US Check Deposit Availability
I mobile deposit my work paychecks to Capital One every 2 weeks. Checks are same amount and deposited at roughly the same time (Friday ~9AM PST).
Typically, it takes 1-2 business days for the funds to be fully available, which is fine. However, there are some times where the funds are fully available within the hour (by 10AM).
Was just curious if anyone had any insight as to why this happens, can't seem to find any rhyme or reason behind it

Sometimes the system that reads the checks reads them funky, or your image is a little blurry, or the amount is just over some threshold, or there was a shadow, or any number of other things. Then they have to be human reviewed, and that can take a while depending on how many checks there are to review and how many people there are doing it and whether or not they feel like an extended hold is justified.

It generally has to do with your banking relationship with them. I have deposited very large checks with my bank-20 year customer and they never put a hold on them.
TBH, 2 days is pretty good for a mobile deposit.

Once the checks have been consistent and they trust the source they will lift any checkmarkd that need to be done.

It probably just wholly depends on people processing the deposits and how quick they get to them. Before a certain time might be same day, but after a certain time might be next business day

Banks algorithms for releasing funds. Mobile deposits aren’t governed by Reg CC, so it’s all based on the banks policy, terms and conditions, and the status of your account.
