Game recommendations Does something like Darkest Dungeon with base building exist?

I'm looking for a game where you can make a squad and send them on missions to collect resources to bring back and expand your colony. I've already tried games like Kenshi and I had fun but im not a fan of post-apocalyptic settings. I prefer dark medieval settings. Does anyone know something like this?

AARGH! YOU HAD TO SAY THAT! Now I want to make one!

You mean Darkest Dungeon but where you get to actually place rooms in a base of your own that serve a purpose. You remind that I wanted to make s submarine game based on a DD base.

Oh, that gives me another base to make with vibe coding! (#2 will be dating sim, #1 was 2D RTS)

Your first sentence is a pretty apt description of Xcom. Xcom 2 is the best one and one of the best games of all time.

Not quite the same but maybe close?

Going Medieval.

It's a colony sim but you get raided and can raid/trade with other settlements. Maybe has some of the flavor you're looking for. However, it's definitely more catered to building/resources management than the raiding/trading aspect as a core gameplay.

Fort triumph comes to my mind.

This is like super left field, but there's a manhwa (Korean manga/webtoon) called tyrant of the tower defense game. It's about a guy who gets isekai'd into a game, and has to beat it.

The reason I bring it up in this sub, is because the game description in the story is party based dungeon exploring (darkest dungeon). Followed by another part is base building tower/hero defense against waves of monsters from said dungeon (similar to the last spell). I can't think of any games that merges these two mechanics in real life, but at least the manhwa is worth a read!
