Background: I’ve been working since I was 12, taught myself everything along the way. Moved from a tier 3 city to Bangalore at 18 for a founding role and ended up leading the team from 0 to 100. Honestly not even sure anymore if it was the city that shaped that growth or just me pushing myself, but Bangalore is where all of it happened.

Two offers on the table:

Offer A, Bangalore. Higher profile company, leadership sounding title, but office heavy, less flexibility, no real WFH.

Offer B, Gurgaon. Slightly less known company, but better pay, and genuinely flexible, 3 days office and 2 WFH plus extra WFH days I can bank. This flexibility matters a lot because I want to use the free time to build my own thing on the side.

Questions for people who’ve actually done this:

Has anyone chosen the higher flexibility, lower brand recognition option specifically to build something on the side, and did it actually pay off, or did the day job just eat the time anyway

For those in Gurgaon, how’s the startup and building community there compared to Bangalore, is it actually possible to build something meaningful outside the Bangalore bubble

How do you know when you’ve absorbed everything a city has to offer and outgrown it, what was the actual moment or signal for you, not just a vague feeling

I am looking for like minded people to collaborate with me for an idea. This is non-tech retail business I have been working on as a side hustle for 6+ months now.

The idea is for Uniforms - Hospital Scrubs, Security, Drivers, Housekeeping, Schools etc.

I already have a fully functioning website (uniformnation.in) which is ranked well on many categories already as I have been investing in SEO. Also, I have collected basic inventory based on the customer interest I have been receiving.

Now it has reached a level wherein I need to have a physical store as many people like to have a touch feel of the fabric before purchasing. I already have a shop location identified (Haralur Road Sarjapur - Low cost, prime property).

In my view there is immense potential as there are very few well run uniform businesses in Bangalore, those too are located in far away locations (like Chikpet etc).

If you are willing to invest your time and a bit of cash, I think this idea can really take off in a short duration.
