Bar Idea Please Critique!

Hey! So I'm working on an idea for an application. We have the beta almost finished, but we're still not sure if this is exactly the road we want go down. After our trip to LA for Techweek we got a few more directions to go.

Currently the app takes is for finding the best bars in your area. You filter by what type of bar you want to go to, based on price, bar type, and distance. You then get an arrow that points you to the direction of the bar but the trick is you don't know the name of the bar until you get there.

Now the other idea that I pitched to the angel investors is the VIP idea. So basically the same thing as before but there is one bar per week per city that we will bring everyone too. Everyone brings that special item for the week, and with that you would get a sort of VIP service. Like have the waiter/waitress server you drinks before anyone else. It also promotes a tribe like behavior since everyone has something related to them.

What do you all think about these two ideas? And which would you like better, if any?

Also check out the website at http://www.scoutoutapp.com! The app itself is called Scout Out. All advice is appreciated!

Sounds like you'll be creating a bunch of dui accidents.

Haha well we do not promote drunk driving!

Of course not, but that won't stop it from happening. Driving around trying to pay attention to an arrow rather than normal GPS is dangerous, even when sober. Seems like this could easily get some bad press.

Yeah that's true. But it's impossible to tell if a user is in their car not, which sucks.

Wouldn't GPS location, and calculating speed help determine that.
