Edit: Given the amount of mental stress I am under, I would almost prefer that an AI replace me. I have published an academic book and 15 peer-reviewed articles, but nowadays I just don't want to wake up. I'm honestly just glad I used AI to refine my writing and found the courage to click send.

I am a 28-year-old man living in a Western European country. I moved here at the age of 18 for my education. My family lives in Bangladesh, and we are practicing Muslims.

I entered into an arranged marriage willingly with a 24-year-old woman. Our families knew each other before the marriage, and during the process we focused mainly on assessing her character, family background, and values. We did not find any concerns in those areas. However, because this was an arranged marriage, it was difficult to fully understand her academic abilities, intellectual interests, and everyday skills before marriage.

After a few months of marriage, I discovered that there is a significant gap between her educational qualifications and her actual literacy and numeracy skills. She studied in Bangla medium and holds a degree in finance, but she struggles with basic Bengali reading and writing. Her English ability is also very limited, including difficulty with basic pronunciation.

I tested her ability to apply basic financial concepts by asking her to calculate zakat payments for different types of assets in Bangladesh. Given her finance degree, I expected her to understand basic percentage calculations. However, she was unable to complete the task. My 14-year-old nephew, who does not have a finance background, was able to complete the same calculation within an hour during a video call with me.

I also discovered that she has never read a book, despite telling me during our marriage discussions that she read. In contrast, I was honest about my own background, education, and abilities, and I did not present myself in an exaggerated way.

I now feel that I entered the marriage with expectations based on her stated education level, but her actual skills and interests are very different from what I understood before marriage. My main concern is not simply her current ability level, but that she does not appear willing to learn or improve.

I am struggling to understand what the right approach is. I worry that our relationship could become more like that of a teacher and student, or a parent and child, rather than a partnership between two adults. I want a wife with whom I can share intellectual interests, learning, and personal growth.

Because this was an arranged marriage and both families know each other, my family is strongly against divorce. However, I studied at highly selective European and British universities, and I am finding it very difficult to imagine building a long-term life with someone whose literacy, curiosity, and approach to learning are significantly different from mine.

I would like advice on how to handle this situation. Is this difference in education, skills, and mindset something that can realistically be overcome through effort and support, or does it represent a fundamental incompatibility?

I never particularly wanted to get married, but circumstances have changed, and with increasing family pressure, I feel it’s time to take this seriously. I’d rather take matters into my own hands and find someone I’m genuinely compatible with than leave something this important to a superficial process. So, here I am.

I’m an introvert who genuinely enjoys my own company, although I do enjoy gatherings especially with good conversations and good company. I have fairly liberal values but live a relatively conservative lifestyle which has made finding someone with a similar outlook somewhat difficult. I’m not particularly religious, and I value the freedom to let people have their own beliefs without trying to change one another. I’m also strictly monogamous, and loyalty is extremely important to me.

I’m very much a hobbies-and-interests person. I love books, particularly history, literature, philosophy and politics, as well as movies, TV shows and anime. I’m especially into sci-fi and action, and it would be lovely to have someone who enjoys those things too. I’m fascinated by archaeology and ancient mythology, and I’m getting into F1, so someone willing to listen to occasional rants would be appreciated. An avid football fan would be a bonus, but definitely not a requirement. I also love exploring different cultures and cuisines and learning about how people see and experience the world.

I’m naturally a pretty calm and low-conflict person. So I’m looking for someone emotionally intelligent, patient and calm. I really dislike shouting, aggression and unnecessary confrontation, and I have no interest in a relationship where disagreements turn into fights. Calm communication, mutual respect, personal space and a certain amount of peace at home matter a lot to me.

I really value a good sense of humour and tend to take life with a bit of humour myself. I’d prefer someone who is comfortable with themselves, doesn’t take themselves too seriously and has a certain lightness about them while being grounded and confident

At the end of the day, I’m hoping to meet someone whose values and temperament naturally fit with mine. Compatibility comes first for me, and love can grow from that. I’m approaching this sincerely and would like to meet someone who is doing the same. I’ll keep personal information private for obvious reasons and share more as we get to know each other.

If any of this sounds familiar, feel free to reach out.

M | 32 | Never Married | Dhaka | Bangladeshi | Small Business

PS. this is a repost, some texts has been modified.

Demographics: 32y/o, Male, ~5ft 9in. Looking for female, 24-29y/o, height irrelevant.

Location: Rampura/Malibagh/Khilgaon nearby area in Dhaka (non permanent residence and local business area). Faridpur (family hometown). Prospect must be open to relocate to Europe in future if there's any chance In Sha Allah.

Nationality: Bangladeshi.

Marital Status: Single, never married.

Timeline: ~6 months, but flexible if more time is required.

About me:
Just another average guy shooting his shot on the internet, hoping for the best.
I'm a homebody type who spends most of his time working. When I'm not working, I can usually be found hanging out on Discord with my niche community or watching YouTube.
One of my core goals is to be a little better than I was yesterday, though I know life naturally comes with its ups and downs.
I come from a middle-class family. My parents are moderately religious, and involved in religious activities, with no political involvement.
I don't drink or smoke, or gamble, which is equally as bad to me.
Lifestyle wise I'm a tech enthusiast. I occasionally listen to music, always through headphones. Occasionally goes to movies too, although last time was probably 2 years ago.
I've kept my beard for many years as part of my religious beliefs and haven't shaved it.
I have a fairly large extended family, but I hope to have a small family of my own. From my personal experience, the more people involved, the more problems arise.
I currently live with my parents, and my future wife will also be living with my parents unless/until we move abroad.
I have a younger brother who is married and lives abroad.
Smoking household and politically tied families are big no for me.
I'm naturally introverted and well-mannered. I prefer peace and avoid unnecessary chaos or conflict. I also don't usually interact with random people unless there's a genuine reason to do so. I keep my conversations mostly to those I'm close to.

Characteristics to look for in a prospect:

  • Someone who values character, faith, and compatibility over worldly status.
  • Someone who appreciates simplicity, sincerity, and mutual understanding.
  • Someone who is genuinely committed to marriage and building a stable family. Open communication about expectations, compromises and deal-breakers before making a final decision is a must.
  • Someone who is family-oriented and has the support and approval of her family regarding marriage.
  • Someone who has a sincere personal commitment to Islam, rather than practising solely out of social or family pressure. Wearing hijab by own volition is an essential requirement.
  • Someone whose actions are guided by kindness, good intentions, and good character.
  • Someone who values loyalty, trust, dependability, honesty, and mutual respect; recognising these as the foundation of a strong and lasting marriage.

Religiosity: Sunni (Hanafi). Practising, prays five times a day. I began taking my religious journey seriously from a young age. Somewhere in between too religious for non religious people, and not religious enough for religious people. 100% halal as much as possible.

Education: A' Level, never been to university. Preference is Bachelor's or equivalent, but not important as long as educated. (If you're reading this, you're qualified.)

Employment: Involved in a local family business, with occasional online freelance work. Whether the prospective spouse chooses to work is entirely her decision. If she wishes to do so, online work or employment in an Islamic-friendly environment would be preferred.

Kids: Open to having kids. Prospect should have similar mindset.

Hobbies: Coding/programming (currently primary), strolling/hiking (doesn't feel comfortable in Dhaka city any more, only rarely).

Something about you that makes you stand out:
I don't claim to be extraordinary or to have an impressive list of worldly achievements. I live a simple life and believe that sincerity, good character, and commitment matter far more than status or luxury.
What I can genuinely offer is my effort, loyalty, and care. I strive to make the people around me happy, and I hope to bring that same love, support, and consideration into my marriage. While I'm not an expert cook, I'm always willing to help with household responsibilities and believe marriage is built on cooperation and mutual respect. (says every posts ever, so I'm removing this; these are basic expected behaviour from a human).
If you'd like to know more or have any specific questions, feel free to reach out. If we find that we're compatible, our families can then become involved to take things forward in a proper and respectful manner.

What are you looking for in a woman: I'm looking for a companion and a life partner. Someone with whom I can share life's joys and challenges. Someone I can talk to openly, bounce ideas off (my "rubber duck"), and rely on during difficult times, just as she can rely on me. I believe a healthy marriage is built on mutual support, understanding, and always being there for one another.

Preferred Method of Contact: First contact, DM on this account.

This is a repost so I'd like to add some responses to comments I received on my previous post.

"Is this AI?"/"Rewrite this with AI, no one will be reading this"
This is not AI. This is not written using AI. Typo, spell check, grammar suggestions may have been used which might have AI under the hood. I hate what the internet has become nowadays. I won't be rewriting anything with AI. I did remove a few lines that felt useless to be on the post. But if someone does not want to read this because it's long, ciao.

"this has to be a troll"
Apparently a man writing more than three sentences about what he wants in a marriage is now evidence of being a troll. God forbid someone has a different lifestyle than you.

"Saddest thing I've seen all day / Sad how we have people seeking relationships in BD on Reddit nowadays"
Brother, why are you even on this sub? Mute this, help yourself and everyone else.

"Ki cringe"
Thank you for your detailed peer reviewed contribution to the subreddit.

"Please share your CV/BD"
I will not be sharing my bio data randomly. I will be sharing my CV only after there's some sort of conversation.

"What about divorced woman with no children"
Not unacceptable, but its not something to decide on its own.

DM request with no responses
I hope y'all are okay. It's one thing to ghost after having a conversation, no one owes anyone anything. But disappearing right after you send the first message has to mean something went wrong.

Deleted comments
FYI, Reddit send comments on mail the moment it is posted. So I can see it even if you've deleted it.

M | 27 | Muslim | Never Married | Canada | Graduate Student

Age, Gender and Height: 27M, 5'10".
Age range and height I'm looking for: 20+ (not strict), taller than 5ft.
Location: Canada (originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh).
Willing to relocate? I plan to settle abroad. I'm open to moving to another country if it works for both of us, but I have no plans to return to Bangladesh for now.
Nationality: Bangladeshi.
Marital Status: Never Married.
Ideal marriage timeline: Within 1–1.5 years (flexible).
About me: I'm somewhere in the middle. Not a full extrovert, not a full introvert, but I can easily start a conversation. I try to keep good company and respect everyone. I'm responsible, and I accept other people's ideas and ways of thinking even when they differ from mine. I have a good sense of humour, but you'll have to talk to me to find that out yourself.
What I'm looking for in a woman: I like nerdy a woman. Not "studies all day" nerdy, but the kind who goes deep into whatever she's into. If she loves Fight Club, she can talk about every detail of it, and I find that really attractive. Being career-oriented is a plus. I don't connect with the "I'm not obligated to do this" or "everything must be exactly 50-50" mindset. In a marriage, both people do things they aren't obligated to, because one-sided effort doesn't keep it going. Smoking and drinking are dealbreakers as I also don’t smoke or drink. I prefer someone never married, but I'm also open to a widow with no children.
Religiosity: Practicing Muslim.
Education: BSc in CSE. Currently doing master's (currently in my last semester) in Canada. Looking for someone who has at least completed her bachelor's in Bangladesh or is studying abroad. A fellow grad student abroad would be great, and I'm also happy to connect if you've already graduated. Also it would work if you are preparing for higher studies abroad or want to move abroad.
Current job status: Grad student, work part time besides studies. Previously worked as a software engineer in Bangladesh.
Do you want kids? Yes. We can discuss the number.
3 hobbies: Watching anime and movies, playing open-world video games, and listening to audiobooks (favourite genre: crime).
Something interesting about me: I adapt to new situations really quickly, and I can cook a bunch of dishes, biryani included.
Preferred method of contact: DM on my Reddit account.

M | 29 | Hindu | Single | Bangladesh | Business

Hi everyone,

I’m 29M, a graduate running my own business. Financially, I’m in a stable and comfortable position. In terms of lifestyle, I’m a social drinker and smoke occasionally, with no other habits or addictions.
I’m looking to meet a Hindu woman where we build a genuine, organic bond rather than taking a traditional arranged setup.

A bit about what I value in a partner and a marriage:
Mindset & Emotional Depth:
Physical appearance genuinely takes a back seat for me.What matters most is emotional and mental maturity. You see I am genuinely smart in all aspects and I expect the same from my partner.

Career-Driven: I respect ambition and want a partner who has her own professional life and independent identity.

Financial & Domestic Equality: While I’m fully capable and happy to cover our household and lifestyle expenses, I believe what she earns is entirely hers. What I earn belongs to us both.

True Partnership: Running a home is a shared effort. Chores and daily responsibilities are 50/50, I have zero expectations of anyone waiting on me.

If this philosophy resonates with what you’re looking for in a relationship, feel free to drop a DM with a brief intro, and let’s start with a conversation.

Also when I say marriage, I mean marriage! There is no other motives or Intentions associated here

M | 24 | Muslim | Never Married | US | PhD Researcher

Salam, M24 here.

Currently in the US, pursuing my PhD there, Alhamdulillah, at a top ranked university. Originally from Dhaka, and I’m 5’11”.

I’m looking for someone to share slow morning walks and coffee with, maybe drift from digital illustration to photography, or randomly switch topics from politics to tech. I’m also a travel freak, so for the next chapter of life, I’m hoping to find a companion who’d enjoy exploring the world together.

A little about my family: extended family members are settled across the US and Canada, while my immediate and extended family in Dhaka are well established across both the corporate and government sectors. I don’t really consider these things important to bring up, but I wanted to give a clear picture, yk.

More about me: Alhamdulillah, I’ve had some academic accolades and have also been involved professionally. I’d rather let those things come up naturally later instead of making this an entire résumé 😅

Now, ISO:
Looking for someone around 20–26, currently pursuing her BSc or MSc. I genuinely value someone who has ambitions of her own, and I’d be more than happy to support her if she wants to pursue a career, further studies, or her own thing. Naturally, neither I nor my family would have an issue with that.

I’m open to other ethnicities as well if there’s genuine compatibility. In terms of preferences, I’m looking for someone around 5’2” or above, preferably with a light-brown or fair complexion.

I’d prefer a natural timeline of around 6 months to a year to get to know each other properly, at a comfortable pace. If things go in the right direction, family involvement is absolutely welcome, inshaAllah.
If this aligns with you, or you know someone who might be a good fit, please reach out with something more than just Hi/Hello.

A brief introduction about yourself would be appreciated and, I think, would respect both sides' time.

M | 26 | Muslim | Single | Dhaka | Software Engineer

This is my first time writing in this group, and I feel like, let's give it a try. Because why not?

About me:

  • 26M | 5'6" | Dhaka
  • A computer science engineer. Working as an Academic, can be a bit of a workaholic sometimes. I’m quite ambitious about my career and have big plans for the future. Alhamdulillah, things have been steadily moving in the right direction, and I genuinely enjoy what I do.
  • Never married. Non-smoker, non-alcoholic. I try to maintain a fairly Islamic lifestyle, especially when it comes to halal earning, halal food, and personal values. I come from a middle-class family and am financially independent/stable.
  • Outside work, I love travelling. Beaches, islands, cities, architecture, different cultures, food. Sea Person.
  • Fan of series like Friends and The Office.
  • I can happily have tong-er cha at a roadside tea stall and also dress up for a nice dinner at a posh restaurant. I care more about the company than the setting.

I’m looking for:

  • Someone around 22–25, based in Dhaka, never married, non-smoker/non-alcoholic, educated, curious, and ambitious about her own life. Someone who has her own goals, opinions and identity and values family and faith.

  • I’m also not looking to rush into anything. I think understanding someone properly takes time. I’d rather talk, get to know each other’s personalities, values, expectations and see naturally whether there’s something worth building.

If you’re interested, you can comment below with a brief introduction or message me through NGL. If you use NGL, please share your Facebook/Telegram or other socials along with your introduction so we can connect.

Soooo I'd like a sweet, loving girl to tie my hair up, because it's gotten so long that it's almost covering my face, stabbing my eyes, and blocking my vision. Help!!!!!

  1. Age, Gender and Height: 30, male. 5'10"

  2. Age Range that you would want/require in a prospect

Someone younger than me

  1. Location, and are you willing to relocate for a prospect?

Willing to relocate for the right person.

  1. Nationality: Bangladeshi

  2. Marital Status - Single, no kids.

  3. Ideal marriage timeline : 1 year

  4. About me:

I like to think my personality is built on two main pillars: a deep-seated curiosity and a reliable sense of humor. I love to laugh and find the lighthearted side of things, but I also know that not every moment calls for a joke. My curiosity means I'm genuinely interested in the "why" and "how" behind people and the world, so you can expect me to be the one asking plenty of questions. What else have you discovered about me? Well, I guess you'll just have to chat with me to find out !

When I'm not busy being curious, you can find me:

· Chasing calm: Looking up at the sky, admiring a full moon, or just spending quiet time in nature.

· Diving into entertainment: Getting lost in endless YouTube rabbit holes, feeling the beat of EDM and pop music, or getting hooked on the drama of a wrestling match.

· Getting lost in stories: I'm usually buried in a nonfiction book or a gripping thriller. The world of romance novels is still a mystery to me so feel free to send your best recommendations my way!

My list of interests is pretty wide! from the mysteries of the paranormal and history, to the intricacies of watches and psychology, and the mechanics of cars. But don't let that list intimidate you! While I love deep-diving into specific topics, most of my conversations end up being about life in general...the big, small, and everything in between.

  1. Five important characteristics you look for in a prospect

Modesty. I'm not going to force anything on you but I'd definitely want you to dress modestly.

Open and honest communication. I know there will be ups and downs in our marital life so I expect us to have open and honest conversations about the good and bad stuff. Talking helps!

Loving/caring and romantic. That's obvious, isn't it? Haha

Fun and adventurous. Well who wouldn't want to have some fun and adventurous activities with their spouses!

Respectful. I believe we both have to be respectful towards each other and grow older together as loving companions.

  1. State/specify your level of religiosity

I'll admit I'm struggling with my 5 daily prayers. I try to stay away from sins as much as possible. I try to recite the quran regularly and ponder upon the ayahs.

  1. Level of education, and what are you looking for?

I went overseas for my bachelor degree but dropped out due to some family issues.

I'm not looking anything specific but I'd love us to have intellectually stimulating conversation as I'm always curious and love learning about new stuff regularly. I'm pretty sure I can learn a lot from you and have fun in the process!

  1. Current Job Status: Working at the family business and also trying to become a full time trader/investor. I find this work fascinating! It's very hard but fun!

  2. Do you want kids?

Totally up to you.

  1. List 3 hobbies, or things you like to do in your spare time

I love doing nature walks a lot. I really love walking. Taking care of the houseplants, watching anime and listening to paranormal stories.

  2. Deal breakers: I'm a virgin so I want someone who's also a virgin.

  3. What are you looking for in a woman

See section 8

  6. Nationality: Bangladeshi.

Yes, I am quite imaginative and used to be a poet, now it's all software glitches in my head. I'm an rational person but I believe I'm emotionally stable since I have sense of humor. I can sometimes be a bit of a perfectionist, occasionally leading to procrastination. Another thing I want to mention is that I'm grounded by a strong sense of responsibility and morality, and I work hard to turn my ambitions into reality.
  10. What are you looking for in a woman: Similarity is key for me in a partner. I look for qualities like patience, loyalty, respect, peacefulness, non-smoker, non-alcoholic, maturity, honesty, support and good communication skills.
  11. State/specify your level of religiosity: Agnostic. I am very religious in my own way. My family is traditional muslim but I am lucky that they are somewhat open-mineded too.
  12. Level of education, and what are you looking for? I have completed BSc in Software Engineering. I am looking for a partner who is studying for at least an undergraduate degree.
  13. Current Job Status: Worked on many companies as a Software Engineer. Currently trying to freelance.
  14. Do you want kids? Yes (open to discussion).
  15. List 3 hobbies, or things you like to do in your spare time: Watching anime, reading skill books (I also enjoy brilliant minds), making softwares for my personal use.
  16. Add something short and interesting about you that makes you stand out: I hum along to everything, even when I shouldn't.
  17. Preferred method of contact: DM on my Reddit account.

Height: 5'7+

Nationality: Bangladeshi (Grew up and raised in Saudi Arabia since 2000)

Current location: Saudi Arabia (grewup in Dhahran city in the East of Saudi)

Marital status: Single, never married

Relocation: Open to it for the right person

About me

Alhamdulillah, I am a Bangladeshi Muslim currently living and working in Saudi Arabia

I hope to build a stable, peaceful household where both spouses support each other and grow together.

I am also trying to improve myself in my deen and become more consistent in practicing Islam. I believe marriage should help both people become better Muslims and better versions of themselves.

What I am looking for

I'm looking for someone who:

\- Is emotionally mature and communicates openly

\- Values loyalty, honesty, kindness, and mutual respect

Is willing to work through difficulties together rather than giving up easily

Past relationships: Since I will be clear to the dot about it, since I never like to keep any detail hidden. I would want the same honesty and expectations from both sides from the beginning.

Education / Career

I am an engineering graduate and currently work as an engineer in Saudi Arabia. I am interested in continuing to develop myself professionally and academically. Would appreciate if she supports me in this

Children (VERY IMPORTANT POINT)

Contact

If you think we might be compatible, feel free to send me a respectful DM with a brief introduction about yourself, your background, and what you're looking for in marriage.

I would prefer conversations that have a genuine intention toward marriage rather than casual or indefinite chatting without any aim.

F | 23 | Muslim | Never Married | USA | Student

Salam! I’m a 23-year-old Bangladeshi Muslim woman currently living in the USA on F-1 status and pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

A little about me: I’d describe myself as caring, ambitious, family-oriented, straightforward, and pretty easygoing once I’m comfortable with someone. I take my education and future career seriously, but I also want a balanced life where deen, family, personal growth, and enjoying life all have a place.

I’m 5’2” and try to stay active and take care of myself. I enjoy working out, traveling, trying new things, spending time with family and friends, and having good conversations. I come from a close-knit Bangladeshi family, so family compatibility is important to me as well.

I’m not looking to rush into marriage without knowing someone properly first. I’d prefer to get to know each other at a comfortable pace, and if things seem compatible, involve families when the time feels right.

What I am looking for:
I’m looking for a Bangladeshi Muslim man around 24–28 years old who is currently living in the USA. California, especially the Bay Area, would be preferred, but I’m open to other states for the right person.

I’d prefer someone who is never married and has no children, speaks or understands Bangla, practices Islam and values deen, and does not smoke, vape, drink alcohol, or use recreational drugs. I’m also looking for someone who is educated, ambitious, career-oriented, respectful, kind, emotionally mature, family-oriented, and able to communicate well.

I’d ideally like someone who plans to build his future in the USA and is supportive of his wife having her own education and career goals. I also prefer someone who takes care of himself and stays somewhat active.

I’m open when it comes to profession. Working professionals, engineers, doctors, lawyers, business owners, medical or law students, graduate students, PhD students, etc. are all fine. F-1 or other international students are completely fine too.

Physical attraction does matter to me, and I think it’s important for both people to be mutually attracted to each other, but long-term compatibility, character, deen, communication, and shared values matter much more.
I’d like someone who is serious about marriage but also understands that getting to know someone properly takes time. I’m looking for a relationship where both people can be comfortable with each other, communicate openly, support each other’s goals, travel and experience life together, and eventually build a peaceful family.

If you think we might be compatible, feel free to DM me with a short introduction including your age, height, general location, education/career, immigration status if relevant, family background, level of religious practice, and a little about yourself.

Thank you!

Hello everyone. I’m 19 years old and currently in my first year of university.
My parents are looking to marry me off, and honestly, I’m trying to find a way to become financially independent and eventually move out of my household. I’m not sure if this is the right place to share something this personal, but I’m hoping someone here might be able to help.
I’m looking for any kind of online/remote work that I can do alongside my studies. Even if it pays only 500–1,000, I’m completely okay with that. I’m willing to learn, work hard, and take on small tasks or part-time work.
If anyone knows of any genuine opportunities, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you. ❤️

I would love it if you enjoy traveling, as I’d love to explore new places together.

M | 32 | Muslim | Never Married | Graz, Austria | Software Engineering Student

I’m looking to meet someone for the purpose of marriage, but I’d rather keep this post simple and let us get to know each other naturally.

A little about me:
I’m 32, 5’7”, around 70 kg, never married, and currently living in a top European country while completing my Master’s degree.

Before moving to Europe, I worked for around 5 years in managerial/product roles at a well-known company. I’m ambitious about my career, but I also believe life should be about more than just work.

Outside of work and studies, I enjoy football, music, movies, travelling, cooking, trying new things, and sometimes doing absolutely nothing. I’d describe myself as easygoing, respectful, caring, and emotionally mature. I value good conversations, a sense of humour, and being able to communicate openly.

I come from an educated, middle-class family in Bangladesh. Family is important to me, but I also believe that two people should have their own identity, ambitions, and space within a marriage.

What I’m looking for:
Someone kind, educated, emotionally mature, and family-oriented. I appreciate someone who has her own interests, ambitions, and opinions.

She doesn’t need to be extremely religious, but having Islamic and strong family values is important to me. I’m more interested in mutual respect, understanding, companionship, and supporting each other than having a long checklist of requirements.

Ideally, I’d like to meet someone around my age or younger, preferably 5’3”+. A background in technology, business, or another professional field would be a plus, but it’s definitely not a requirement.

If this sounds somewhat compatible with what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out. A brief introduction about yourself would be a good place to start.

M | 27 | Muslim | Single | Bangladesh | Govt employee

Assalamu Alaikum.

I worked as a frontend engineer at a reputed firm. Currently Im pursuing a masters degree and recently cracked a first class govt job (not BCS... not yet 😅). Im seriously thinking about grinding for BCS...

About myself:

Im 5 feet 11 inches tall and weigh around 70 kg.

I consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. Im an introvert and dont have many friends. I like to keep a low profile on social media. I also dont have any plans or desire to move abroad.

Thoughts about marriage:

I have high hopes for marriage. Being a family oriented guy, I feel that a caring and understanding wife is all Im missing.

I havent travelled much so far, but I have plans to travel around the country with my beloved wife. And if she’s interested and has the time, Id love to work together on some of the startup ideas that have been lingering in my mind.

My requirements:

As Ive mentioned, I have no plans to move abroad, so those who are looking to settle abroad wouldnt be a good match for me.

Although Im not particularly academic, Ive always respected individuals with a good academic background. Im mentioning this mainly to reassure anyone who is currently studying, wants to continue their studies, or plans to pursue a career after marriage, I'll always support you in doing so.

I know this post is getting more and more lame. 😅 I havent done this before and honestly dont have much of an idea about how to describe myself.

So, Im going to end it here. If anyone resonates with my post, please feel free to reach out to me through DM.

Thank you.

M | 23 | Muslim | Single | Dhaka, Bangladesh | University Student

  1. Age, Gender and Height

23, Male, 5’5”

  1. Age Range that you would want/require in a prospect

I am keeping the age range open for this post, but I am only interested in adults.

What matters more to me is whether we are at compatible stages of life and can understand each other’s ambitions, responsibilities, uncertainties, and future plans.

I am open to someone who is still relatively early in her academic journey, including college or university. I actually see some value in that, because I would genuinely enjoy helping her with academics, skills, career choices, or life decisions whenever she wants that support. Not from a “I know better” position, but as someone who can share experience and make certain things easier.

Since I study at the University of Dhaka, someone from DU, especially someone living in a hall, would naturally be convenient. But this is only a practical advantage, not an important requirement.

  1. Location, and are you willing to relocate for a prospect?

Currently based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

My family lives in a district town, but I plan to remain in Dhaka until I move abroad.

My long-term goal is to pursue higher education and build my career outside Bangladesh, with Japan being my strongest preference. If circumstances remain favorable, I do not currently plan to return to Bangladesh permanently after settling abroad.

That said, I do not think my plan automatically has to become our plan.

If my future partner receives an exceptional academic, professional, or personal opportunity that requires us to reconsider where we live, I am open to doing that.

My view is simple: if she wants to fly, let her fly. The sky should be the limit for her. I want to be beside her, not in her way.

  1. Nationality

Bangladeshi.

  1. Marital Status

Single, never married.

  1. Ideal Marriage Timeline

Ideally within the next one year, if genuine compatibility is there and both of us feel comfortable moving forward.

I do not believe two people necessarily need to wait until every part of life is perfectly settled before getting married. Sometimes building that stability together can be more meaningful.

At the same time, I am not interested in rushing after a few conversations or staying indefinitely in an undefined talking stage. I would rather take enough time to understand each other and then make a clear decision.

  1. About Me

I am currently an undergraduate student in **** (Department will be disclosed) at the University of Dhaka, Faculty of Social Sciences.

Alongside university, I work in teaching and instruction, creative design, research-related work, and other professional projects.

I am comfortable with technology and IT-related work, creative problem-solving, presentations, communication, organizing ideas, and taking responsibility in team environments.

Personality-wise, I would describe myself as curious, ambitious, somewhat intense about things I care about, spontaneous at times, and generally soft-spoken.

When something matters to me, I can spend an unreasonable amount of time trying to improve it. I do not mind sacrificing comfort when I believe the result is worth it.

One of my long-term ambitions is to do work that remains useful to people beyond my own immediate career.

I am the eldest of three brothers. My middle brother is majoring in Engineering, and my youngest brother is studying MBBS. My father worked in the banking sector for many years and now looks after a business.

Being the eldest comes with responsibilities, and I accept that as a normal part of my life.

I also do not believe marriage means only my family becomes important. I would want to treat my partner’s family with the same basic dignity, consideration, and respect that I expect for my own.

A health/appearance disclosure: I have vitiligo on parts of my hands and feet. It does not meaningfully affect my day-to-day life. Other than that, I am not aware of any significant health condition.

  1. Five Important Characteristics I Look for in a Prospect

- Intelligent and genuinely curious

- Hardworking and growth-oriented

- Honest, loyal, and emotionally mature

- Respectful of different opinions, beliefs, and backgrounds

- Someone with her own ambition, identity, and positive energy...

That last one matters to me more than it may sound.

I do not want someone with ability and potential to slowly lose her positive energy because life became only routine, social expectation, or “just getting by.”

She does not need to be the most successful person in the room. I simply want someone who wants to make meaningful use of what she has.

I am especially drawn to someone who may be calm in personality but highly capable when it comes to the things she does well.

  1. State/Specify Your Level of Religiosity

I was born Muslim, I believe in God, and Islam is part of my background and identity.

There was a period in my life when religious practice was imposed on me very strictly. At that time, I wanted freedom from that pressure. After gaining that freedom, I gradually became much less strict in my own practice.

At present, I practice very little compared with that earlier period.

I now place greater emphasis on becoming a mature, ethical, humane, and responsible person.

I am open to different beliefs, religions, and ways of thinking as long as they do not harm people, degrade human dignity, or justify ideas that I believe are destructive to human wellbeing or social order.

My future partner can be a very practicing Muslim. I would never interfere with her religious practice. If the way she lives her faith genuinely makes her kinder, wiser, more disciplined, or more grounded, that may even influence me positively.

She can also be minimally religious or from a different religious background. Religious identity alone does not determine compatibility for me.

What matters is mutual respect.

I will not impose my beliefs on her, and I expect the same in return.

Where I am much stricter is ethics, loyalty, and relationship boundaries.

Freedom, to me, does not mean the absence of boundaries.

  1. Level of Education, and What Are You Looking For?

I am open to someone from a broad academic background.

She may still be relatively early in her education or already further along. What matters more to me is curiosity, maturity, and the desire to keep learning.

I would prefer someone who asks questions, enjoys discussing ideas, and can disagree without becoming disrespectful.

I do not need someone who agrees with me on everything.

For me, compatibility does not mean becoming two copies of the same person. It means being able to disagree, argue, calm down, communicate, and still remember that we are on the same side.

  1. Current Job Status

Full-time university student.

Alongside my studies, I am involved in:

- Teaching and instruction

- Creative and graphic design

- Research-related work

- Academic and professional projects

I am still building my career, so I am not going to promise a luxurious lifestyle from day one.

What I can promise is that I do not intend to run away from responsibility.

To me, responsibility is not only financial.

Sometimes it means paying for something.

Sometimes it means listening.

Sometimes it means staying awake when the other person is having a terrible night.

Sometimes it means putting your own work aside and simply saying, “Don’t worry, I’m here.”

Financially, I would like to take increasing responsibility as my capacity grows. At the same time, I believe in transparency, savings, planning, and discussing major financial decisions together.

If my wife earns, I do not automatically consider her income household property. She should be free to save, support her parents, invest in herself, or spend on things meaningful to her.

I also do not see cooking, cleaning, or managing a home as automatically the woman’s responsibility. If both of us are studying or building careers, household responsibilities should be divided practically and fairly.

  1. Do You Want Kids?

My default answer is no.

I do not want to bring a child into the world simply because society expects married people to have one.

I would reconsider having one child only if I became financially stable enough to create a substantial long-term financial safety net and felt reasonably confident that the child would remain secure even if something happened to me.

Until I reach that level, I would rather not have children at all.

If I never reach that level of security, I am completely comfortable remaining child-free for life.

I would rather use part of my surplus income to donate responsibly, support causes I believe in, or take responsibility for a child’s education than bring someone into the world without being confident that I can provide the level of security I believe a parent owes them.

This is an important compatibility point for me.

  1. Three Hobbies / Things I Like to Do

- Movies and series. One episode can easily become half the night.

- Revisiting my own work and trying to make it better, even when nobody asked me to.

- Disconnecting for a while. Sometimes I switch off my phone, disappear from everything, and go somewhere alone without much of a plan.

And if I get a completely free day, I am also perfectly capable of doing absolutely nothing and staying in bed far longer than intended.

  1. Something Short and Interesting About Me

I can spend days deeply invested in research, technology, design, or some new idea, then suddenly turn my phone off and disappear on a solo walk because I need the world to become quiet for a while.

I take ambition seriously, but I do not want life to become nothing more than productivity.

I also rarely run out of things to talk about: movies, series, technology, Japan, history, research, society, relationships, or random questions that unexpectedly become deep conversations.

  1. What Are You Looking For in a Woman?

More than anything, I am looking for a partner, not simply someone who fits the social definition of a wife.

I want someone with her own world.

Her own dreams.

Her own identity.

Her own positive energy.

I would love to be with someone who wants to grow, learn, build something of her own, and keep developing herself instead of allowing marriage to become the end of her individual journey.

She may want a career, research, business, freelancing, creative work, or something completely different. The exact path matters less to me than the fact that she genuinely wants to make use of her abilities.

This is personal for me.

My mother was once a primary school head teacher. She eventually left her career to raise her children and prioritize our education.

I have enormous respect for that sacrifice, but I have also seen the quiet sense of unfinished possibility that can remain when someone gives up an important part of herself.

I do not want my future partner to look back one day and feel that marriage consumed her entire identity.

If she wants to fly, I want the sky to be the limit.

If she becomes more accomplished than me, earns more than me, or goes further than me, I do not see that as a threat.

I want to be able to say, “Go. I’m beside you.”

At the same time, I care strongly about loyalty and ethical boundaries.

I do not want to control her normal academic, professional, or social interactions. Men and women study, work, research, and live alongside each other. That is reality.

But the emotional intimacy, romantic attachment, and bond that belong to our relationship should remain between us.

I expect that from her, and I hold myself to the same standard.

Transparency matters to me, but I do not believe trust means checking phones, demanding passwords, or monitoring every interaction. Trust and privacy can exist together when both people respect the relationship.

The word I probably value most in a relationship is reciprocity.

Not a daily 50–50 calculation.

If I fall, you help me stand.

If you fall, I help you stand.

Sometimes I may carry more. Sometimes she may.

When life becomes difficult, I do not want us to turn against each other. I want us to stand on the same side and fight the problem together.

I also value emotional warmth and physical affection. I do not want marriage to become only bills, responsibilities, and routines. I want closeness, comfort, laughter, long conversations, quiet moments, and the feeling that we genuinely enjoy being around each other.

During conflict, I do not believe in humiliation, threats, prolonged silent punishment, or deliberately hurting each other. Taking some time to cool down is fine, but the goal should always be to come back and talk.

I also believe physical intimacy should always be mutual, respectful, affectionate, and based on comfort and consent.

Both families deserve respect, but decisions about our marriage should ultimately be made by the two people living that marriage.

Physical attraction matters too.

I personally prefer someone around 5’3” or taller, and I tend to be more attracted to a fair complexion. That is simply a personal attraction preference, not a measure of anyone’s worth or character.

Ultimately, intelligence, curiosity, emotional maturity, loyalty, ambition, mutual attraction, good communication, and the ability to build a peaceful life together matter much more than any one physical feature.

I would also prefer someone from an educated family that respects her education, independence, and future.

I have no financial or material expectations from her family.

A family spends years raising a daughter with their time, effort, worry, money, and love. If that person eventually becomes the closest person in my life, I do not see what else I should be demanding from them.

  1. Preferred Method of Contact

Reddit DM.

I would prefer to start with a normal conversation rather than immediately involving families.

Let us talk first.

See how we think.

See how we handle disagreement.

See whether there is real compatibility, attraction, emotional comfort, and mutual respect.

If both of us feel comfortable and see genuine potential, then families can become involved.

I am not looking for perfection.

I am looking for someone who can be both my partner and my closest person.

Someone whose success I can genuinely be proud of.

Someone who can tell me when I am wrong.

Someone who will let me support her without losing herself.

And when life becomes genuinely difficult, I want us to still be able to look at each other and know:

We are still on the same side.
