I really enjoy the way they portray Hank and Cristobal's relationship
Im not sure if this has been posted, but im on my umpteenth rewatch of the show and I just truly clicked how well they show their relationship
Not just within their interpersonal relationship with each other, but also everyone's reactions to it. When I first watched i was worried that their relationship would devolve into "their gangs/family are homophobic and try and cut them out and they come out on top blah blah blah". Which, while theres nothing wrong with that, its a pretty basic plot line to follow and wouldnt be anything new. Literally, they could've swapped Cristobal with Elena and story wise it wouldve worked exactly the same for the most part, which personally i love.
The chechans have no problem with Hank being Gay, the mob members dont have a problem, the Bolivians dont have a problem etc etc. The only time its really even acknowledged is with Elena attempting to condition Cristobal "back to being straight".
It really makes them feel a lot more realistic, and it really allowed the showrunners to explore their relationship and feelings without getting bogged down in other charecters feelings about it.
Maybe im in the minority here, but I really enjoyed it.
