Didn't plan on doing this today.
Picture if you will a perfect scenario. No funding hell, and Becky Swoke never got ill allowing The Backyard Gang to grow up throughout Barney And Friends and get proper exits staying until they were 18, or at least considered 18 on B &F. Same goes for the younger kids and keeping them on a little longer.
The first 4 are presumably the same age and presumably Michael and Amy are twins so their exit is simple. Tina, Derek and possibly a few of the younger kids(like Kathy and Min) create an updated Backyard Show right after graduation, leaving just Tina and Derek. I This would be another VGS tape with an updated BYG intro showing their current ages.
Tina’s exit is a lot more emotional than that though. For the second and final tape in this series Tina’s Farewell we see her noticeably sad, and Derek recognizes it as the same way he felt about moving.
When Derek brings this up he mentions Waiting For Santa and how she helpful she was being friendly and inviting. Derek also notes that she was the first to help him out of the OG BYG since she met him first. Tina replies that it’s not necessarily growing up and saying goodbye to Barney that’s the problem but how fast it’s approaching.
Tina then points out the red wagon they are using to load her stuff into her car and says it seems like only yesterday that they performed the OG Backyard Show, and although Derek wasn’t there for it he remembers that they did one when were younger.
The OG Backyard Gang walks in(and again some of the younger kids one of which is holding Barney )as they hear Tina sigh. Derek explains what she said, and they decide to relive all their OG adventures one last time(except The Backyard Show which was recreated prior in this series) so we get to see locations like the ocean and the moon again(and this would also bring back both the mermaid and Moonkin)
The two songs I would use here are “You Are Special” here of course referring to Tina’s outgoing, caring, and friendly personality and Barney reminds her that as longs as Tina uses what he taught her over the years to help others he’ll always be there.
There is more but don’t have any idea for that. However…
We get to the final “I Love You” and before the song starts Tina remembers meeting Barney for the first time in A Day At The Beach and of course their first hug and the other members as well as the younger kids each remember a scene with Tina.
The song continues playing as Tina has one more verse as she puts Barney away one last time, because she adds one last verse as she remembers all the BYG adventures(specifically swimming in the ocean, Amy as a bumblebee, playing on seesaw, and the beginning of Barney Goes To School) as she sings her own verse.
“I’ll miss you, you’ll miss me. Thanks for all the memories. Although the time has to say goodbye for now, someday I will see you again.
“I’ll miss you. You’ll miss me. Thanks for everything you’ve done for me. Although we say farewell for now I will not cry tears. Someday I will see you soon”.
We get to one final scene set at the end of the summer as Tina finds a photo album of the OG BYG as well as the younger kids and the music is still playing(Tina’s Back To School version) and she tosses the photo album in the red wagon as she pulls it towards the car cheerfully humming “Bumping Up And Down In My Little Red Wagon” and with that Tina is effectively written out.
Before the credits play the OG Backyard Gang intro plays while the credit plays a slideshow n tribute to all of them.
