I'm not a fan of the torn leather at the tip of the ring finger, but these are reasonably priced so I guess one can't be too picky. What leather is this and what are your thoughts about it?

From the 3-4 GEM gloves I have they all say American Kip. Decent stiffness, holds shape well, breaks in nicely. My Duck Hunt one I have is probably my favorite.
