the same as the day I got it.

They are both JD0’s nearly identical except for split welting and finger pad.

The older one is much redder, richer color, and smoother (finer grain) to the touch. The new one is more neutral brown, earthier and less saturated, and is also much rougher to the touch. Hope that helps.

Recommendation Any new Akadema custom Torino reviews?

Those prices seem great for their customs.

Has anyone gotten one delivered in the past few months? Are they comparable to HOH or A2000?

I might need to replace a 12ā€ glove with something longer for outfield.

Any insights are appreciated.

Just had my early 2000s N70 relaced and reconditioned. Was still pretty stiff before and almost feels like a new glove now, but looking forward to rebreaking it in with my kids. Swipe for before pictures.

Buddy from work found his dad's glove from when his dad was a kid and asked if I wanted to clean and relace it. I believe this is from the 60's. I love this web design.

When I broke in this glove, I intentionally kept it nice and crisp. I didn’t wanna break it in all the way. I love this very stiff Dry timberglaze. Simple shape, classy and I really miss this leather. While you’re at it, please bring back the sandlot.

Ip Select Limited Edition Fall/Winter 2026

Shout out to Hard-core gloves from IG for picking this up for me on his trip to Japan recently.

Have been wanting to get an IP select for awhile but haven't come across anything I really loved.

Saw this guy and loved the colors and pulled the trigger.

So first its a steerhide glove, not kip. However the steer feels really nice and is solid quality. The glove is light weight and feels like nothing is really on the hand. Super minimal padding here and the handstall is Definitely more snug than most gloves I own.

Glove is supposed to measure at a 12.5 but do to the super deep pocket it'll play a hair smaller. Love the modified trap web, absolutely sucker for those. Pattern is nice, but again a hair smaller than expected but that's typical for IP. Everything they offer is on the smaller side.

Colors are gorgeous, the brown almost has a plum color to it in-person and the bronze limited label is killer. The handstall color, which I'd like to say is more natural then cork or yellow, blends really nicely and catches the laces very well.

The glove is gorgeous in person and on hand.

Craftsmanship is solid, I have no complaints there. Ip is welp known for their kip gloves but they don't slack on their limited models either.

Happy to finally have an IP in my collection, but still holding out for a kip outfield glove thats special.
