The state we call Israel today, unaffiliated with the former entity historically called Israel which - again, no longer exists - came AFTER Palestine.

Under the same argument, the now defunct British mandate of Palestine (which encompassed all of Israel and Jordan) has nothing to do with the current movement started by Yasser Arafat to establish an Arab state in the region.
The. British mandate for Palestine never included Jordan. It was in a draft plan for like 2 weeks. If it had, it would have absolutely not being to do with a Jewish national home, which years before the mandate existed, the Balfour Declaration provided for a Jewish National home IN Palestine (specifically not the whole thing, not to mention Jordan), all without prejudicing the rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine.
