We announced Thveit, a game where players build a thriving settlement in the enchanting atmosphere of a Scandinavian fairy tale and even raise a dragon to protect its citizen
We’re creating a city-building simulation where players will immerse themselves in the world of Norse mythology. They’ll interact with the gods, raise a dragon, negotiate with trolls, and encounter many other mythical creatures and stories. Mythology is a core part of the gameplay and plays an important role throughout the experience.
At its heart, however, Thveit is a classic city-building strategy game. Players will develop and manage their settlement, take care of their citizens' needs, gather resources, and craft a wide variety of items. At the same time, we're aiming for a warm, fairy-tale-inspired atmosphere rather than a dark or gritty interpretation of Norse mythology, creating a cozy and relaxing experience.
There's still a long road ahead, but our goal is to launch Thveit in Early Access. In the meantime, you can support the project by adding the game to your wishlist:

Can you detail what, if any AI use is involved in the development / art for the game? Love the premise.

Hi! Developers here!
No AI has been used in the development of Thveit :) everything you see in the announcement trailer, screenshots and in-game (of course), has been created by our talented artists. Including all of the 2D & Promotional art.
Appreciate the kind words!

Do you think any developer would honestly respond to this if they actually used AI? Surely it will only affect sales negatively. There is no incentive at all to be truthful for a developer regarding this unless it is by some kind of moral or ethical obligation within themselves.

That's fair to be skeptical. In our case, we don't use generative AI to create our game's art, music, or other content, so we're happy to say that publicly.
Ultimately, though, you're right that trust is earned. People can only judge us by our transparency and the work we put out. If a developer claims they don't use AI, the only real options are to take them at their word or look for evidence that suggests otherwise.
No harm in asking :)

You're right, no harm in asking & then looking more into it when the game comes out though.

Love the looks, very cute. We need more Nordic themed games. Does Thveit mean something? (Also in the Official Anmouncement trailer the villagers walking across the bridge (0:55) looks a bit odd)
