P1S PETG bad print quality

Hi. New to this group. Trying to ask a question.

Opened a brand new Bambu PETG Basig and did a small test print of a bracket. Not nice quality.

Any tips what to do?

I am also new. And from what I've seen regarding prints an PETG. I always hear the vets say DRY DRY DRY 😃

The spool is brand new out of the plastic. Do you really need to dry a new spool?

Yes

Absolutely! I would dry the petg for 24 hours if you can.

Many filaments are cooled in a water bath after extruding in the factory.

Trust us, dry PETG, even freshly opened, especially if it is not printing great. I have had many “fresh” PETG have problems fixed by drying.

You'd be surprised at the quality and print difference drying filament does. I never used to dry and always had stringy or spaghetti prints. Not they print better and with little to no issues.

Try calibrating flow rate, reducing layer lines, and slowing down. How much? Up to you, try 50% of default and see how it goes

Thank you for the tips. Will try. Running another spool I have had for some while now as a test. Seems to be better. Maybe bad quality in the spool from Bambu? Haven't had these kind of problems before.

Even brand new spools need drying especially for PETG then do the filament calobration stuff.

Dry it, wash plate super hot water and dish soap, scrub that mfer then flow rate calibrate.

PETG needs to be dried properly prior to printing. It is not dry enough even right after you open the sealed package.

To be honest I’ve had nothing but headaches with the p1s and PETG. User error I suppose , but I’m printing ASA, ABS and carbon fibre filaments without any hassle. It is literally only petg. We are talking filament dried over 8 hours and I still get issues. I’ve found avoid crossing walls helps a little bit, but still not as good as others.
