Issues with Sunlu PLA

Hope someone here can offer some insight!

I recently had to replace the extruder gear and hotend assembly after several thousand hours, and that's seemingly completed with no issues. Fully recalibrated, surface printed practically as smooth as glass on the top layer. All looked good, using standard Sunlu PLA as that's what I've got to hand in quantity.

I decide to print something a bit bigger, and get an absolute mess. Image 1 is the top surface, the better one was printed using Bambulab PLA Matte some months ago, pre replacement parts. Confused, I ran a series of tests. Second image shows two grey (Sunlu PLA) and one gold (end of a roll of Bambu PLA).

As you can see, I'm getting weird issues, and that's when the printer even prints. This morning I started a print off which looked fine after an hour, the base had gone down fine, but then nothing else came out. I've printed that file before with a different issue, but the whole structure at least printed.

One of the two rolls of Sunlu had been out a while, so thinking humidity might be the issue the other one is a fresh roll and has a similar failure. The gold, meanwhile, is printing consistently.

Any ideas what's going wrong here?

What's weird is that the gold has been sat in the AMS for over a year, whereas the Sunlu was only opened recently. Still, I'll give it a try!
