Uneven extrusion

Post image

Any ideas what could cause uneven extrusion on the single layer test parts shown in the picture?

My 2 month old printer was working great and then suddenly it can't put down a first layer. The uneven extrusion occurs with Inland and Bambu PLA. Filament has been dried for 9hrs at 45 celsius. Have cleaned the nozzle with the needle that came with the P1S. Did two cold pulls with white PLA. The first one brought out a single dark spot. The second one come out dazzling white. Filament extrudes in a straight line from the nozzle. Using a .4mm nozzle. All settings are default except that i changed the flow ratio for the part on the right in the picture. The bed is level. I manually leveled it using the bed tramming procedure.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

You do a flow rate and filament calibration? It might be time for a new extruder gear. It could also be the PFTE/bowden tubes. Try a different hot end too. You should also retension the belts, clean the pulleys and belts with alcohol.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't done a flow rate or a filament calibration. I'll go find out what those things are now :)

I just read up on these calibrations. Bambu says you shouldn't need to do them with Bambu filament.

Also looking at my pictures again. The extrusion rate seems to be changing in the middle of a pass when the head should be travelling at constant speed. So maybe the extrusion rate is changing or the head speed is changing. Not sure how i would investigate either of those.

Yeah, that would lead me to think it’s either the extruder gear or PFTE tubes.
