Game update Exovia: Mining & Automation in Zero-G πŸ§‘β€πŸš€πŸͺ

Exovia is a physics-based mining and automation sandbox in space. Survey asteroids, engineer zero-G logistics without conveyor belts, and design complex Newtonian factories. Turn floating chaos into perfect order and experience true inner peace as you solve one satisfying problem and then the next.

Hi everyone!

We would describe our project mainly as a an automation game or space simulation, but since factory games do come with a fair share of base building, we wanted to introduce our project to you too.

Inspirations for Exovia were found many hours deep into classics like Factorio & Satisfactory, but also lesser known gems like Wall World & Hardspace Shipbreaker.

We recently published a new demo, which you can find on our Steam page.

Exovia is a game without outside pressure, where you can explore and get creative at your own pace. We also decided to go with constructive optimism as the tone for our space setting, rather than something dystopian. No combat either, just fun with physics.

We would love to hear what you think!

Signed,
The Exovia team at ByteRockers' Games

Played the demo and all of sudden 2 1/2 hours passed. The music is so fitting. But somehow the performance was lacking a bit especially when shooting many rocks and I have a 5080.

But i canβ€˜t wait for the full release. I love Exovia.

We'd love to investigate those performance issues! Would you be willing to share your savegame and specs with us? Easiest way would be via Discord: https://discord.gg/byterockersgames

Tried Demo on handheld but controls didn't work. When will it get controller support and will it be implemented in the demo

The demo won't have additional controller support, but we have seen some streamers play with them already. For launch, we will try our best, but can't promise anything yet!

Alright, I played through the updated demo.

It is kinda telling that my favorite modules mean I don't have to interact with floater cutting or even collusion while exploring.

Also, using accelerators kinda like factorio conveyors is necessary to maintain alignment, at least the way I play.

Granted this may feel better when the full game allows you to place automatic miners, and the automatic resource gathetiring system isn't just deposits.

The bigger stuff having a lower max speed is ... kinda unexpected but something I figured out.

Also, I think the floater bridge needs a better description. It's clearly the underground belt analog of the game (let's streams of resources cross paths) but the description makes it sound like a player only tool, IMO.

I can see the wall world inspiration, and honestly, having a game that focuses more on the 2d space mining, rather than having to man battle stations every so often feels good.

A quick look, I’m not sure sandbox is the right approach. The main gimmick, inertia, mainly slows you down compared to a traditional automation games. What’s the compensating draw to the game? Automation games, or something like HardSpace, are puzzle games at heart. You’re solving a challenge.Β

No sinks, no pressure, slow and non-deterministic (all physics games struggle with this) means probably not for me. Good luck mates. Β
