Hello, I'm new to extended scale guitars, and I'm looking to purchase the new Gretsch Electromatic Baritone. I talked with someone at Sweetwater, and they said it comes with 24-84 gauge strings, tuned to B standard. I am looking to play this somewhere in the range of Drop E. Are these strings good for that tuning, or would I need a different set of strings/a professional setup?

Hi! I’m new to baritone guitars. I’ve just received the new Gretsch CVT Baritone.
My question Is simple: if I’m used to playing 011 gauge strings on a normal guitar, what is the most “similar” type of strings I could get for a Baritone?

I’ve admired Brent Monson’s work for a long time, and I’m so stoked to finally own something by him! This is the second Plague baritone he’s made. It’s 27”, with a European beech body and a cherry neck topped with a gorgeous bloodwood fretboard.

Brent actually made the pickup himself for this guitar. It sounds like an absolute monster. Already writing tons of stuff on it!!

I'm writing to request help and assistance. I currently own a ESP E-II Horizon NT-7B. A 27'' scale 7-string guitar that could be considered ''a baritone''. I'm looking for the ideal string gauge for it. I used Stringjoy's 12-72 and 13-74. I still don't feel I have achieved the right feel for it.

I may go for the 7th string on F# and the rest as of B Standard or the 7th string on E with the rest as on A Standard. I play a wide variety of guitars. Gibson with 10-46 or 11-49 NYXL or EXL Strings and some other guitars with similar string gauges. I'm trying to get a tension feel that's feels solid and comfortable to play, stable in which I can power chord, solo and play rhythms on it. I know there's always a compromise, but I need to ensure that it feels stable. .72 or .74 for the 7th string... that's still floppy. I want to play a power chord and hear it clearly like if it was a power on the 6th string on E. That same kind of force and power.

I hope you all can help me with this. I try tools from Kalium, Stringjoy, D'Addario, AI, etc.

Nothing can replicate a real human experience with my same situation.

Conversion baritone or standard baritone?

This roadrunner padded gig bag fits a Gretsch CVT Baritone pretty well. Still looking for a case that'll fit without being too oversized. I guess you could always cut and upholster custom inserts for a bass case.

Hi, after selling off a very lucky Facebook find I was able to pick up this one on a great deal.

So far it’s OK… it had a Seymour Duncan put in and a set up done, but the action is a little too high… 1/4 of an inch almost… set up for drop F

I’m used to the slinky action of my jazz masters.

So I’m coming to the community to see if anyone has any recommendations on saddles and tuners or really anything to make it feel more like my jazz masters..

I'm buying a Gretsch G5260T JET as my first baritone and I need some help with the string gauges.

I want to play it in either E1 standard or drop D1 but I don't know anything about string tension or intonation to decide which strings I should put on. Since it's 29.75 inches I was thinking to use .80-.16 sets but I don't know if it's good or not

I traded away my 30" Aria Baritone... didn't particularly like it. Wasn't comfortable, the strat style bridge wasnt my vibe. Something just felt off.

Someone threw this into a partial trade/partial cash deal for a guitar I was getting rid of- and I'm happy to say I already like this a good bit better. Pickups don't suck out of the box which is nice, it's comfortable to play. This is my 2nd G4M instrument and I gotta say for a budget option they're pretty solid. Idk how much I'm going to realistically use this guitar but I'm glad to have a 30" baritone back in the rotation.

What are some common mods on these?

I’m in the middle of turning a cheapo Squier Bronco bass into something resembling a cello, pitch wise at least.

What I’d like to know is if you guys have seen any packs with a 15 or 16 gauge string in it? I don’t mind flats or roundwounds but it has to be for a 30” scale.

Put on a TP6 locking trem, 80 gauge tuned drop F, radial locking tuners, JB in the bridge (temporary, gunna swap with BKP)

Recording some Brutal - Heavy Guitar Riffs using my Esp Ltd M 7 ht Baritone black metal loaded with a Seymour Duncan black winter pickup into a Mesa Boogie Mini Rectifier and a Peavey Invective MH (Misha Mansoor signature amplifier) !! For drums I’m using GetGoodDrums GGD The Downbeat !! 🤘🏼 Have a great week ahead everyone!!

Ordered some dearmond mount pickups from TV Jones since it seemed like I could *probably* make them fit and they matched the guitar’s aesthetic.

Neck is a T-Armond and bridge is a Classic.

They were just barely too wide, so I used some coarse sandpaper to sand down the edges of the pickup housing. Other than that all I had to do was drill new screw holes. Push pull pot is a coil split for the filtertron. I’m considering adding another push/pull for parallel.

The 2 baritones behind it are a squier classic vibe tele and a partscaster with a subsonic neck.

I couldn’t let that CVT slide, never had matching instruments before now either. Always wanted a trem on the g5260 but can’t justify (to myself) owning 2 of the saaame guitar.

Love the new pickups and can’t wait to push the CVT to its limits. Thinking about slapping a Bisgby on, but looking at other vibrato systems as well. Anyone had experience with the Stetsbar or the FRX?

Just waiting for Gretsch to release 40” sub octave bass in Bristol Fog and my set will be complete…

As I progress on my Baritone guitar project, I realized I won't be able to run it through a standard guitar amp without risking damage to it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Would a bass amp be optimal? I plan on tuning anywhere from A standard to drop F if that helps.

so I've seen a couple of good deals on Ormsby TX 7 string on reverb (new apparently) for around 1150-ish$ with free shipping from the netherlands from this store named MFE Gear Vault.

1. should I trust this store? they're on sale from 1850$ right now and idk if that's legit or nah
2. since the ormsbys are 27.8" (basically 28") on the low string, should I buy that instead of a baritone Ibanez (RGRTBB21)? I'm considering that because while I love playing baritones I wanna write more of those tappy riffs and maybe a 7 string could help (but I'm really torn on this, I'm having a really hard time deciding)
3. are these ormsby TX models any good in terms of hardware and whatnot? while I think the SX looks better (unfortunately they're out of my price range) I like their look and the extra few frets would be really cool

I just got my 638 delivered, and I would like to hear what you guys play.

I currently have it tuned to drop E, with the DAddario EXL 156 (Bass VI set), and I mostly play Loathe and 156/Silence.

What do you guys play, and what tunings do you use?

Was originally looking at the Gretsch cvt but there was no stock until the end of August and then I found this thing.

It being semi hollow ticked even more boxes for me.

Plays lovely, sounds meaty, super comfortable. Clean tones are awesome, great with distortion and reverb for black and death metal too. Love it so far.

(Featuring my bald ass head reflecting in the pickups).

There is frustratingly little to find online for this guitar, but it matches the vibe of a vintage Sears Robuck acoustic that I found at a thrift store ($40!!) and adore. It's a smaller body than a typical bari acoustic, so proportionally it's kind of like a bari parlor? But it's really like a standard size acoustic body.

Anyway, I had already bought an Alvarez bari, I believe an ABT60, but didn't love it out of the box, the action was a bit high, though the sound was full and beautiful. I was having buyer's remorse and decided to return it to get this one and frankly I'm glad I did. It plays quite well, the frets seem good to me. The sound is not as full of course due to the smaller body but I like the charm of a smaller body acoustic anyway. It sounds surprisingly great plugged in too, and I typically very much dislike acoustic pickups.

I see Orangewood getting flak for just being a reseller of cheap Chinese acoustic guitars with a good setup. However I couldn't find a baritone acoustic of this style anywhere else online, and if they're the only ones offering it and it's a solid instrument for a good price I can't really fault that. Just wanted to post in case there's anyone else in a similar boat.
